Yep, I'll say it first (or the most recent) the Yankees bloated payroll, senile management and overpayed bench players...yep, that's the knicks.

Can you say Allen Giambi? Or is it Jason Houston? Either way, damaged goods.

I know Houston used to be Jeter, but he's talking alot these days and not playing, but it's more the untradeable contract.

Arod is Marbury (I know, it's a stretch, but use your imagination)

The pitching coach needs to go!!!
all kool aid all the time.

I stretched it...sorry, but I think you see the parallels to the payroll and aged roster.

From a Knicks standpoint, "Here's hoping. We can only hope that we can get a Yankee like quality."
From the Yankee fan inside, "Dear God, please no!"

What about kicking the ***es of this pathetic players supposed to be "all stars"? The Knicks have little talent, at least they have excuses. But the Yankees? They are pathetic underachievers! They believe they should win because they have the pinstripes and the millions? There you have it! A pathetic team! This guys don't know true baseball! Grrr!!!!!! Hate them!

From the Knicks standpoint: "Give us no salary cap and we'll win it all every year! Give us the talent the Yanks have and we'll build a dinasty!"
From the Yankees standpoint: "Give us someone to remind us how baseball is played and maybe we'll be back. Just maybe"

The problem with the Yankees is that lots of baseball decisions are made by a non-baseball guy, when Steinbrenner demands to sign this guy or trade for that guy. Dolan might be similiarly detrimental to the Knicks. However I think that Dolan has bought into Zeke's plan, so he has some more elbow room. Dolan knows that he isn't a basketball guy, but if the Knicks don't make the playoffs again next year, who knows what will happen.

Right now the yankess make me sick, I never like the Randy johnson and kevin brown trades, those are proving to be bad, but the knicks would be lucky to have two winners like Rivera and Jeter, as long as the yankees have those two, there is hope, what do the knicks have that is by any shape or form close to those two?

Over the past five years, the Yankees have basically accomplished what even an awful GM like Layden could with no salary cap and no maximum salaries and no requirements about salaries matching in trades: O championships and about a .600 winning percentage.

Like Ariza was last season, Cano may be the only bright spot of the summer for New York.

The differences between the Yankees and the Knicks are:

1) There is no salary cap in MLB, so the Yankees can add top tier players in their prime if George stops listening to the Tampa faction.

2) The Yankees are stocked at the lower levels of the minor leagues no matter what the morons in the media say (Hughes, Cabrera, Vechionacci, Clippard, Gomez, Garcia, Battle, Smith, etc.), and more will be added in Tuesday's amateur draft. If George isn't stupid enough to trade them, the Yankees will have a new homegrown core in place to surround with veterans acquired through free agency and trades. It's all about making smart decisions. Stick Michael, who along with Buck Showalter, assembled the core that won the 4 rings, should be give the authority over player personnel decisions.

3) Despite underperforming in the first two months of the season, the Yankees still have some of the best players in baseball, like A-Rod, Jeter, Rivera, and some young talented players like Wang and Cano.

Taken together the Yankees, unlike the Knicks, can be on a top within a year if the team is run correctly.

btw, To anyone who wants to dismiss the fact that the Yankees haven't won a WS since 2000, in every year since they lost in the playoffs to the team that ultimately won the WS (2001: the D'backs; 2002: the Angels; 2003: the Marlins; 2004: the Sox). That is no small accomplishment.

Thank you... Jeter put it very well when asked why they hadnt won a WS since 2000. He said the best teams make the playoffs and the hottest team wins it. With the exception of 97, for the last 9 years the Yankees have either won the title (4 times) or lost to the team that won the title.

Sorry... I just dont see any similar trends there regarding the Knicks. I 100% agree that the Yankees have made some very bad $$$ decisions but just an FYI: There's still OVER a 100 games to play. Just thought I would mention that.

They should be SOOOOO ashamed of themselves right now. This team is so pathetic it makes me sick too. They indeed have some of the best players in baseball, and look what that has produced this season. George believes its all about stars, but this season, and last ones too, teams keep beating us playing good fundamentally team baseball. This team is all about home runs and great pitching, and when none of them is there, you see how pathetic they can be.

Great players, they have. Terrible team they have too...

why are you taking pride in the fact that the Yankees lose to the team that wins the world series every year? This is not a team constructed to take pride in just making it to the playoffs. Do you think Jordan would have been happy losing in the playoffs to the team that went on to win the championship every year? Should Ewing have been happy to lose to the Bulls because the Bulls went on to win championships? Taking pride in losing to the team that wins the championship is just a loser mentality.

At least the last years the Yankees have had great or good teams. Year by year it looks like the quality diminishes. Last year's choke in the ALCS was terrible, and this season things are just too awful to watch. Yeah, there are still 100 games left to play, but this team is showing no signs for us to be optimistic about those games left. Loss after loss. It will be like with the Knicks, there was still hope of them making the playoffs when there were enough games and we weren't completely out of contention. Once we are finally eliminated, its all frustration. In baseball you may have a lot of games, but what does that to you when your division leader is stil 15 or 20 games above you? This Yankees weren't built to be around .500, they were built to lead the AL East and win another championship. They better start winning soon, because the Orioes don't look to be losing any ground, and Boston is hanging there. Oh, and don't forget about Toronto.

If they don't do something now when they can, the Yankees will be doomed, no matter if they still have 60 or 50 games left...

you can only use duct tape for so long before things fall apart- I'd say that for this comparison to make sense, you go back to the knicks of the 90's that made the play offs every year, but loss to Jordan or the rockets- close but not close enough.

then, on the downward part of ewings career, rather than blow it up, it was one more move to try to get back- it was trade ewing and re-load, but the core was gone or getting older, just like now for the yankees it is.

agreed though that its a long season and didn't the yankees have a huge win streak before this last loosing streak. I'm sure they'll get on a roll again and probably make the play offs.

This has to be the dumbest post ever, the Yankees have been to the series 4 out of the last 6 years and have multiple titles, the Knicks are disgraceful, they are in th biggest market on earth and we don't have a title to show for ourselves since 1973..........

The Yankees have good coaches something the knicks do not, an owner that obviously doesn't accept losing something Dolan does, and they still have stars that can carry the team, the knicks have not one........

well I'm glad I never said anything about taking pride in losing, because I would not want to be labeled as having a losers mentality.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a Yankee or Yankee fan that takes any solace in having lost to teams that went on to win titles. My only point was the Yankees either were the best or were beaten by the best. It just backs up Jeter's point that they hit some hot teams. Its not an excuse, guys with 4 rings dont make excuses
