it seems like nate is a polarizing figure to the fanbase. the group is split between: i love the little guy or the guy's a sideshow/clown. inbetween the two extremes is a huge middle ground...
on a side ntoe, will retaining nate hurt the team's long term prospects? the answer should be no but considering this very risky 2010 plan, it seems retaining anybody would jeopardize it...
I think there is a bunch of folks who think that Nate would be very nice off the bench. But Nate wants starter money - like $8M per and I have a feeling Donnie will trade his now very marketable sparkplug.
Personally I think Nate's deserves a five game sample at PG after the last game. He earned it. If I see Duhon starting the next game I will be scratching my head. If a guy has a 33 point 15 assist 9 rebound 5 steal[more like 8-9] game shooting roughly 50%--you give him another .25 for the ride. Nate got gassed and we lost becasue we could not find the 3 point shooters and should've played more methodically down the stretch. I think Dantoni needs to know when to slow it down and find a good shot at the end of games when we have the lead. I know Harrington got a T but he also got the offensive rebound on that play--if he doesnt maybe we don't have those 2 points were a net +1 anyway/ Dantoni is under the microscope here---start Nate and manage end of game situations much better--we lost MANY games at the end this year--we need better coaching and more methodical play at the end.
The one thing about Nate at the point if they let him---he must be smarter about how many 3s he takes. It has to be down to 2-3 maybe 4 a game max. You don't want to take 10 3s because they lead to break outs and comebacks. Take 2 or 3 good three's when wide open. The guy is shooting 52% from 2 this year---stop taking so many 3s Nate.
