steph is playing with his heart on his sleeve. the knicks are inches away from a playoff spot...and he is the only one laying it out there in these crucial games. he did miss a free-throw that he probably wishes he could take again. But hey.... just gotta win some games now that much more. if anyone is going to talk trash about steph... you are just hating just to hate. respect the only guy playing right now...like he wants to be in the playoffs. i really hope he does get the knicks in this year. i really do.

He's the 'only one' laying it out there? What a joke!

No one else is helping out because he's hogging the ball again! He scored 40 points (anyone can do that) and has only '3' assists! He's hogging the ball.
I'll never trust this' team again.

"anyone can do that"??? Did you see the shots he made or when he made them?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I don't think D lost us this game. The D wasn't airtight, but nonetheless Earl Watson played over his head and Allen and Lewis hit a bunch of tough, well contested shots in the 4th.

The offense in this game is what was subpar. Because Curry is such a poor passer, immediate double teams basically neutralize his presence on offense. Compound that with the absence of Jamal's jumper and quickness (compared to slugs like Q and Francis), the absence of Lee's offensive rebounding, and the absence of Frye's basketball spirit, and basically we are left with Marbury and not much else on O. The poor FT shooting hurt, but it wasn't like a freak accident or anything-- the two guys who hurt us at the line were Curry and Jeffries, who've both struggled from the line all season.

Both teams average 99-100 ppg and thats what both teams scored, so it's hard to argue it's either/or on the offensive or defensive end.

However, it's hard to argue that allowing the Sonics 52% FG and 54% 3PT is acceptable.

Either way, this team can't be counted on on either end of the court until they can exhibit more consistent fire from game to game and quarter to quarter. I think Seattle appeared to "want it" more earlier in the game and that shows up in several aspects of the game. We really don't have many guys who exhibit a killer spirit and/or who understand their roles and carry it out with zeal. The reason it appears to be an offensive issue is that is the area where this team typically displays passion.

WHo are our pacesetters? Marbury when he's allowed to be Starbury, but not really as a distributor. Crawford does when he's hot, otherwise he floats. Lee does always and that's why he's our primary pacesetter. And Curry did for that one stretch, but he's dropped off considerably since around the all-star break. 3 of those 4 guys do their thing primarily on offense, so that is where we expect to see them show up and we notice when they don't. Poor D almost flies under the radar because we expect so little of it.

So Jamal is out for the season but we'll get a boost when Lee is back. The question appears to be whether Marbury and Curry can integrate their game. I have seen Marbury set Curry up for some nice feeds but they are usually dish-offs from penetrations or within a motion system. I think we need to get back to that style of play. It's the only way to keep the defense from catching us in a zone or constantly doubling Curry.

If we can do that successfully maybe we can get our average above 100 ppg and stay ahead of our poor D. Otherwise we're gonna have to work a little harder to keep the opponent from shooting over 50%. I don't really care which side of the court our killer spirit shows up, but either way we need more than one guy at a time playing his heart out.

Great post blueseats, I think malik rose said earlier in the season, some guys are intimidated by playing in the garden, and I don't think that most people got the sense of what he was saying.what I think he meant is that, most teams and most players seem to up their games when they play the knicks, I am sorry, but extremely average bums like earl watson shoot 75% from three when he averages 26% on the season? Decent players like Al Harrington look like superstars instead of oneway players who were traded 3 times in 3years, it seems as if guys, good players and scrubs raise their games, and the players on the knicks know this, but many are just not up to the pressure or challenge. I am not saying the knicks are the spurs, but teams seem to get up for us as if we were... We never seem to match that intensity unless the TEam is a good team, that would give NY a "trophy" win.

Again, I think we need to understand what we have, and what we need. we have a lot of one way players. We need a lot more of david lee and we need Isiah to make frye more a part of this team and no some spot up shooter, we need to understand that curry may never be a franchise player. Tonight just underscores our weakness, the lack of concentration, mental toughness, smarts and ability to jump on weaker teams early, imposing your will, these are what the knicks lack, so it is no suprise i guess, that the game ended the way it did...

'Wow, he must have looked like supreman, huh'? God I wish I was they're! Throwing everything he ever had in his life, up in the air, praying, wishing with all of his mighty strength that it would go in, somehow, a miracle shot, not to be denied, while carrying the entire team (oh hell' three teams) on his weakened back. One that can no longer take the beating, thrust upon it day in and day out. Why there's no other NBA player like him. Never was, never will be again! Yup! Broke the mold they did. Better have, becaue could the league handle the greatness of TWO or maybe even THREE satrbury's?...................I think not!!! Hold me back, hold me back! starbury in the house y'all!!!

And don't forget to buy a pair of his sneakers.
I'll never trust this' team again.

TKF It would help if the coach wouldn't downplay the non must win games before they happen. I brought this up in another thread and I'll say it again........

A reporter should ask ISAYUGH...... What motivation do teams have when they come to play the Knicks, in particular the bad teams?

When your own coach starts to 'downplay the non must win games, before they happen' then you know we're in trouble.

I tried to point out some things in a different way before, as far as improvement, but now I'm taking a different route. We need major change on this team, starting with Thomas.

Marbury was 8-11 from 3pt land which is 72% 3pt shooting, 59% from the field. And some of you guys are complaing about him ball hoging. Is that a joke?

I don't care what position you are playing. When you are hitting 59% from the field and 72% from beyond the arc, you are allowed to shoot and shoot often.

Marbury wasn't hogging it. His shots came in the flow of the offense and he took over when we needed it in the 4th.

He played 40 plus minutes, and had only 3 assists! Of course he hogged the ball!

Okay' then let's see him do it every game! NO excuses, no excuses!!! I want to see the great starbury take over and win these games. If he can't do it, then he's just as good as a bum!
