I don't think ANYONE has been upset with trading for Malik. It's the Mo trade that is very questionable, and by no means can we thank Mo for single handledly leading us to those wins. I'm willing to be patient with that trade, but one can only take so much. Can we put this discussion behind us and move on?

Where are all the Mailk Rose/Mo Taylor doubting Tim Thomasinas?

Malik and Mo are better than Nazy, Vin, and Moochie combined. Malik's been a perfect fit. TT's finally back to his normal 16/5. It would be nice to see the Knicks get the 8th seed after everyone counted them out.

Can't we have at least one thread to neutralize the dozens of threads by Fish, Simrud et al. about how much of a disaster Isiah's decisions were? Just one thread?

They have to win on the road. almost all these wins have been at home. What have they won on the road since the trade deadline? One game? They HAVE to win on the road or none of this matters.

I'll man up when we win a championship with Rose and Taylor. Until then, nada.
By the way, the reason we're playing better is Tim Thomas, plain and simple. Also, Nazr is better than Rose - people forget that he was double-double before the hand injury. Even more importantly, why do we care if we're playing better now - we need every ping-pong ball in the lottery.

According to 82games.com, we're plus 7 points when Taylor is on the floor and plus 6 points when Rose is on the floor. Other than Marbury and Houston, the Knicks don't have too many guys who are in the "plus" category.

+/- stats are good for only one measurement - whether the player is better than who he was substituted for. Taylor is better than Sweetney right now. So his plus-minus will better than Sweetney's. The fact that it is positive only reflects the fact that the team as a whole has been performing better. For comparison, what is the +/- for when they are off the floor?

What hand injury did Nazy get? He was double double, but he was giving up double doubles too. Rose is a much smarter player.

Nazr got that groin injury. He already was sliding the few games before it, but I'm sure it affected his game somewhat. Either way, still thrilled with that Rose deal.

I still can't stand the Mo Taylor trade since we didn't get a draft pick out of Houston and we even gave up a pick.
And though I love the new attitude, hustle, toughness, chemistry, and the success which I pray translates into next season. Makeing the playoffs would be bad for this team. We can't beat Miami in the playoffs especaily when they will have 4 games at home. If we were fighting to win our division where we could get the 3rd-4th seed that would be fine. But I would rather get in the lottery with a 6-9pick than make the 8th seed and lose in the first rd.

Now would be the point in the conversation where you would generally mention Malik is a much better defender (even against Cs), and we got 2 first rounders for him.

The Rose trade was a B- effort as a whole. Not terrible. But player for player, Nazr > Rose.

whats the difference between finishing with the 3rd seed and losing in the 2nd round then building chemistry and losing in the 1st round to the heat but competing and feeling good about next year?

Im kinda confused in where you are coming from with this. But you are right. It would be better to miss the playoffs all together this season than even making the 3rd seed or 4th seed with no shot at a championship only because we wouldn't be 3rd seed because we had the 3rd best record but because we won the division. Id rather get the high lottery pick to have next to Marbury. We could still end up with chemistry and feeling good about ourselves. We would probably feel better about ourselves if we finish strong but miss the playoffs. Than getting killed by the Heat.

if you are a fan of tim thomas, then this is the thread for you.
if you are happy with a player that shows up 4 months into the season, then this is the thread for you.
but if you are not happy about a guy that over his entire career is known as a "now you see him now you don't" player, then this is not the thread for you.
if you are not happy about a team that plays crappy for 2 months yet are only 8-4 and still 3.5 games out of the playoffs, then this is not the thread for you.
this is NOT the thread for me.
just b/c they're 8-4 doesn't take away from the fact that they were 3-18. now, you make this post when they're 16-4 since the deadline, then i'll "man up!"

no im for making the playoffs at this point since we have no shot at one of the top 3-4 players in the draft.
I'm just questioning why people are so worried about us being swept by the heat because we will be the 8th seed. If we were the 3rd seed we would get swept in the 2nd round by a good team so whats the difference?
Bottomline is we make the playoffs for the 2nd straight year and hopefully they play hard so that we can feel good about them going into next year. Last year we were embarrassed by the Nets of all teams who weren't even that good.
Then we can trust Isiah to pick a good player at #15 and there will be plenty of them and Isiah has shown an eye for talent. A lot of GMs dont unless a clear cut star like bogut, marvin, paul are on the board.

One step at a time. Isiah's not gonna turn the .350 team he inherited into a 16-4 team in just one full season. Patience...
