I know some around here regarded them as garbage but they are a playoff team. The started 10 games under .500 with Kidd out. They lost their leading scorer in RJ on a team with very little depth. And yet they made good trades, managed their assets and were able to win without ruining their future.

Thorn is measure of how to run a team and how to win in this league. I know the Knicks management works and lives in a total vacuum, completely oblivious to what goes on in the real world, but nothing forces change better in life better than pain.

Maybe this hurts enough, but I doubt it.

you're talking about a team that looks like this next season:

kidd
vince
rj
nenad

with a possibility of adding swift or SAR as well as a #1 pick. they could be right back up there with detroit and miami for finals conention.

thorn is a heck of a GM.

he is a good GM. He also had a better situation. I still think it would take any GM in the world 2 or 3 years to fix the Knicks if they inherited Layden's mess.

Thorn has also made some mistakes this season. He signed Campbell for 5M exception and released him. Thats a bad move IMO. He could have waited and paid that 5M exception to Clifford Robinson instead of taking part of 10M exception. Now they are left with about 4.9M for a sign and trade in the offseason. If they had played their cards right, he could have had that 10M exception. Lets not forget the Rodney ROgers signing, giving Zo that much money knowing he had some health problems. BUT I would rather have him than Isiah Thomas.

I disagree. He didnt have the situation that the Knicks had when Isiah took over but it was pretty bad when he got there. He traded for Kidd. He traded for RJ and Collins. He drafted Nenad and Planinic. I mean his starting C when he got there was Evan Eschmeyer and his starting SG was Johnny Newman! He made the situation better. He didnt walk in to a championship team.

Thorn is great. Agreed. But I am so pissed that that friggin team turned it around and that that a-hole Carter decided to actually play basketball for them. I hope that they get hammered in the first rouind and that Dwayne Wade discovers his inner Frank WIlliams and knocks Jason Kidd on his ass.

Nets are a worthy adversary.

You don't have to like them, but at least they have earned respect.

I like the knicks, but they have yet to earn my respect.

Both teams should have interesting summers.

...Really long summer. The only game I'd see the nets winning is the first game only if shaq sits out and I'd bet he would only sit out if he thought the heat could handle the nets without him. But theres no way they would win the series.

Thorn did turn Marbury into kidd, the best point guard in the NBA, 7 losing season for Mr. Marbury in 9 isn't really impressive.....

And Thorn didn't give Elden Cambell the full exception, and he signed Zo so kidd would stay not really a bad move....They are going to get villenueva, and get a nice free agent, and will be beating the knicks asses for years, how sad

We get a couple of running athletic bigs and everything turns around. I'm serious.

well lets look at this long term, the nets could of kept Kenyon, still had RJ, miss the playoffs and have a lottery pick and draft a SG like Gerald green. Now the nets will have two very similar players in RJ and vince, lets see how that works out before we start hailing thorn as a great GM, will vince remain healthy? and will the nets have to overpay to keep scalabrine( the big scrub. The nets are in no better position than the knicks, the nets have no front line outside of kristic, they will get pummeled by miami and they will have sacraficed a lottery pick for the pleasure of getting "shaqued" by miami.... The knicks can really hit a homerun in th lottery and get a steal at #30, if that happens, I am sure a lot of you will not be thinking of the nets kicking our azzes over the next few years...

Vince Carter was League MVP from the time he came over to NJ. If he started the season with NJ he wouldve won it over Shaq IMHO. Neverthe less I have now tie him for second place with Steve Nash and Allen Iversen

thats how I see it

1 Shaq
2a AI
2B Nash
2C Carter
3 Amare Stoudemire
RIP Crushalot😞

Interesting choice. Do you think Ray Allen or Shawn Marion should be a candidate? I know Marion is not the clear MVP, however, I think he's become very underrated in that system and may very well be just as important to that team as Nash and Amare. Mainly for his defense.

I think down the stretch, Nets were all about Kidd also.

Interesting question, how much is the suns success about nash, and the nets with kid?
I'm glad the Nets won....
