who simply described The Mayor (in derisive terms I might add) as a chucker?

That motherchucker will average 19 this year

Lee is scoring off his teammates play. I am happy for the teammates passing. Lee is not doing anything extraordinary.

Boy you are truly blind. David Lee is a borderline all star player. I can see he expanded his jumper back 5 feet as well. Who else can do what David Lee does on the team? You just dislike Lee--but the bottom line is the guy is a really good basketball player. I think D Lee can average 20 points and 15 rebounds.

Man some people only see what they want to believe. The idea that Lee gives us ANYTHING from his ****ty jumper is the biggest lie perpetuated on UK.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

BTW, who else can do what? Run pick and rolls and work the passing lanes well? A lot of mediocre NBA players can, that's who.

Name one other player in theleague get 16 points a game off pick and rolls with a point guard of duhon talent. They go under the screen everytime. If Lee had Paul or Williams he would get 20 with his closed. If it is so easy have darko or Hill do it.

You have to credit Lee with great movement without the ball! He plays BB the way you should and in this system you get rewarded for that. Just like his unique way rebounding he has great feel for where he needs to be. His jumper has better form and if he adds more consistency he'll be a near All Star.

Man some people only see what they want to believe. The idea that Lee gives us ANYTHING from his ****ty jumper is the biggest lie perpetuated on UK.

The idea is not neccessarily that he gives us 'anything' (or a lot) from his '****ty' jumper-- the point is that he now has a decent jumper where before he had none at all. And if you look at the stats that you linked to, His 2pt fg% of 35% compares to a 37% for Lebron James, a 35% for McGrady, and a 33% for Baron Davis.

You should also look at his inside shot %, which puts him ahead of players such as Yao, Gasol, Bogut, Danny Granger.

So there is no lie being perpetuated, Lee has a serviceable jump shot that is still improving and an above average inside game that works flawlessly in tandem with the Knicks preferred style of play.

great thread guys... I really enjoyed. Was watching GMen yesterday and then had company so I missed the game.

Glad Douglas had a good start. I really had high hopes for him getting in the rotation and giving us some desperatly needed D on the perimeter.

Terrence Williams was my first choice at pick 7

The Lee bashing is nothing short of entertaining. We start Hughes who might play his way out of the rotation and Duhon who is a great backup along with Jared Jefferies and Al "I dont get paid to pass" Harrington and Lee gives you 20/9, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in 25 minutes shooting 60% you guys say he was average and just feeding off his teammates. Good stuff.

Yes sir. I form my opinion from the game I watch, not the box score. Maybe I'd have the same opinion if I didn't see the game but I did. There is nothing great, amazing, all star, go-to guy, etc about David Lee.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

your right. He's not a go-to player, a first option, and he's not an all-star yet. What he is a very very good basketball player who does many things very well and continues to get better.

What he isnt is average, or just a regular NBA player whos stats are inflated by the system or the play of his teammates.

At some point you might (or might not) realize that always being there at the right place at the right time is a skill in itself, and part of what makes a player good.

i really liked what I saw from Lee. he was overmatched defensively with Lopez - who was also impressive - but did good things all around. And his outside shot looked like he wasn't lining it up, just shooting it.

Maybe we will see something differently from David on the defensive end with a lot more depth at the 4/5.

Seems like he has bulked up without losing the explosiveness.

No they can't, because if they could, they would not be mediocre. I think you are so far off on this.... Being good in the pick and roll involves a lot of things. the knicks don't have a nash or chris paul, yet lee has become a borderling allstar off the pick and roll. his ability to finish around the basket, move well without the ball, get to the basket, all contribute to what he has done...

I'd like to see Lee work on some post-up moves. We don't have much of that on this team.

are there ever post-ups in d'antoni's system? seems like he favors more movement.

I did see an effort from Lee on the defensive end yesterday. He might never be that great, but at least maybe sacrifice your rebounding numbers for the sake of help defense, and I did see that yesterday. There were a couple of bad times, but I guess he can't help if Brook Lopez skies over him.

There's no way Gallinari can guard the shooting guards though. That's setting him up for failure and it's not his fault.
