When was the last time Detroit scored 116 points? We need to work on our defence.

I didn't watch the game but this was double OT wasn't it?

I don't understand this. I was going back and forth on the Giants and Knicks game and I thought he played well. Specially those 2 3pt daggers in the 2nd OT. I am going to myself that maybe the times I am watching the Giants was when he was pitiful so I looked at his stats for the game.

20 pts
9 rebs
7-12 shooting 58.3 shooting %age
4-9 3pt shooting 44.4 %age and some of those 3s was to beat the shot clock.
2-2 from the line - OK maybe he should have drove more but Amare was dominating in the paint so the play really was not there. Plus, Prince really was guarding him the whole game. Prince is still one of the premier defenders in the league.
4 assts
1 block
2 turnovers
He struggled guarding Prince but everyone had a hard time with Prince today. That last foul by the way should have been an offensive foul.

So what gives? What was pitiful?

He scored 20, Prince scored 31 - mainly on Gallinari.

Gallo could not stop Prince at all. Even with 4 fouls, Chandler should have been on Prince late in the 4th and OT. D'antoni didn't call for the switch until the 2nd OT and Chandler made Prince miss badly on what i think was his only shot in the period. Gallo can say he wants to defend the best player all he wants but Chandler should primarily be on the best perimeter player. Especially today, when there is an offensive non-factor in Ben Wallace on the other team. I would much rather put Gallo on Wallace and live with the 2 or 4 points he scores as opposed to the 19-20 that Prince rang off on him in the 4th and OT's.

I was watching how he defended Prince. Prince made some great shots. Gallo always had a hand on his face when he shot. You gotta give it to Prince that he is a premier player. Well he was once one of the premier players. He didn't go making layups on Gallo. They were tough perimeter shots. Sometimes you just gotta tip your hat to a player. We tried Chandler against him also and the result was the same.

I could be wrong but I thought Prince made 2 shots against Chandler in the OT(s).

edit: Also, I think Prince score on anybody today.

You are probably right, he was scoring at will, maybe i just figured it was Gallo that he was still lighting up. Gallo didn't defend particularly bad, Prince's length is just insane..very long arms. Even so, I think if you put Chandler on him the for the entire time in the 4th and OT's then maybe Prince doesn't score on what seemed like every possession late in the game. Or maybe double off with whoever is guarding Ben Wallace.

We tried doubling Prince a couple of times and Prince is just a smart player. In one sequence he swung the ball and found Rip Hamilton on a 3 pointer.

By the way, I am a big Gallo fan. So you can say that my judgement might be a little skewed, but I don't think it is in this game.

You're not wrong at all. Gallo's D was solid. He wasn't getting blown past by his man. He kept Prince and anyone else he defended on the perimeter taking jumpers, with his hand in their face. He's just hated on, but his D is actually very solid for a guy that's not the fastest or jumps that high. He's been really solid on D!

I agree Gallo does get hated on too much......

Yesterday it was justified..... Today he played very well.

Prince was on fire ...... It happens.

Great win and great effort from Gallo as well as Amare Chandler and Captain Griddy Felton!

I actually disagree with you. Gallinari was getting torched, but he did everything he could on Prince and he ust happened to be hot and do well no matter what the defense showed. Gallo stuck with him and always had his hand up. Nothing he could have done.

anyone kind of concerned about the minutes? i agree with the short bench but bill walker and AR needs more minutes. Chandler and Danilo could probably handle it but STAT and Felton have a good chance of wearing out and with Amar'e there's a good chance of injury.

glad we pulled it out. a loss would have been really bad.

It's still early in the season. I would hope that they try to find spots where our top guys can get some rest. It's too early to be overly concerned with minutes, but over the course of a season it can be a problem.

Gallo gets it. He just has to work harder to keep improving, but he's a smart player. This statement by him shows that he isn't lost on what is going on:
"It was a tough call," Gallinari said. "The first thing is I didn't have to let him go left. I let him do what he does best."

thank you..someone who acutally watched the game with a basketball eye.... gallo forced him into some tough shots he made.. Newsflash!! Prince can play!!

as soon as they switched chandler on him, he backed him up closer for a 5 foot shot that was easy.. we should have doubled to take the ball out of his hands, he was hot... gallo was not giving up layups.. prince was hitting contested jumpers..

Detroit has 3 starters from Larry's "right" way days! They are solid pro's.

Prince sold that 3 pt play and in fact it was an offensive. He tried to sweep gallos arm and by doing so knocked him off balance and he sold the **** out of it. It was a great play prince made.

Road games and young players don't get much respect.

Knicks back to .500 on the road, second of a back to back on double overtime with players out! Great Win!!!!

AR was crap again. What the hell is wrong with this kid?
