17 points 15 reb 5 blocks

he kind of fills the same role that Deke filled for us and now fills for Houston. A guy that can play 16-18 minutes--maybe more, help control the paint score, rebound and block shots and score @ 50%

At 7-1 275, Id sure rather have him then guys like malik jyd etc...

he's the equivilant of the 40 year old side arming lefty that can throw 90mph. He may be fat, have 2 pending DWIs and smacked a girl around here or there but so long as the gun says 90 he will have a job and make 7 figures.

It says something about the Cs in this league, but take it to the bank, if this guy has a couple of more of these in the playoffs, he will be PAID. I can come back to the arguement of Adonal Foyle. This guy started 80 games on a 50+ win team and was the dominant factor in game 1 of the playoffs. He was tough to deal with and he closed the paint down.

Thats why I wonder if we should bite the bullet and draft the 7-3 Lithuanian C. Maybe it will take him 2 years to fill out and develop, but I wouldnt mind having a 7-3 260 pound 21 YO who is ready to go. Thats why I don't care if the draft pick contributes.

I hate Jerome James. I wouldn't give up Slavko Vranes for him.

Maybe - but just maybe - the rights to Frederic Weiss.

he's a pretty good player... just fouls a lot... Jerome James is a good shot blocker, plays good D (when he doesn't foul), aggressive low post game, and a solid rebounder.

Think of him as a poor man's Eddy Curry (except he blocks shots once in a while)
David f'n Lee for President!!

We could definitely use Jerome James, there is really no question about that. Big money would seem foolish though. He's nothing special, and I think the better comparison is a notch above Olowakandi.

He's 7 feet tall, our only 7 footer is Bruno, we could use him, but just not at the price.

Nazr Mohammed is not 7 feet, and btw, both of those guys are better than what we have at C (KT), so I would say yes unless we can do better, which is no guarantee, there re not many real 7 footers, or good ones.

i guess what i'm trying to say is why keep treading water with a player like jerome james (whom we'll have to sign for 3-4 years) when we can much rather draft a project and play him AND jackie butler 20 mins a piece and see what we have there, you know?

I am with you on that, and that makes sense. I'd rather Steven Hunter to JJ at least he's young and atheletic.

I'm with you both, but Zeke isn't going to be interested in long term building projects. Jerome James actually fits in some ways. Check out what he did against the Detroit Bad Boys in March: http://www.nba.com/games/20050304/DETSEA/boxscore.html

I'm very clear he fits and is head and shoulders above anything we have. That being said he isn't anything special, but he is 7 feet and wide. We are probably gonna draft who we draft anyway. It would be nice to have someone like JJ if we didn't pay him like Big Z. I'd actually rather have big Z, these guys are both big, but one is skilled, big, but slow, and the other is just big and slow.

James has a very Gazy history. I don't trust his recent play.

Isiah knows the rep of these dudes.

But the Dampier thing made me nervous. Dallas going down to the Rockets, 0-2 at home! Wow.

Did you see what happened? Avery for some ungodly reason took Dampier out down the stretch. He had been dunking and going to the line right before that and Dallas had the lead. Avery puts in KVH - uh oh. We know the words KVH and 4th quarter dont go together. He immediately throws the ball away to Houston rather than take a shot when he should have, then plays nonexistent D on the McGrady game-winner.

The Knicks should go hard after Dampier. Not sure if Dallas would want to give up so soon, but it's obvious this isn't working after two straight years of first round disappointments (assuming they lose).

TT and the lotto for Damps? Saves Dallas about $60 million and gives them a lotto pick. Seems pretty par for the course for us. But I do think Dampier would fit here, at least on D. We just need him to be a garbage man on offense.
