one way or another crawford=bench--i think we can all agree with that.

what if we draft a Ray Felton for PG and move Marbury to SG? That gives you multiple assets on the SL we dont have. hes a mean powerful athletic defender. He can really push and get to the hole and rebound from that position. hes not that great of a shooter, but hes been getting much better. Marbury is strong enough to cover 2s and wed really improve th head of our D quite a bit and we can bring Craw off the bench?

Its just another possible venue, if we cant get Green, Bogut etc.....

not a bad idea if bogut, green and taft are gone. It would depend on who impresses Isiah more: mcCants, paul or felton

unless Ray Felton is a 6'5" or taller G who can defend on the perimeter & distribute, i'd rather pursue a trade to try & get a Corey Maggette from the Clippers (maybe Crawford & the lottery pick protected to #5?)

i don't like the idea of having 2 small G's on the perimeter...they'd be mismatched every night.

I don't want to draft a point guard unless Marbury is gonna be traded. I'm not ready to draft a point until then. If Marbury is traded then the Knicks gotta clean house and get more young guys.....

What does small have to do with it? Lately smallish type players have been some of the best NBA players. Wade, Boykins, Andre Miller. I can think of a few more. You can't argue with Pauls sheer skills and athleticism, I'd gladly take him and move Marbs to SG if he were available.

the 1 position we DON'T need to address this offseason is PG, & you want to use the lottery pick to draft a PG? BRIGGS, you feeling OK?

I agree it would work great offensively but we need perimeter defense in the worst way. Thats what Briggs is saying. There are good defensive pgs like bobby jackson, chris childs etc. but Paul is 5'11 with a 6'2 shooting you're going to be in big trouble defensively. extremely over matched in the backcourt. Felton seems to be a better defender. I rather not draft any of them really. I think we'll have a very good shot at bogut, green, marvin and taft or even Martynas(if he realllly impresses the knicks in draft camp) or a shooter like McCants would also be great for this team.

Oh I understand that but if Paul is the best player available then you have to draft him, as we've all said before, you can't pass up a great player just to address a need. If that means trades must follow then thats what happens. No doubt I'd still like Taft, Bogut, Marvin and McCants but if Paul is the best player on the board, you gotta take him.

Wade is 6'4" jumps out of the gym and is an exceptional player overall.
Andre Miller is 6'2" and is by no means a small PG.
Boykins is good, I'd like to have him to backup/play with Steph.

Briggs, what are your thoughts on Deron Williams? Great defender, decent size. Plays with fire. He could look good next to Marbs in the starting lineup.

I'd take Deron in a second over McCan'ts and even Green. Deron fits a huge need: perimeter D and competitive fire. I'd take Taft and Bogut over him, sure, but not too many others. Deron is going to go in the top 5, so we probably dont have a real shot at him anyway.

I don't want Marbury playing SG for any extended period of time. We saw how that worked poorly with Iverson the last few years and I think it would work poorly with Marbury too. He doesn't move great away from the ball. Marbury's a gifted PG who plays great with the ball in his hands, not away from the ball. Why not work within Marbury's natural strengths?

it worked fine for Iverson when Snow was the PG and he was the SG. Last I remember they went to the finals!

but I agree I dont want an undersized SG when we have no perimeter defenders on the team. But if I had to chose between paul, felton, deron i would chose the better player. PGs with Derons build just aren't successful starting nba players. Give me McCants who is close to 6'4 and a much better shooter & explosive anyday over these guys at SG! We won't have to worry about that though because we'll be in the running for the best players in the draft like bogut, green, marvina and taft!

Excuse me??? The kid is 6'3" 210lbs! He's built a lot like Jason Kidd and idolizes him and tries to play teamfirst like him. Other 6'3" PGs in the league right now include Arenas and Francis.

I have to say I am completely confused by your comment. Deron is pretty much THE prototypical defensive PG and he's played better than any could of thought in the tournament.

The NBA lists Francis at 6'3" 200lbs. Marbury is 6'2" 200lbs. This kid, Deron, is a legit 6'3" 210lbs. Jason Kidd is listed at 6'4" 210 lbs. I really don't understand, but whatever. It doesn't matter what you or I think. NBA GMs think his build is great and someone will pick him in the top 5.
