If this is true that he skipped on his teamates because he is pouting over his role then Id rather see him moved ASAP.We dont need that kind of attitude on this team.I thought he had turned the corner, and had become a real team player.

From the daily news:

The 7-2 Mutombo, who has had a good year with the playoff-bound Rockets, would have helped the undersized Knicks playing 25 minutes a night. Anderson, another defense-first player, would have given the Knicks experience and energy off the bench, especially when the Knicks came into the season knowing that Allan Houston was a health risk and that Penny Hardaway is a head case.

Several Knicks are upset that Hardaway left the team twice this season because he was upset over his role. Houston and Tim Thomas are both sidelined but they are traveling with the team. Hardaway, who professes to have a sore hamstring, hasn't been heard from in two weeks.

"Ridiculous," said one teammate. "It's just not right."

I thought that the rumor was dispelled the first time. Regardless of his attitude, I just think he's become a very poor player. unfortuntaely we're stuck with his contract and we're also so light at guard that we actually may have to rely on him next year, especially since I want our draft picks to be BIGS!

Im not sure what to make of it Marv. Why isnt he traveling with the team?

For the sake of argument lets say he is out there avoiding the team because of his PT,is this someone we can rely on next season? What happens if his PT is cut again, will he pull another disappearing act?

Penny has one more year left on his contract I believe,if there was a good time to move him it would be now.

I don't know why anyteam would want him. This guy has been a self centered turd for years! As an expriring deal, he is what he is. But that won't come until before the trading deadline. who wants him for a full season.

He will get the last laugh all the way to the bank.

same reason a team would want Vin Baker or Moochie Norris. So they can laugh their way to the bank because they used us to dump some long term contract.

Penny is being a baby, it's clear...Houston gets tons of flack for not playing, yet he's always right there traveling w/the team, giving them his support & showing that he cares...where is Penny? the guy's making $15 million & he can't get up off his arse to be there for his teammates even wearing streetclothes? ridiculous, just like the quote says.

For all I care, let him rot on the IL while he's in Memphis, or where ever he happens to be right now. Give his minutes to Trevor and I couldn't care less what Penny does.

for all the talk of the value of expiring deals- I wouldn't be surprised if penny was bought out to create a roster spot- the logic being you've got TT's contract and even this organization can't maintain $100m payroll indefinitely.

Maybe thats what Penny is hoping for.He saw how Shannon Anderson got bought out by blowing off Isiah at last season's year end interview and allegedly in a hallway and is hoping to get a buyout offer.Wouldnt surprise me at this point.

Shaq was right on his analogy. Penny is Fredo.

Any chance at a Penny Hardaway to Memphis for Stromile Swift and Brian Cardinal trade this summer?

Possibly, just make sure Jerry West puts down a couple six packs before Zeke calls.

I think the only realistic trade I've seen for Penny is Jalen Rose, at least over the summer.

The Knicks might be able to get more from someone really desperate at the trade deadline next Feb.

Im no fan of Rose's,thats for sure but if all this stuff about Penny ends up being true,I wouldnt be as POd about it as I would have been 24hrs ago.

His contract runs a year longer than Penny's so Isiah would have to ask himself if he wants to trade Hardaway for another possible headache for an extra year.Like Fishmike said,it might be better to just let him walk.

I'd rather let him walk, but since we all know Isiah traded for Mo Taylor for the "value of his expiring contract two years from now," I'm guessing he'll be looking for a trade for Penny. The Knicks could certainly do worse than Rose. It'd be nice to get a pick if we took back an extra $17million!!! Sigh. I'm bracing for the worst on these Penny and TT trades.

Me too.God help the Knicks if he makes another panic trade or two.

If he has some grand scheme to totally revamp the Knicks in 2 years then Ill support him,but if he keeps adding more deadweight then I want him put him on a plane to Utah where he can play "who made the worst trade" with Layden.

Let Penny and TT walk.

The only players I am looking to a "MUST" trade are...KT, Sweetney.
I am open to moving Jamal if we net a need player.

KT - Glut at PF position and has the highest value right now that can net us a mid to late first round pick. I think the 3 Texas teams are the best trade partners right now.
1. Houston scenario - KT for Spoon/2 1st rounders(2005 and future)
2. Dallas scenario - KT/Taylor for KVH and future 1st rounder.
3. SA scenario - KT for Nesterovic

Sweetney - Glut at PF position. Sweetney has the best chance of landing a good player in return. Maybe we can get a center or another first rounder. Minny is in disaray and might be looking to add some new talent to surround KG. A Sweetney/Jamal/JYD package for Wally/Kandi and their 1st rounder would be a win-win for both sides.

Sweets a must trade? I realize we have a lot of PFs, but you also have to figure that Rose/JYD can play the 3, and Rose is probably the best player we have at defending the 5. Mike is certainly tradeable, but unless you're clearly getting better, hold on to him. Don't make a move just so you can have one less PF to deal with.
The Mo deal does make it a little more complicated. I would be all for sticking him on the IL, after all, the whole reason in getting him was for his contract, right?

I placed Sweetney on my MUST trade list because you give something to get something. Also, he just doesn't seem to be the right piece to play with Marbury. The package I mentioned with Minny would be something I would like to do. I think Minny would actually do this since they will be needing a front line player to go with KG and a starting SG to replace Spree.
