Checketts didn't want to trade Ewing he wanted to let him expire so we could rebuild.

Dolan gave those in charge to "get Ewing out of here no matter what it takes" ultimatum.

Dolan also said he dumped Checkettes and others cause he wanted to have a hand in running the Knicks. Dolan in the same interview laughed as he said he didn't know much about basketball. I remember it clear as day because I was so confused that anyone would do that. Take over and admit you have no idea what you are doing while pushing out very competent people who had built a 14 year long top level team.

Trust me, those who were running the Knicks wanted no part in dumping Ewing for all those contracts. They wanted to rebuild. We were at 56M salary, we would have rode the year out with Ewing, and then been at 42M which I think was near the cap or just under it at the time.

But, Dolan refused to do that, and kicked everyone out when they argued with him over it, and then installed Layden who was his puppet.

He was just looking down at a computer or something he was active in the stands all game. And seriously you guys have tired out the "old man" thing. Just cause he doesn't want to recycle our 60M expirings for every flashy malcontent in the league doesn't mean he's not doing his job. In fact that means HE IS DOING his job and doing it well.

And Anubis, Juice, GKF - you guys have been pessimistic to the point where it's like you wish for failure so you can rag on it. Not so sure why that's so appealing to you guys but it sure seems to make you happy. You guys hate every deal made and get upset at every deal that fails. It's business and this is how things work.

Layden made a mess, Isiah made it worse. Clearly their methods were failures. Donnie put an end to that way of business and has spent 2 years cleaning up the mess it created. When the mess is cleaned up then we will start to build a new team. It appears you guys thought the past two years should have been spent acquiring players - ala Isiah. No, see, first you tear down the mess. Then you start acquiring players.

That little tidbit seems a bit lost on some. Yet, that's what we are doing.

If we come out of this thing with Lowry or Sergio and a protected first rounder going to Houston that might be fun. 3.5 hours left...
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Pessimistic? I dont think so. We havent been good in a decade man.

Walsh isn't giving up the unprotected picks and Jordan Hill isn't worth Jefferies 7 million dollar salary next year. I'd be content with Walsh doing absolutely nothing as to not leave the next GM in a hole.

Juice made some jokes that I thought were funny. I also thought the video of Morey and Walsh was funny.

Im not going to hail Walsh as some great GM because he hasnt done much here. If I did that I'd have to concede that Dunleavy is also a great GM because he dumped 2010 salary for someone they didnt want anyway without giving away picks. Remember Dunleavy traded the supposedly "toxic" deal of Randolph for an expiring which he then flipped into two players which he AGAIN flipped into another expiring.

Sources say that Knicks-Bulls talks on Tyrus Thomas trade have lost traction. "A long shot now," one official says.

I posted this in the TMac to NY thread....Berman just tweeted that Tellam told him the three team deal may be all the same players minus all the picks.

RT @NYPost_Berman: Arn Tellem: 3-way talks ongoing between Knicks-Rockets-Kings and could be the same Knick players involved without picks.

I'll cream myself if we can do it without the picks. Heck, I'll do the swap if we get someone like Sergio Rodriguez. Just don't get only T-Mac and trade away all these picks and Hill just to get rid of Jefferies. There's other ways to do this crap.

This deadline is all about getting rid of Jeffries. I'm not trippin about no damn Tyrus Thomas. Dont really like him anyway. We gotta make this T-Mac deal work without getting worked!

from ric bucher's twitter, seems like tyrus to the bobcats. they're putting together a nice team there:

Deal would be Thomas for Law, Murray and protected future 1st-round pick. Not done, but other suitors for Ty believe it will happen.

Sources say Cha is likeliest destination for Bulls' Ty Thomas right now, in exchange for expiring contracts. Flip Murray/Acie Law works.

We werent offering a first rounder so makes sense for the Bulls to take the Cats deal.

Bulls are still in the playoff hunt and really need a scorer to replace Salmons though. They could use Al for that reason.

the good sign about Tyrus Thomas to Charlotte is that basically means there is no way they are involved in the Tmac deal - there were reports as recent as this morning that they were still trying to get in on the three way.

See what happens when you let LB make trades and not get pissed off to the point you want to fire him, by him doing so. Proving he can be a better GM than the person who was hired to do the job.

to be fair to donnie and mike - they do seem to be on the same page. donnie seems to support make in the personnel decisions.

larry and isiah were horrible together. at least our guys are on the same page. heading into the summer, i think that's a good thing.

chad ford should be fired:
The Bucks and Sixers are in serious trade talks, according to Chad Ford of ESPN.

Jodie Meeks, Francisco Elson and a second round pick would be sent to Philadelphia for Primoz Brezec and Royal Ivey.
