you know, I saw this clip a while ago and the first thing you think is 'woah, another amare!!' but I don't know. he's doesn't really look like that kind of aggressive C. I mean, I saw KVH throw it down like that at msg last year, and I don't think anyone would categorize van horn as a monster in the paint.

my point is, that while this particular move may look nice, but you can't judge someone based on one clip of him.

put it this way: he's tall, french and a center. as a knick fan, that already makes me nervous. just keep him away from vince carter!

um, anyone who is that big and can move like that deserves a close look come draft time. But this kid is a total project. It may take him as long as its taken Dalembert. Taking this guy in the lotto would be a total rebuilding move. We'll see. I certainly wouldn't mnid getting a huge athlete.

Yeah for a big man to go out that far to get a pass put it on the floor with that much speed to finish with a dunk......it's impressive.

Project is the key word. We kinda knew he could do that. What else can he do?

Checking out his site, there are alot of decent pictures of him. All of the pics are him in the air already. I guess that's how they are advertising him.

I would like to see him in action with some conventional moves to the basket. Also I wanna see some more drives.

Like I said before there is always a flood of media and other info on draft choices around this time. We'll definately get more right up to the day of the draft.

Johan Petro is definately a guy that will get attention.

HOLY SHt that was impressive. If that guy really is 7 ft, to take the ball from halfcourt and ribble drive in two steps and elevate to dunk, not many people can do that. Id like to see more of his game. I cant believe if this is the guy that he isnt averaging more points and rebounds, he was two feet over the rim

this is just a video clip and i hate going by that, but that was an impressive one. how many C can do that in the nBA?

anyone have more footage on him? Im definitely interested in him now, but i do want to see more.

Wow, that was as impressive as it gets for a one highlight clip. That is seriously some explosive athleticism. Monster footspeed and elevation. It is what it is, but that was a great freaking clip....

Check out the backboard. It lit up. It was a buzzer beating dunk from the bottom of the key. He definitely looks like Amare in that clip.

he definitely won't last where we are picking, we've won too many games and aren't making the playoffs, what a disaster.

More like KG....I want to see him do something else. Am I the only person not impressed? I mean it was a big play....but what else can he do? From what I already knew about him I knew he could do that.

Every mock draft has Petro lower than our first pick (8-10) range. He will be available unless he blows people away with his workouts. The NYK should definitely draft him. The question is should IT trade down and take him? TT, Ariza, lotto pick for Artest, Bender, and Indy pick? I'm so pumped for the draft it's not even funny.

It's not that bad. Petro will be in our range unless he absolutely DOMINATES in workouts. Since he's a project: he won't. I'm not saying we should take him, but it's tempting, especially if we can buy another pick and get an Eric Williams (who IS NBA ready right now).

Don't forget this is a strong draft for PGs. Though the word now is Chris Paul will stay in school.

That move makes him look very skilled. He handled the ball like he was a guard.

he looks a hell of alot more polished than Dalembert did when he was drafted....he looks to have at least a semblance of an offensive game...

Petro would be great if we can get in that 10-15 range......or if our first pick is there, I would pick hijm a coupkle of spots higher because he definately fits a need...I seriously don't think he is a top 10 player, unless as stated before, he nukes the comp at the camps.

according to the scouting reports Petro is more of a stiff but good shotblocker. I think Splitter has more allstar potential and he's rated much higher in every mock draft. But I would love to pick up a 14/15th pick and draft petro.

Green
Petro
Garcia/Nate/ewing

would be an awesome draft!

definately!

I'm all for Isiah trading next years pick to get another one this year......sheeeeeet, he could move up if he thinks a player can play right away.

100 days and counting......The draft can't come any sooner.

the knicks should do what other teams did in hiding players by promising the pick to the player in return for not working out for anyone. of course many teams will have done their DD, but could be put off by not getting a private workout.
If petro is idientified by the Knicks as the player they really want, go to his agent--lock him the pick and of course tell him the endorsement perks in NY:>)

anyhow, can anyone dig more information on this guy? any more video, evaluations etc....

i have to say wow again. think how many 7 footers have the ballhandling and agility to actually take the ball inbounds from halfcourt and dribble drive and jam. That was f impressive. i think I have watched that clip 10 times now and this kid has TREMENDOUS TREMENDOUS potential. I cant speak for character, other basketball fundamentals, but from that clip the only player in this draft with that talent is Marvin Williams.

He'll be a top ten pick IMO. NY shouldn't pass on him, if ONLY for his defense.

I still have to see what he does during rookie camp against splitter, & vazquez

Petro's scouting reports aren't as good as the one on those other guys. Those other guys are all better offensively. Petro is Nazr offensively. I'm going to have to see more of him not just one clip of him dunking the ball which the reports say is all he can do offensively other than a Nazr like baby hook. He can block shots but he can be a diop/jerome james in the makings offensively which is not good. Splittler and company have a lot more upside which is why they are compared to guys like pau, dirk, kirilenko & Illgaukus.

I would not mind taking Petro at all if we make the playoffs and get the 14th or 15th pick and then drafting a SG with the 29th pick.

all i know is if this kid is actually 7 feet tall, i have seen few with the agility to be able to take the ball from halfcourt and make it to the basket and finish. I dont know what he is offensively, i would need to see more, but even to have the ability to do what he did on that one play bodes well. yes its a dunk and id like to see his shooting form but that cat has tremendous physical assets and agility. and im the first person to criticize a player, beleive me. I think at this point, from what I have seen, what I feel I know about this draft, IF this kid is actually 7-0 250, id have 0 problem guaranteeing him the draft pick, IF he worked out for only us.
