Why should the US show the world they can play soccer? No Americans like soccer, its probably the 5th or 6th most popular sport. Lacrosse is more popular in most areas.

I have really given soccer a chance with these World Cups, and I truly do enjoy the artistry and sheer athleticism of these guys. What they can do with their feet is just a pleasure to watch.

Regardless, I find there is WAY WAY WAY too much flopping or diving or whatever its called. What a bunch of cowards, any time there is ANY contact, a guy is screaming like his leg has been sawed off. Thats the only thing thats really getting to me, is the constant babying by these guys just lying around and acting as if they got shot in the stomach. Why is this accepted? The refs are not only terrible but have way too much power, and the constant yellow/red carding + diving makes me understand why its never picked up in the US.

I don't think thats the reason. it has more to do with the fact that there are too many other sports and no time for commercials.

I had a bad feeling about this game. They should've played for the win against Italy. Settling for a tie was a bad idea. Shouldn't be banking on Italy beating Czech eventhough they did and certainly shouldn't expect to be Ghana who are really good

how do you play to win in soccer/football down 10 guys to 9? once it got to that point, the fact that they tied, to me, was impressive.

and i didnt mean to knock soccer/football, i'll continue to watch, i'm really fascinated by how goals are scored. but the flopping just drives me insane, it reminds me of vlade divac back in the day, when shaq was still a dominant force.

So far IMO game of the tournament, Australia vs Croatia. That was the most intense game I have ever seen!!!! Jeez. On for the history book. Name the only player in World Cup history to recieve three yellow cards in one game? Ans: Josip Simunic, last night. The ref completely lost control.

Hey, Darkknicks, Reyes is starting today. Let see how he does. Whats the over/under on the first minute he falls to the floor screaming because someone looked at him too hard?

Larry Brown for Brazil!!!!

Well they do have a bunch of pass first playmakers, but I don't think the showboating will sit well with LB. He will probably break them all down, teach them how the play the right way, criticize Ronaldinho in the press, demand Kaka be sent to the Mexico team and ask the brazilian govornment to naturalize Eric Snow and Theo Ratliff to play in defensive midield and attack. He will leave Robinho, Cicinho, Adriano and Kaka out as they are not vets and they need to learn from the pros. When things don't go well, Larrinho will be in the papers sighing and looking depressed saying 'all I ask is that they play the right way. But they just want to dribble and play pretty soccer! This is a team game. I shouldn't have to teach this!' He will then have secret meetings with Spain to become their coach before becoming Frances new coach.

The energy has been unbelievable in this match. Mexico's is sort the of the Miami Heat to the US' Knicks, so I can't root for them! Plus Messi and Riquelme of Argentina are awesome players...hopefully Messi comes in later.

being Brazilian I have to root against Argentina lol

I think Germany is slightly better than Argentina and Brasil is just warming up. Gotta love these elimination games!

Germany was unbelievable in the first game. They absolutely buried Sweden so early on with all their shots and pressure.

Brazil was looking beatable early on but that 2nd half against Japan was amazing!

Both teams have been knocking at the door hear. Borghetti just delivered a nice strike but Argentina's keeper made the save!
