Is Jamal Crawford & Kurt Thomas for Jamaal Magloire a fair trade for both sides in the offseason? Give me your thoughts for or against.

C - Magloire / rookie draft pick
PF - Sweetney / Mo T / Rose
SF - TT / Ariza / JYD
SG - Houston / MLE or LLE free agent
PG - Marbury / Penny

you knew that wasn't a fair trade when you created the thread

I'd say Crawford is a better player than Magloire at their respected positions, but I realize you have to give up a little more when trading small for big.
After the trade I don't think we're any better off. Especially while Houston is injured, we can't afford to trade Crawford without bringing in another 2 guard. I suppose we could move Ariza to the 2 spot, but if we're trading Jamal, I think we could do better.

i did

i think you have to give up alot to get a top C in this game...we have a plethora of PF's & Crawford is replaceable...getting a young allstar calibre C isn't easy...if anything i was kinda thinking the Hornets would be the ones who wouldn't make the deal, but i wanted your opinions on it.

I have no interest in Magloire. I feel like he's a slightly better version of Mohammed. His post game isn't that great and his defense isn't to great either. Would never do that deal...

Maglorie is not even that good! you've got to be kidding. I'd prolly take KT over Magloire anyway let alone trading Crawford...come on man, this one is a no brainer!!

TMS, trust me Magloire is nothing special. Read VDesai's post

Magliore is not that good.....not worth trading Craw and KT.....New Orleans already have JR Smith and PJ Brown so what is the point?

Maglore is just a guy who can rebound and score on garbage points, he has no post game, is not a shotblocker, and his defense is average at best.

That would be a terrible trade.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

That's the comparison I'd make too. He's a younger, slightly better version of Nazy. I wouldn't mind having him, but I wouldn't give up a lot for him.

I could see the Hornets trading him for the right combination of young players- perhaps something like a KT & Ariza & pick.

Magloire and Nazr are the same type of players. He just has a better jumper than Nazr....Forget about Magloire, draft a young player and coach him. If it aint: KG, Duncan, Shaq, Nowitsky, you can forget about doing a trade for a big man, especially now that we have draft picks available....

ok guys...how about Brad Miller? would you give up KT & Crawford for him if the opportunity presented itself?

so if the answer is yes, then what was that last post you just made all about?:

are you saying those guys are more realistic options or something? this is a hypothetical discussion...oh wait, i forgot, you commanded us not to discuss these fantasy trades right? sorry Holy One...forgive my transgression.

Magloire only makes about $6mm so the money doesnt work there. He's 27 and I am much higher on him than most around here. He's gotten better every year he's been in the league. He started a little late (I think we has 22 as a rookie), but I would love to add him.

KT works money wise but has a longer deal and NO would need more.

I think a realistic deal is KT + our lottery pick (assuming its not a top 3, I'm figuring its 8-12) + next years 2nd #1 (Spurs pick) for Magloire and NO's #2.

I would do this... you still have the Spurs pick and the NO pick (will be 31 or 32) and those are decent if you looking for a backup PG or combo guard.

I think this is reasonable for a 27 year old center thats gotten better every year he's been in the league. He plays hard on both sides and his size impacts the game. He's long, he changes shots. You put him next to Sweetney and you have a terrific starting frountcourt with tremdous size. Magloire is also a superior athlete and can run the floor and is skilled, he's not Nazr.

then you have never seen Magloire play more than once or twice. The guy's a heck of a player and before he broke his finger was really poised to break out.

maybe.. but wing players are easier to get than bigs, and Magloire isnt much of a gamble. He's MUCH better and tougher than Dampier and making half the money. I would move KT and a late lottery pick for a 27 year old center like that in a NY minute. You could still use the Pho #1 and the NO #2 you get back to add a couple prospects at the 1 and 3. Then you have addressed every offseason need to some degree or another.
