i didn't know there could be no wildcard team at anytime. care to find this rule?

this discussion is moot b/c officially, the season CAN NOT end today b/c of the game discrepency between seattle in ny. so seattle is NOT in the wild card - that's my point.

yay we've come full circle back to my original post to Bonn, Yankees aren't leading the division nor or they wildcard team. Btw, it CAN happen in baseball where one of the teams doesn't play 162 games.

yes it was. I think people need to get past clemens trying to live up to that ridiculous contract. If he were to win the cy young, that still would not justify that type of deal. what we needed clemens for was to solidify the staff, a locker room presence and a guy who would go out and compete and keep us in games, and so far he has done that pretty much, last night epitomizes the type of gamer he is.....

swept the sox. division title aspirations are still alive since we have 3 more with the sox in september.

but more immediately, we need to beat up tampa and take 2 of 3 from seattle. then we have 3 vs. kc.

seattle finishes with anaheim, then plays the en fuego cleveland indians, the yanks and detroit so perfect time for the yanks to get some room between them and seattle.

If you wanna be trivial, then at the moment of this post, the Yankees ARE the wild card team. Bottom line is, the Yankees have a much better remaining schedule than Seattle and have a better team than Seattle.

(Oh yeah, and the Yankees STILL have a better record and a better team than the Mets!)

how was it being trivial? it was the truth. yankees have had one of the easiest 2nd half schedules in all of baseball, thats why they have turned it around.

His argument doesn't even work anyway. Post all-star break, the Yankees are 11-6 against the elite teams of the AL (those at least ten games over .500). They've been beating up on great teams, awful teams, and everything in between.

No Met fan should be talking about easy schedules. The Mets are in a very weak league.

As a National League team, by definition the Mets get to play bad teams all the time.

In the last few weeks, the Yankees have played Cleveland (Division leader), Detroit twice (Defending AL Champ and in the playoff race), LA Angels (Division leader) and Boston (Division leader and best record in baseball).

What is this Mets fan talking about exactly?

Oh and the Yankees are 12-8 in those games.

Outside of the top five teams? You can't be serious. That's like saying, outside of Dallas, San Antoni, Houston, Phoenix, and Utah, who is so good in the west compared to the east of the NBA? Dude FIVE superior teams in one conference are more than enough to make the leagues totally imbalanced.
