I don't think he was ever a fan of Nazr, he just made it up to sugarcoat the KVH-TT swap. He was prolly high on TT and understood that the trade looked bad at that time. Remember IT does not really give away his plans, he seems to just make stuff up on the spot.

The KVH trade looks bad in retrospect, but at the time, I could see how you would think that he could be better then Keith. We arleady knew KVH was not gonna ever give you all you wanted, so why not try it with another headacse. It did not work out. The only thing I regreat about that deal is the 2nd round pick.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I agree Sim. just like how now he's blaming this season on Allan Houston when he knew damn well he was done which is why he went and got crawford except now he sees that Crawford is a bench player.

I don't mind Isiah's double-talking. I've been pretty successful at seeing through it. I liked the idea at the time since I had been following Nazr's stats in Atlanta and he put up good numbers in limited minutes until he became a Knick and I saw that stats aren't eveything.

I suspect Nazr is still nursing the groin injury.

I say wait until the playoffs and see what he can contribute.

Funny- Nazr could become a championship center this year!

Nazr was the key. KVH, Doleac and Tiny Tim all suck. You couldn't give any of the 3 of them away now. Nazr is the only one who could have (and did) fetch 2 #1's.

yeah luckily we were able to fool the Spurs just like Atlant fooled us. The Spurs must've looked at Nazr's numbers and though WOW a 6'10 gy averaging 10 & 8 will make a great backup center on our championship team. That is until he got there and they started playing Sean Marks and Horry over him! lol

the spurs were clearing cap space to re-sign manu ginobilli. i think they would have traded malik and those picks to any team for any player that resembled a back-up center

yeah he was playing like crap! He only had a good first month and a half of the season. Then he went on a monumental decline from there way before the groin injury which only happened recently.

I agree. None of the four players are much, but Nazy at least has the stats. The others don't even have that! If Van Horn could ever get healthy, he could (at least for the first 3 quarters of regular season games). If TT could ever give full effort, he could too. Doleac just doesn't have the skills.

Jeez...why do we keep dwelling on this "key to the deal" nonsense. It's just a figure of speech or a way of selling a player. Obviously Isiah wouldn't do KVH for TT even up because that's not a fair trade. Getting Nazr put it over the top so to speak, so that's why he's a "key to the deal." He didn't say he thought Nazr was the best player in the deal, or the best player we were getting in the deal or anything like that. But he obviously wouldn't have made the trade if he wasn't gonna get Nazr.
