then we have the 8 and the 10 - we can draft felton and bynum, giving us a lineup of:

PG: Felton
SG: Crawford
SF: Odom
PF: Sweetney
C: Bynum

first of all, we get a lot younger.

With Ariza as our 6th man. Odom is a few years younger and we could split his minutes with Ariza so he wouldn't be overused. Now we don't have to worry about getting players to support Marbury in his prime. Bynum could develop at his own pace since everyone around him will be young too. with the 30th pick we get morris as our backup center and maybe a guy like nate robinson or daniel ewing to backup the guard position. I like thomas but this is a way of giving sweetney more playing time.

I would. I like defensive minded PGs who are pass first.

I would also, except I might leave Odom at the PF and start Reezy at the SF. I like Reezy's abilities more than Sweets. I am not sure I would start Bynum, but rather give him some time to work with Aguirre. I have no problem playing Rose and JYD as high energy players at C until Bynum is ready. I just don't see LA making that trade. If I am them, I plan to draft Felton. I would rather have Felton and Odom than Marbury and KT.

I still don't like Crawgford as the starting SG. He would ruin that starting lineup

I don't like the trade, I still think Marbury is worth building around, Isiah just needs to get a bigman that can actually play within the offense that he envisions Marbury in. Don't get me wrong I like Felton's game and if the Knicks drafted him, I wouldn't mind Marbury moving over to the 2 guard becuase I don't think Jamal Crawford is good enough to be a starter until he learns how to play within a set offense. He can't keep going out there and chucking up ridiculous shots, he has to learn to pick his spots and then and only then will I want him in the starting lineup. Until then, let him be the 6th man like first planned and he's a nice asset to the team with his energy and scoring off the bench. The backcourt of Felton and Marbury would be mighty nice.

I would do it in a heart beat. Way back when all of those Odom threads were popping up, after thinking about it, I had decided that I would support an Odom for Marbury straight up sort of trade (if it wasn't for the numbers).
Throw in Kurt for the #10 and I am jumping up and down.

Something I forgot in my post. We all know the real GM of the Lakers is and do you think he would really want to share the ball on the court with Stephon Marbury? Kobe would NEVER sign off on that trade.

Good trade, but why in the world would the Lakers do it? Take out the draft pick and maybe... but a Lakers front court of Kurt Thomas, Brian Grant and Chris Mihm? That's pretty fugly.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

That would be a wonderful trade for us, but the Lakers wouldn't do it, especially if Phil is the coach, b/c he wouldn't want Marbury part of the triangle offense.

That trade sux, Marbs and KT are better than Odom. Are you guys crazy? How do we make that trade giving up more talent AND the better pick? You guys are crazy! And Kobe doesn't wanna play with Steph, it can't work, Kobe has the ball in his hands more than most pg's in the league.

i don't see the Lakers doing it...they have no need for KT & Marbury would find it hard playing w/Kobe who dominates the ball so much...Marbury would be a good fit next to Michael Redd & Bogut in MIL, or in a situation like that.

btw to Killa, the pick was coming to NY in that deal, it wasn't a #8 for #10 swap.

Wha?! I think this would be awesome.

We'd dump Marbury's out of control contract. KT is good, but he's on the cusp of being "old".

Odom is a young superstar... does everything on the floor. But... yeah, matching contracts will Marbury would be insanely difficult.

A key to this is playing Crawford at PG, where he'd have the most value (he's merely an average SG).

Sign me up for that trade. BUT..... It doesn't work contract wise. LA would have to send more contracts back to us.

that is a garbage trade...Tell me one year that Odoms played a full season....I want Kurt out of town very bad, but not with Marburry. Marburry has done nothing but great things in this league, that is despite the fact that he has yet to have a great team around him. He played for a bunch of rookie coaches that couldn't get the best out of him and that is it. Marb is Knickebocker....Trade Crawfford instead.

I have to agree with that. The goal should be to finally support Marbury with good players by using our assets over the next two years.

shouldn't that have been the goal last year & the year before that?

Thanx, it makes the trade fairer now, but it still doesnt really make sense for LA.

Like you said it could work for MIL or Denver or Dallas, but not LA, I can't see it.

that should have, but don't dwell about the past. We need to move on with a fresh start, and a new philosophy...Draft big, because we already have enough midgets on this roster right now...We can always bring in midgets by using the FA market or through the future draft...We have to start a guy 6'10" or better as our Center, and use him all throughout the season. the part time idea is old and ineffective...

Excellent trade for us. Not really a chance that the Lakers would do that trade however, unless Phil Jackson wasn't coaching them next season (then there would be a slight chance). I'm not too sure that Felton will fall to us at 8, I think he can be gone by then. However, this is still a very nice trade for us regardless.

It should have been the goal last year but we didn't have enough assets (unlike this year and next year) to achieve the goal. I was hoping Crawford could at least help achieve that goal, but he didn't develop nearly as much as expected. But we have much better assets this summer than last offseason. Don't give up on Marbury right before the two year period when we finally have some nice assets to improve the team with (4 1st rd picks and many moderate to large expiring contracts)
