I'm not jumping for joy. I'm not doing cartwheels. The fact that Walsh was hired and Isiah is still here is a testament to James Dolan. It is clear Dolan is insisting Isiah Thomas remain. If not as coach, then as something else. Thomas needs to be completely out of the organization. Not as scout or coach or anything else. Out.

Anyway, whatever.

Until I see Isiah Thomas fired - despite this lame speculation - I will not be happy.

A reporter asked if waiting to fire Isiah was a stipulation he and Dolan came to an agreement on. Walsh said that he could assure that reporter that it wasn't(strong words). Another reporter asked what was the point on keeping Isiah Thomas and not firing him already. Walsh stated that that was how he did things.

Isiah is done as coach, the only thing I see for him is some high ranked scouting position in front office or fired.

I believe the only reason why Isiah isn't fired. Is because its Walsh more professional belief. In having a man to man conversation with someone before they fire them. Especially someone that he has known and someone he hired as coach yrs back. He has his own personal relationship & view of Thomas that was formed yrs before Isiah Thomas even came to the Knicks since he worked with him in Indy.

Walsh is just being a professional and working his own way, not the way we want things or someone elses view point. And the fact that he is probably buying time to get Isiahs replacement ready.

agreed. That and Walsh told Isiah to lose the rest of the games for the year. That's important!

The fact that Isiah is no longer in charge makes for a great day!!!

I kinda enjoyed the emasculation of Isiah. They did it when Isiah was on the road with the team. Didn't even allow him to be a part of it. And on a game day when he'll be forced to meet the press at least twice today.

Seems like Isiah is done as coach and this is why I think that. Donnie is going to interview these guys in some capacity and he's gonna realize that the respect for Isiah is absolutely lost and he doesn't have this team, and he's going to find no use for Isiah. And then, he's gonna dump these players arses.

I hope Walsh is true to his words and is commited to cleaning this mess up.

I was just listening to Donnie being interviewed on Mike and the Mad Dog and he said basically that in relation to a question about Isiah. He said that after this afternoon, he realized that he's going to have to do something with Isiah. I don't think he knew how bad it was and how untenable a situation he was walking into when it comes to Isiah's job status.

I'm starting to feel hope that Donnie is going to do the right thing and clean house.

Why is he going to realize that after interviewing Isiah? He already knows Isiah's W-L record. He doesn't need an interview for that. And Isiah's a good speaker

Donnie also said he watches how hard the players have played and how much the "Young players" have played. I dunno if he's gonna have that same opinion at the end of the season.

BTW, Walsh was saying certain things like "OF COURSE you play the young guys now!" "Of course I'm going to be accesible to the media!" "Of course I'm going for cap space and I have a plan!" as if it were his common sense, meanwhile, Isiah and Layden shoot down those ideas with anger and frustration and confusion.

We actually have somebody who's competant at running a team and working with the public? OH MY GOSH!

He just said what folks have been wanting the Knicks GM to say for years that we have not been able to get into the free-agent market for years.
I hope he means it and isn't just BS-ing us to get support. If he really is looking to get under the cap, I'll be THRILLED! That means no more starphucking and finally legitimate rebuilding. He's gonna have to PROVE he means that, but I'm at least a little optimistic.

Bonn, I think Walsh means what he says. If he is lying it will not look good upon him. What to we know, but I think we are going to see change.

I'm not obsessing about Isiah staying with the franchise in some capacity. I do believe there is an opening for a Senior Vice President, Marketing and Business Operations. That would be perfect.

And I also get the feeling that Isiah is done because on Mike and the Mad Dog, Walsh said he got the sense that Isiah was spreading a bad aroma (Not exactly what he said but around that area) around the team and city, based on the questions people asked him at the press conference.

I actually really like everything that Walsh is saying. He's still gonna have to earn my support with his actions, but I must admit I'm getting a little optimistic!
