absolutely, but it's never going to happen. no chance, the 8th pick isnt worth that much right now. pick 1 or 2 would do it, but i wouldnt trade pick 1 02.

Hell yes. We're not getting a better player than Chandler with the 8th pick. It's not happening though.

No I wouldn't do it for the following reasons. 1) Against Washington the other night (Arenas last second shot game) Chandler was generally holding his own and playing decent defense. A timeout was called and when he got to the huddle he grabbed his lower back. I thought to myself, uh oh there's the back injury that's been talked about for so long with him rearing it's ugly head. Now obviously all professional atheletes play with constant injury both minor and major. However, that was a sign to me that he is still suffering from it. Stay away.

2) And I must say that for the life of me I can't comprehend why people can't get the following fact: Why in living hell would Phili, Chicago or Washington trade their young bigs at this stage to us? What do we have that they'd want that wouldn't get rid of the whole team (maybe that's what some of us want...hmm). Maybe with Kwame's recent issues (kinda like Curry at beginning of year) I guess some feel there are options now and I guess if there are any possibilities that's it.

But realistically, WHY WHY WHY?

We're the ones outside looking in last time I checked.

If he is injury prone, teams might like to trade him to us and he'd fit right in with the rest of our team.

I would keep the 8th pick...I don't trust Chandler's game...He is like Tim Thomas..just potential , nothing else.

1st he is not a center, and Chi does its best not to play him there even with Curry gone.

2nd what he brings to the table, our 8th pick could easily do as well. Rebounds, blocks and put backs? Steven Hunter can do that and we may sign him this off-season.

He isn't a polished player, he isn't skilled, so he is easy to find in the draft, especially at #8. A big long atheltic guy, there a millions of em in the draft every year.

BTW, we'd be giving up a player and the pick. Hakim Warrick, Chris Taft, and Johan Petro, may all end up being betters than him, and possibly as good as him in their rookie season's in the league.

I agree in general about being better off taking a chance own our own pick, but there is a real lack of talented legit seven footers.

Chandler, for his short comings, is talented enough to play in the league- not so sure any of the other 7fters that will be drafted will make it.

And he's had back issues- for a young guy, that is scary.

everyone has different opinion's. My opinion is I would give Chicago pick 8 for Ty Chandler. Its not even a question in my mind. But the problem is its not reality, it will never happen. The 12.5 % chance to get Bogut is real,Chicago isnt giving up Chandler, so its 0/100

Not the way I look at it. Every year there is a great player who falls to the 8th,9th, 10th spot. I have a good feeling Taft will be that guy maybe even McCants and of course Green if he slips. Warrick will be a very solid pro so you can't go wrong taking him either.

Just think how much Chandlerss max deal will be worth in trade bait as an ending contract in 2012!

In my opinion, the Knicks really don't have to trade for anymore big contracts. We have to do our best at improving from the draft. The only trade that they need to do should only be to obtain more draft picks. The theory of bringing big names and contracts to play in N.Y. should be no more the way of doing business in N.Y.

Trade: Kurt, TT, Penny, Mo T., and perhaps Sweetney to get us a young big or better yet, an excellent draft pick....

The bottom line IMO, is we need a defensive minded, shot-blocking big man to start moving in the right direction. If we can find that with either of our picks, then great. If not, then Chandler would be a great alternative. But I tend to agree with Briggs in thinking that the 8th alone won't be enough, so it is a moot point.

yeah you can draft the best player available and the guy Isiah likes and then sign a shotblocking center like Hunter or even Jerome James for the MLE or trade for Chandler without wasting the pick
