- the young core is marbury, crawford, ariza, sweetney and that's the team he's building around.

- he's likes rose and wants him. thinks he can defend the 3/4 and thinks he can defend the 2 as well. and thinks he can score on some 3's and 2's. (didnt' mention him as a 5)

- talks about getting the picks and accumulating assets is this team's #1 priority. so with the late picks, they can use them in a trade or keep the player they like at that pick.

- moving nazr helped tim b/c he can now play the 4. he thinks tim is "stuck" at the 3 and now he can play the 4 where he has his advantages.

- he likes malik rose better than nazr. his mode of thinking is that if they re-signed nazr $7 or $8 mil a year, then malik makes less so it's a good deal.

- in response to "is this mix and match or is there a set gameplan" is that we are a work in progress. isiah moved 7 bad untradeable contracts to have assets. he thinks we need a center, until then they have to play PF's at C. he needs a quality backup combo guard.

- he has to plan as if h20 won't be there. he has to move on if h20 is not going to play.

- he equates ward + eisley in that deal to penny.

- he won't say what the assets are.

- he's dissapointed with the record. he thinks if they didn't loses crawford and tim, they would have a better record. he's not disappointed in the effort of the team. he thinks all those close losses will turnaround.

- he has a close relationship with alot of players but it's closest to marbury. he thinks it's good since they both played the same position and he's trying to get better. he has no problem with the fight b/c he thinks it's a good thing. since then, marbury and kurt have possibly been the best pick and roll in the league.

- he doesn't know where rose's minutes come from. he doesn't think anybody is owed minutes since he's "old school". he wants sweets to have fire under him so he earns everything he gets. he wants competition on the roster.

- he knew this was going to be a hard job. he thinks fixing this is the hardest job in the world. he's energized by the challenge. he knows he's been slapped around by the media the past few days and he's ok with it. he sees the team in practice and he knows what he's doing is right.

- he likes herb. he likes what herb is doing. he'll evaluate the coach at the end of the season.

- you can't play in new york with trying to get under the cap. he thinks that since when you start with a $100 mil payroll then you have to operate in different ways.

it ended abruptly b/c of technical difficulties.

amazing recap i made sure I taped it. You seem like you got all the main points. I am glad zeke did not name assets because that would have caused drama.

Good stuff... EXACTLY what you want to hear. I'm not sure those 4 guys are that great a 'core' but I like the idea of the core being young

I love the core! And aren't we assuming that that means everyone else is an "asset?"

what you can really take away from isiah is that he gives about TWO SH!TS about the salary cap and the $$$'s don't mean ****. he's going to make a big $$$ deal with tim and/or penny and probably use some of those picks he got. he kind of dismissed those late picks when questioned about their positions. he was like yeah, but you can use them in deals, and oh by the way, if there's a player there then good.

he likes young players and that's really our only saving grace. he will get younger players here instead of the spoons, othella's, etc. but his regard to the cap is the same as layden's (which probably comes from dolan).

Wow, great recap dj. Completely forgot about it at 4 and came back home too late for it. Feel like I didn't miss a thing...except for Mike and the Mad Dog pretending their analysts and mention how much we suck. Come to think of it, reading it off here was probably better.

Thanks dj, great skills....

I love the part about Houston, if anyone is still waiting for this guy to walk on water forget about it. Put about 200 pounds on him, a cheeseburger in hand you would swear it is Mo Vaughn in a tight suit. Dolan should sue him to retire.

Did you get the feeling that Mad Dog was trying to bait Isiah into saying something outlandish? Isiah did a good job in controlling himself.

I dont think its right how every other guest that goes on gets their repect but they try to make Isiah look like a fool in front of his face. You can say that Herm Edwards is a full but when they interview him they ae much more respectful with their criticism.

I wish Isiah had brought up the fact that talking about the cap now its pointless because they won't be anywhere near the cap til after Houston is gone in 2007.

mad dog doesn't like him so he gives him sh!t everytime he's on, and especially now b/c they're losing. he has every right to b/c there are alot of people that agree with what the gist of chris is trying to say:

1. keep adding payroll, keep losing
2. marbury is not the savior or a top flight player
3. what are the assets?

those that agree with isiah drink kool aid and those that agree with the points above are haters.

isiah doesn't have to explain himself to anybody but when he comes on a show like that, i wish for once he'd give a real logical response like we say here many times (we won't be under the cap til 07, i'm doing sign and trades for players that'll help in the interim while still building a pipeline, stuff like that). but he doesn't say it, he gets fed up and let's chris go all out.

it's ok tho, b/c i don't care what he says to the press. i just want to see results.

as for mo taylor - wasn't really addressed fully but he said he likes mo taylor and the talent he got back was better than the talent he sent out.

please. no one player in the NBA is a savior, never has, never will be. look at KG. Kobe. Jordan. Shaq. No one player is ever a savior. Only combinations of great players and great coaches win

The one thing I think Mad Dog brought up that is true is that Isiah may be too cozy with Marbury. Marbury is not Jordan, or Kobe for that matter. No GM should have to kiss his butt, he hasn't earned it. And it does creat distance between Marbury and the rest of the team.
Marbury's body language when other guys mess up is atrocious, but look how many dumb plays he makes; ie, passing ahead wildly in the end of regulation last night, when he should have been milking the clock. He is just not that heady of a player.
Mad Dog brought that up also, that there is division over whether or not Marbury is the key player to build around. I am not so sure he is the cornerstone either.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Well, if you put Shaq on ANY team in the league they are contenders.
But I fundamentally agree with you.
