Looking at all the stats, it appears to me that Sweet and TT are our best shooters so far...I know that TT took half of the season off, but since Herb took over, he perhaps has the best percentage out of all of our players....He is much more efficient than anyone else so far...

What do you all think??

best shooter is TT. which isnt saying much

sweetney leads all 2nd year players in FG% but he's not a shooter. he scores most of his pts in the paint

I'm actually going to say Kurt is our best shooter, which annoys me so.

From 15 ft away, he is the most consistant shooter we have. You took Sweets as one of your choices, but Kurt is questionable?

What I desperately want is a swing man who can spot up and consistantly hit the open J. TT has looked good lately, but I just can't commit myself and assume that earlier this season was a fluke and THIS is the real TT.

He's good from anywhere on the floor within 18 feet. This is actually a pretty good shooting team. If you're talking three point shooters, then no, we don't have a lot and Tim Thomas is the best. But almost half of our offense is running pick and rolls which result in open jumpers. The key to the team is Marbury who gets his teammates so many wide open/high percentage shots it's sick. This is why I get sick when I hear people say he's not a good point guard or team player. That's so unfair.

But, as for pure shooter: Allan Houston. hahahahahahahaha. Just kidding, I'd say Tim Thomas which is why he's so frustrating. His jumper is actually better than KVH's. I wish he could play a whole season like he has for the past month.

but when you say that, you make it sound like this isn't a good shooting team. I have to say we are a pretty good shooting team and that we actually take too FEW three pointers. Tim and Marbury should shoot more, they are good shots.

Kurt/Marbury are one of the best pick and roll combos in the league, mainly because Kurt's 15-18ft jumper is so automatic. Marbury is a very underrated shooter. I know he gets a lot of layups, but he's shooting 46% this year while shooting a lot of jumpers. Look at other guys who play the way Marbs does. Iverson could never shoot 46%.

Mo Taylor has a pretty sweet J for a big.

Ariza, Rose, Sweets and JYD are inconsistant shooters (though Ariza is improving), but they aren't offensive focal points, they're garbage men.

The one regular you can argue is Jamal who is streaky as all hell. But that's why Herb has reeled him in more and it's improved the team. Jamal is a great playmaker and streaky shooter, so it makes sense to use his playmaking more.

Knicks are 13th out of 30 in the league in shooting. Not great, but not bad. I'd like to see where they rank since Herb took over and reeled Jamal in and got Tim to wake up.

Our best shooter is TT. Sweetney shoots a good percentage because he is closer to the hoop. If we are going to look at stats then Butler might be shooting 100%.

i agree with you...KT is our most consistent "shooter" now that Houston is not playing...TT makes his best percentage when he takes the ball to the hole, & playing in the post...Sweetney's outside shot is nothing to write home about either, he gets alot of his baskets in the paint off Marbury's penetration & on offensive putbacks.

Craw shoots 36.6% from 3 which is pretty solid. He's no Tim Thomas (42.6%), but he's our second best 3pt shooter and can go on ridiculous hot streaks.

Craw shot 31% from 3 last year, so he's at least using better judgement this year. I think his percentage will continue to go up as he learns to be patient and take smart shots.

It's actually pretty close - and our guys aren't that bad. I sorted yahoo's stats by 3 pt shooting, but you can re-sort it any way you want. TT does look the best, but not by much.

If Crawford is set, I think he's a better shooter than TT. Most of his misses and bad shots are ones that come off the dribble/off balance that he shouldn't take anyway.

maybe but not by much. Crawford airballs or bricks his fair share of wide open 3's.

bottomline is no one is a good shooter on this team but all in all shooting is not the problem because they shoot well as a team. Now thelack of a Center and perimeter defense is a major problem

GunsNEwing, I disagree. I think Kurt is a very good shooter, and he's not just a good shooter on one spot of the court. He hits elbows, baselines and top of the keys, and ones in occasion, he'll take a dribble, headfake, yada, and then hit a shot. He is by far, our best spot up shooter. I think our overall best shooter, besides the injured Houston, is TT. Lately, he's been creating his own mid range J and has been spotting up and hitting the 3s nicely.

I think our most underrated shooter is Marbury. He hits a lot more mid range shots than people give him credit for and is fine at 3 pt land. But I have to say that the one guy that spreads the D the most, hits the most Js at the highest % is Kurt Thomas. He is our best shooter, and he can do it with hands in his face, even though he's a smart shooter.

good shooters shoot with defenders in their face something Kurt Thomas can't do during 4th quarters when defenses get serious. There's a reason why the Knicks have been trying to trade Kurt for years but no one wants him unless they are sending us their garbage which is why the Knicks haven't traded him. A good team looking for a solid bench player might give us a mid to late 1st round pick for Kurt which is whatI'm praying for come draft day. I don't want to have another 36 collapses next year with Kurt's inability to get off a shot in the 4th quarter. I'm sick of last second losses where Kurt bricks a shot because the defender was in his face and he's too unathletic to shoot over him or get by him.

There aren't many people who can shoot over the harshest defenses in the world. Being a good shooter has nothing to do with falling to the pressure. This year, Kurt has hit many big buckets. Him being too unathletic to shoot over people has nothing to do with him being a bad shooter. Please. He's a very good shooter, and I read somewhere that Shaq said he's the best shooting PF in the NBA. This is almost as silly as Silverfeul saying that Houston wasn't one of the best shooters in the NBA.

KT gets his buckets despite the fact that defenses have started to focus on him. Him not being able to hit last second shots has nothing to do with him being a good or bad shooter. You might as well say Crawford is a great shooter b/c he did hit those 2 game winning shots this year.
