Because he is Thomas. Mike and Mike said it on their show after the draft. 19 teams passed him up but only Isiah takes the shot. Mike Breen calls the pick controversial. I guess Balkman killed someone and I don't know about it. I guess they know what they talking about because those are the same people who were screaming when he drafted a David Lee while Chris Taft and Andray Blatche were on the board. Oh I forgot everyone wanted David Lee too.

Zackly. I'll bet if we could search we would find that many of the same guys who Lee is their favorite player will have been going on negatively about David Lee when he was drafted and will be the same dudes going on about Balkman.

Isiah was considered to be a jerk throughout his whole career, but he was a great player. He still is coinsidered a jerk but he is a very good drafter.

I trust his drafting just like I trusted his playing ability.

We all also say Greg Anthony sucked. Does that make anything right? Just because we all said it isn't an excuse. This is my basic argument. Why is Zeke the only guy being held to a higher standard? I was sure Anthony had said something to set Isiah off but nixluva confirmed it. Maybe it was something worse that we didn't hear. Did Isiah have to get personal? Did Greg Anthony have to suggest Isiah drafted Balkman cause of the agent?
If that set him off fine. If it's a one time thing, fine. If he is extremely sensitive to it, fine. If this was a one time thing. It isn't.

This makes 2 reporters/journalists/columnists in 2 years that Isiah has blown up at. Does that not concern you? He threatened to kick one's ass and he shat on the other one's career. He somehow said that saying something negative about what Isiah did, somehow made Anthony not an ex-Knick.

There seems to be a pattern here, IMO. Waht, will Isiah not be happy until the media doesn't question him? That everything he does is good? Do we have to hold him in a bubble?

You talk about holding Isiah to a higher standard. I want Isiah held to the New York standard. Joe Torre, Pat Riley, Willie Randolph, Mike Keenan, Gary Carter, Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley, John Starks, Ernie Grunfeld, Jeff Van Gundy, Bernie Williams, Jeter, Paul O'Neil, Rivera, Wright, Reyes....All these guys have it. This is the standard I hold ALL NY sports figures and figureheads to.

All I know is with all this talking Isiah better be able to produce a winning team this year.

I guess Isiah is trying to tell his team from the start that he has their backs. As far as Greg Anthony I wonder if he is going to respond to Isiah.

ROFLMAO looking at some of you guys defending AG because IT got in his *** a little bit. You're jumping on IT for defending one of HIS players and you take offense to that. HAHAHA some of you guys crack me up. You're a fan of your team or you're like everyone else jumping on the Knicks because it's the popular thing to do nowadays? 180 and something posts here and 90% of you guys are upset because IT called out someone for beating up on him and the team. Then you jump on the posters here for rallying behind IT and saying "HALLELUJAH" that someone with some backbone is willing to stand up for this team. Why you're worried about what IT said? You're not going to stand up for this team. You can't possibly be willing to stand up for this team because you see nothing good about the team or who is running it. The posts speak for themselves...

Thats not fair at all joe. You think he is the only coach in a sports thats done this? Like someone else said, this would all be different if he was a winning coach. Let me ask you something. If I find an example of another major league coach going after a reporter, will you call that guy out? Even if he happens to be one of your favorite coaches?

Being classy (not getting personal) is not a prerequisite to being a good athlete/coach. Why just stop at reporters? Seriously? Why not say Cuban is an a-hole for questioning the referees or the NBA being rigged. I remember Jim Fassel going after Jimmy Johnson for calling his team soft. Jim Fassel clearly told Jimmy Johnson to stick to playing golf. NO ONE, said a damn thing then. Patrick Ewing was said to be a dick that doesn't sign kids autographs. Does that make him a bad person? Greg Anthony questions Isiah's pick and suggests he didnt make the pick based on talent evaluation. (IMO) Isiah responds, in kind.

P.S: It doesnt concern me how he deals with reports. Not one bit. What concerns me is his win-loss record in 2006-07. He better back it up.

I've been wanting to dis Greg Anthony myself ever since they traded Mark Jackson to open up a spot for his bum ass (Yeah I know Cheeks stepped into Jackson's spot but it was to free up the spot for GA)

GREG ANTHONY SUCKS! AS A PLAYER AND A BROADCASTER!

Once again, I'll give Isiah credit for the huge juevos you so easily give him credit for when he says **** to this man:

Isiah, tell this guy he ain't an ex-Knick. Than I suggest you duck because you're about the same size as Jeff McInnis.

I can name 100 pro athletes that don't sign autographs-well not really but you get my point. Ok...so every example you use-except for Ewing-has to do with in the heat of the moment acts. Isiah has yelled at 2 reporters for calling what they saw. I understand where you are coming from, and once again I hold Isiah to the same standards I hold all the New York athletes that I mentioned. None of them-and I repeat none of them-have ever made their team the circus that Isiah has made the KNicks.

Why? Your position is that it doesnt matter who he says it to. Are you saying that if he told Tim Hardaway to STFU wouldn't bother you much? Are you saying that if Isiah was a winning coach or GM, you wouldn't care what he said to Greg Anthony?

joe, if you point is that Isiah should'nt say anything cause he isn't winning then its a different debate. Seriously. Then we can rehash the Larry Brown sabotage, Lenny Wilkens meltdown and TT no show. None of that requires him to shutup when someone pissed him off about his previously criticized draft pick.

My point is Isiah not only made it personal(and in the process made himself look hypocritical). He is not the first coach to have to deal with the NY media or media in general. He seems to have a major problem when they doubt him (or put themselves in"a place to question him"). He has actually accomplshed less than nothing his whole time here, wins going down year by year.

He has absolutely no leeway to act like he accomplshed anything here-He was FORCED to coach a basketball team the HE built because he doesn't want to!

He is making this into a circus again this season.

I responded to your thread before the edit. I didn't say I required him to shut up at all. Many players and managers have been on NY teams during very bad times(read my list almost all of them have), and kept their dignity and class. And didn't make a joke of their team.

My problem is a Knick fan being upset with the GM/Coach for standing up for his player and his team. You obviously will not stand up for this team. So when the man stands up for himself, you take offense to that...A knick fan upset because the coach defended his team by taking a reporter to task. Honestly, what do you think is wrong with this picture???

This GA thing is all part of IT's master plan: "It is us against the world, the media hates us, but I am going to fight for you, so go out on the court and share the ball and play like your life depended on it for me and show these mofos that we are the KNICKS baby." I can hear IT saying this to his players before every game.

That's all BS. He isn't standing up for his team. re-read the whole quote on what he says about Anthony.
He's definitely made you notice him," said Thomas, who reiterated that Balkman reminds him of former teammate Dennis Rodman. "I said I wanted to have a blank canvas, but he definitely has put some paint on the canvas."

Then Thomas went after Anthony, calling him "a so-called former Knick who on draft night, with millions of people watching, had the audacity to take me to task on a player that I'm pretty sure he had never seen before in his life.

"Greg Anthony should never, ever be in a position to question myself on anything about basketball, because I do remember the kind of player he was," Thomas said. "I'll leave it at that."

But he didn't.

"I know a Piston never would do that," Thomas said. "A Celtic never would do that. A Laker never would do that ... That just goes to show you what we're dealing with."

This was about Isiah being pissed that Anthony questioned his pick and his priorities.
