I doubt IT brings KVH back & I'd rather go another direction.

I figure Tim might have a good year next season, finally put a stretch of good play together- its a contract year for him & I don't see anything but an MLE offer for him at the end of his current contract

I never thought I would say this but I wouldn't do that trade. If we wanted to get rid of the contracts, maybe (I thought KVH was a at the end of this season)..I would rather keep TT than KVH.....Van Horn has seemed to develop an injury problem I don't like.

TT for Van Horn i would definitely do, especially if we're going to commit to using Sweetney as our low post scoring option rather than TT next season...if they're going to trade Sweetney in a deal, than i might rather hold onto TT as he's our only real low post scoring option at this point, as sad as that sounds.

bringing back kvh may not be a good idea. some may view that as sour grapes.so for off season starters we need a trade to stop trading (at least for awhile) this trade fills the needed spots while letting us concentrate on say draft picks:

New York trades: SF Tim Thomas (12.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28.0 minutes)
PF Mike Sweetney (8.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 18.9 minutes)
New York receives: SG Jerry Stackhouse (15.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.2 apg in 30.8 minutes)
C Shawn Bradley (2.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 0.2 apg in 11.0 minutes)
SF Rasual Butler (6.1 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.0 apg in 18.3 minutes)
C Wang Zhizhi (2.2 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.1 apg in 4.2 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +6.1 ppg, +0.2 rpg, and +1.5 apg.

Dallas trades: SG Jerry Stackhouse (15.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.2 apg in 30.8 minutes)
C Shawn Bradley (2.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 0.2 apg in 11.0 minutes)
PG Darrell Armstrong (4.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.0 apg in 16.3 minutes)
Dallas receives: PF Mike Sweetney (8.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 18.9 minutes)
SG Eddie Jones (12.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -1.4 ppg, +2.2 rpg, and -2.2 apg.

Miami trades: SG Eddie Jones (12.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.9 minutes)
SF Rasual Butler (6.1 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.0 apg in 18.3 minutes)
C Wang Zhizhi (2.2 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.1 apg in 4.2 minutes)
Miami receives: SF Tim Thomas (12.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28.0 minutes)
PG Darrell Armstrong (4.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.0 apg in 16.3 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -4.7 ppg, -2.4 rpg, and +0.7 apg.

Sure, I would do that. Tim's "playing better" lately on offense, maybe, but his defense has been horrendous. Between TT's terrible defense and Crawford's even worse defense, they both lost us that game last night, IMHO.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

What does is matter really?

Both of them will never satisfy us, so I really don't see a difference. KVH or TT, its all same crap to me.

KVH at least sticks with his man. Tim Thomas is lazy on defense. You don't have to be a defensive star but is it too much to ask to not let the guy you're defending get wide open shots? The reason why Tim Thomas is annoying isn't because he's not talented enough or not athletic enough or any of those reasons. It's because he's lazy. If we were going purely on athleticism, Tim Thomas would be great, but through all his time in the NBA he's never surpassed being "decent" on any level, decent scorer, mediocre rebounder, mediocre defender... but, "he's athletic". I'd rather have Keith Van Horn who does more with his talent and hard work, even if he's not quite the athletic specimin that Tim Thomas is.

I'd like to trade TT, but not for KVH. We need to get younger. Unless the talent upgrade is string, every trade the Knicks make should make the team younger.

i disagree...i feel every trade the Knicks make should make the team better...getting younger players while accomplishing that main goal is desirable, but Isiah shouldn't close himself off to considering trades that get the Knicks a better player if the age difference is minimal at best.

the difference in talent is marginal, but the general effort put forth by VH over TT is noticeable on a more consistent basis...in that regard i agree wholeheartedly w/Solace's comments above...TT is & always will be a disappointment for any fan of the team he plays on...everyone always hopes & prays for that 16 & 5 player he was last year, but the truth is he's always been a 13 & 4 type player just about every year he's averaged over 26 mpg in his career...it doesn't take rocket science to figure out that a player who's put up 17 & 7 just about every year before this year when he's been riddled with injury problems would be be an improvement...even with his more limited minutes he's putting up comparable stats to TT...that right there should tell you all you need to know.

a trade of VH for TT wouldn't improve this team by leaps & bounds certainly, but it would be an improvement nonetheless imho, because of the simple fact that VH tries to play up to his abilities & TT rarely does.

I agree; unless you're getting a veteran who's clearly better than TT, I'd rather use TT's expiring contract on a young player with upside. We'd be getting Van Horn just to trade his expiring contract anyway (at least I would do that); so I'd rather skip the step of getting Van Horn and just trade TT's expiring contract.

They're both equally bad on defense. Solace is right that TT's struggles relate more to effort than Van Horn's do, but the end result is that they both give up a ton of points.

right, only difference is VH scores & rebounds more than TT does when healthy.

in the regular season. Then the reverse is the case in the playoffs where TT has better #s mostly as a reserve than Van Horn does as a starter
