Gooden went a little under-rated last year and while he is only 6-10 245
, I guess that is a new pre-requisite for an NBA F/C. We could pair both together giving us some much needed length at 4-5 Now I dont see either a a great defender, but both do provide length and Gooden is proven. If this is team that is supposed to be more mobile, longer and more athletic, doesnt Gooden make sense for PF?

C Frye 6- 10 243
F Gooden 6-10 245
F Thomas 6-10 245
G Crawford
G Marbury

Now its not the best defensive team, But it does provide us length and more proven rebounding and scoring from 4.

They want a first round pick so bad, and if they want Rahim--give them Sweetney and pick 30.

if you project his numbers at 40 minutes, you are looking at 20 points 12 rebounds 1.4 blocks and he has shot the ball at a very high %

...considering the Raps don't take Frye at #7, he's prolly the Knicks first pick this draft.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Gooden sucks. He'll never play big minutes until he learns how to concentrate. If you've ever seen him, you'd see that he forgets assignments on both ends of the court. Also, his only way to score is on put backs & (Lebron) alley-oops.....completely un-polished post game.

Can we get past this non-sense of size-weight = production?

That's pretty hilarious.. you listing Frye at 6'10... every other publication has him at 6'11. He was 6'9 1/2 without shoes.. so that makes him 6'10 3/4. Taller than Zoe Mourning.

He'd make the team better coming off the bench. I think the starting lineup would be..

Marbury
Crawford
Thomas 6'9
Sweetney 6'8
Frye 7'0 :)

Well, isiah was trying to get Gooden. I mean he is a much better % player than Q. If the model is going to be up tempo with length+athletiscm, doesnt Gooden fit the bill better than Sweet? Im trying to go with Isiah's flow here. Gooden has shown a spectacular upside --i.e how about 16 points 21 rebounds 4 blocks or 24 points 15 rebounds 8 assits? As a player gets older, intangibles like focus and team play increase. As for the comments about a post game--he has a very solid offensive arsenal in an all around fashion-post-jump shot. If the model is run and gun, Mike Sweetney is not a player that fits, but Gooden does.

Briggs....good argument re: the Gooden/Sweetney comparison.

I'd prefer Q than Gooden though. I just don't like Gooden. I think he lacks fire & basketball IQ. Of course, getting Q puts serious pressure on getting size via draft, MLE & other trades.

Why not? Two reasons. One - Cavs backed out of the deal for Kurt at the deadline. Two - Deal for Richardson most likely goes through, so we wouldn't have Kurt to trade them anyway.

Perhaps it has been discussed again, and the new owners or the new GM don't want KT now, or move Gooden. It likely has been taken out of Isiahs hands.

I agree with Briggs on this one. Gooden would be a good fit. He's not a superstar, but check out some of his rebounding games last year, he had games of 20 rebs several times. He's a good player who hasn't been featured in the right system yet. I would trade Sweetney and pick 30 for Gooden in a fraction of a second.

I just checked and Gooden had 10 games with 14 or more rebounds. And he didn't even get consistant minutes this season - he was in Silas' dog house. I know Silas wanted to do the Kurt for Gooden trade, I don't know if the new management/coach would want to trade Gooden...

Nalod's posts are all poetry...I never know whether it's well thought out and has a deeper meaning beyond my understanding, or whether it's just some random things he feels like posting to help come down from a high.

definately... i really dont expect sweets to be on the roster at the beginning of the season. with the subtraction of sweets+allan, this team will be completely built by isaih.

kareem didn't fit the notion of a fast break run and gun team.

sweets is fine for uptempo style- he is quick up the court & gives you good option when you need to run half court set.

agree that I would rather have had gooden than Q.

Well, I would draft Bynum and would work a different angle than what is presently being done. I would have tried to do anything I could with ANYONE on this roster to get both Granger and Bynum, and worked from there. I feel with two wings like Ariza and Granger coupled with Bynum would be my new core to build around. Build a team that is concentrated on defense+rebounding/shot blocking/ toughnes with superior athletic ability and skills.

but the last time i checked im a message board poster

so im trying to piece what isiah is doing--he [i guess] is trying to build a quick paced team that spreads the floor and shoots more 3s, and Drew gooden would fit that model better than Sweetney

i m going with reality, this is what they are doing--they are trying to go up tempo--I would not do it, but if this is what they are going to do, then you must find pieces that fit.

one thing briggs - you say to look at marbury, craw, or frye and see if they're tough enough to be a championship type player.

but look at gooden. you think he could be on a detroit or san antonio?
If we are going to draft frye--why not go after Gooden?
