A.if Bynum is there at 8 would you take him with the top so called 6 selected and lets say Martell Webster picked 7th?

B If we found out that Bynum would fall to 7 and Toronto wanted him, yet Utah would trade places with us for cash and next years 06 SA pick, would you do that either

My answer is yes on both. No explanation needed. It gives Isiah and company TIME because it really represents a lot of hope and gives NY a real legit skilled athletic big man, something that we crave,

Yes to both of these choices.
I don't see Utah doing choice B, though.
I'm intrigued that Green MIGHT fall into our laps if Bynum's stock rises. No doubt that Toronto is the spoiler, here. Green probably won't get past the Raptors if Bynum is gone before pick 7, too. Toronto could really rain on our draft party. I'd rather have Bynum (big over small) but Green's upside is huge, too. Agreed, Briggs?
We will NEVER win with Marbury as our cameo guy.

Briggs if I was in the NYK situation I would pass on all guards. Pass on all PFs and consider only a center with the 8th pick. with that said I have no problems with the Knicks taking a center at the position Bynum, Frye or Petro. I think its time for the kNicks to draft for need not the best available player or best available potential. Because we all know when you draft the best available pf he is behind 8 pfs on the Knicks to start and it is more frustrating than it is good for the fans and the player. In a way Bynum can be a blessing for this team as he is full of potential and he meets a need at a position where they do not even have a center. I don't think the Knicks can pass on that. If Isiah picks up a sf, sg, pf or a pg then he would have failed as a GM because this team doesn't need any of those positions. You have Ariza who is only going to get better. Sweetney who is starting material, Crawford and MArbury. What is missing here is a Center.

If they had to trade up to get him then yes I want the Knicks to do it as long as they get a center and right now Bynum tops the wish list make the deal to Utah and get Bynum.

No and No.. He's a developmental center. He should go later than 7. Toronto has a raw center on its roster that got picked too high.. they won't be repeating that mistake. Now you have us trading up? Bynum's hype is greater on this board than any I've seen. Maybe you actually know something... sounds like he's really raw from what I've read.. I'd trade down to get him.. but at #8? No way.

I wouldn't matter at all grabing him at #8. We need a prospect at C and it seems like he is a good one...

I would consider him at 8 but would not trade up. He's athletic and big but not skilled at all. He's not really even a basketball player yet. He's exactly what Diop was coming into the league. That is why i'm wiery of him. Bynum proved he's raw because he didn't even hit a third of his shots. That's terrible. I only play division 2 college ball and i expect my big men to hit shots open and hit more than half of them. Bynum is a nice prospect but has a long ways to go and is a huge risk.

Ditto. I would take him at 8, but definitely wouldn't trade up. Taking him at 8 is risk enough becuas eit comes at the expense of other players who we could pick at that position like Joey Grahm or Martell Webster, who contrary to some peoples thinking, could help this team right away.

I like Bynum I think we should get him now because there is no way we'll be able to get him later. But I wouldn't trade up for him. Hes gonna be getting paid alot of money to travel with the team and see garbage minutes his first 2 seasons. I wouldn't add 3 million and another pick on top of that. Thats too much. The kid hasn't done anything yet and he might not ever do anything. Whats the difference between him and any other young big? He's bigger. Thats really the only difference. Having said that I like him too and if he's there at 8 i would take him. If Isiah picks someone else i trust that as well.

If we can for the most part trust Isiah with whomever he picks then why doesn't that extend to him deeming Bynum worthy enough to ditch next years Spurs 06 pick + 3 Mill? If Isiah picks him after trading up I totally trust & defer to that choice. Get Bynum at 8 or 5 and move strong and hard for Kwame with Kurt and whatever else is needed (Kwame, who i'm telling you is sitting pretty for a break out season in a new location). Get Akindele at 30 (if he's there) and Stoudamire at 54 and call it a day. If Hodge is available at 30 then i'd love for him to be paired with Marbury and Crawford. Next years roster:

PG Marbury/Hodge/Crawford
SG Houston/Crawford/Stoudamire/Hodge
SF Ariza/Tiny Tim/JYD/Hodge(in 3 guard lineup)
PF Sweetney(starting)/MoT/Malik/JYD
C Kwame/Bynum/Butler

Tiny Tim and Penny go at the trading deadline. Buh Bye to Bruno and Jackson.
I think that's 15 with a choice of putting Houston , Penny and Stoudamire on the IR

It amazing to me that some people here just don't get it, Briggs. Taking Bynum at 8 is a moderate risk/skyhigh reward situation. For all the bad drafting and draft day trading that we've done recently, this is a situation where we can attone for some of those bad choices. Drafting Bynum at 8 is a NOFREAKINBRAINER to me.
Furthermore, regarding Zeke, this a now a two year plan, it's obvious to me. Expiring contracts, young players like Ariza, Crawford and Sweetney maturing, stockpiling draft choices, signing CBA players like Butler...it all is starting to make sense to me. Grabbing Bynum for the 5 (let's all pray that he is there at 8!) is the gigantic missing piece to this puzzle.

I don't know if it's a no brainer to draft him. What were his high school #s? I thought someone else posted that he averaged 17 PPG in high school whereas a guy with his body should be putting up 40 PPG in high school. He sounds like he has a ton of potential, but people are really leaping to huge conclusions without even having seen him play. I'm not sure he's done anything on the basketball court that's more impressive than what Kwame Brown, who was drafted ahead of Richard Jefferson and Joe Johnson, had done at the same age. (No, I'm not saying he's the next Kwame; I'd gladly take him if he were impressive in workouts, but I still wouldn't make the huge leaps people are making about him.

Never thought I'd come across a Sox fan with some brains, haha jk

I agree with you, Bynum should be the guy the Knicks draft and let see if he can become the new face of the New York Knicks for the next 10-15 years. I know thats expecting alot from a 18 year old but the guy has the skills to do it and New York is in desperate need for someone like him to come along and put an anchor down on that Center position becuase thats what this team really needs. Let Bynum learn for 2 years and then watch what him and Marbury will be able to do as a 1-2 punch 3 years from now, throw in the maturity of Ariza and Crawford and you got 4 really solid players right there. Bynum has to be the guy at 8.

Yes on Both. Next year's SA pick is gonna be like 28-30 anyway unless Duncan got hurt very early in the season. Trade that to move up 2 spots? Sure.

this is a diamond in the rough pick, absolute steal. think, he was rated #6 rivals top 100 while he had a senior season in which he was hurt and overweight due to a bone bruise and still put up something like 22 points 15 reb 6-7 blocks in like 24 minutes

Look at the F shape this kid is in now, heck mike sweetney should follow whatever andrew did, hes just another person. if andrew was in shape like this all season and played a full season, he would be above Gerald Green for number 1.

I understand that some people dont get it, dont understand what this kid is or what he is going to do. I know what he is going to be, a franchise C in the nBA and a dm good one. Ill bet there will be teams crying all over again that they bypassed this opporunity.

its very easy for us to say he might be a good center- but he could be the next tractor trailor- and you might be passing on a much better player just because you're in love with the thought of him being 7ft and 275.

do we need a center? Yes.

Can we afford to piss this pick? No!

Still, I think you try to get the most talented player available.

Yes, I would ask for lottery protection (at least to top three), but I would do it even if they refused.

I think the pick under that scenario would stay with SA. Hoopshype refers to the the SA pick we got from the Nazy trade as a "conditional first round pick"; I'm assuming that means there's already some sort of lottery protection

i afraid for all Knick fans if they take Bynum.

i'd rather take the best player available and live with it. I'm not so sure that Bynum would be the best player available if he was still around when the Knicks picked. I'd take Webster tho.

Splitter may be the Knicks pick so get ready

I want a freak at any position, one that works hard. Bynum is large.. but doesn't have freakish athleticism. Brendan Haywood was a comparison I heard after the the McD.. with few post moves.. and no footwork. He's really raw.

With Granger, Wright, Graham, or Webster... you're getting a mismatch at their respective positions. When Tim Thomas was on, the Knicks were a competitive team. We need to accumulate good young players that will contribute for five years. Bynum might not be that.. at #8. If we're at #19, different story.

If his workouts show freakish athleticism.. than that's a whole different story.

I think some are looking at this with rose colored glasses. I'm very worried Bynum will be gone and with our luck Toronto will take him at 7. If Bynum is really this great center project everyone thinks he is then how can you compare him to Araujo? Toronto could be done on Araujo. They problably think his ceiling isn't very high.

Look if Green is there for Toronto then I can see them taking him over Bynum to replace the stardom of VC but you really think they're gonna take Webster or Wright over Bynum? I wouldn't be so sure

thank you Herb Williams, Isiah Thomas, James Dolan.

I was a #1 koolaid slurping sob, supporter, whatever you wanna call it but the fact that the young players on this team got so little playing time in a tumultous season and then topped off by MArbury and Co playing 50+mins during meaningless games and losing the 7th seed during the last game of the season really has me on the edge!
I just want to get an opinion of what people think
