Now this is a worthy pick up. Hes active strong and long and ONLY 21. I think he's had some character issues, nothing big, but we need to take a good look at this kid. his contract is minimal so we can lay claim to him on waivers]hes only owed about 200,000 for rest of year. hes averaging a block and 3.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in only 14 minutes on average.

I believe only teams with trade exceptions or that have salary cap room can claim players off of waivers. We will have to wait until he clears for a shot. Its worth a shot to pick him up.

But didn't we pick up Vin off the waivers last year? We didn't have any trade exceptions or cap space to speak of at that time.

Definitely give him a shot.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

no... if you pick a player up off of waivers, you pay their salary...

if you let the player clear waivers, they are a free agent and negotiate whatever salary you pay them

Vin cleared waivers and then we signed him...but we can claim Sampson from waivers it seems...the last rule I did not know about.

A team can claim a waived player only if one of the following is true:

* The team is far enough under the salary cap to fit the player's entire salary.

* The team has a disabled player exception for at least the player's salary (see question number 17 ).

* The team has a trade exception for at least the player's salary (see question number 68 ).

* The player's contract is for one or two seasons and he is paid the minimum salary.

i would be perplexed if we dont claim him, if we lose tomorrow night, we will be in waiver position 6 and obviously only 4 teams would have rights before us. At his size an age, he might just be claimed by somoen who is worse than us, but if he does come by our road, we should pick him up. Why? he simply is much better than Sundov and can play NBA basketball+++ has much much more potential AND we need the size. Playing with a better PG, being around many older players should help him. I dont see any reason not to claim him, if he doesnt workout, it was minimal.

He's got a few interesting parallels with Reezy. Went to UCLA for one year. Showed tremendous "potential" (can't even say that word with a straight face anymore). Everyone agreed left school too early. Was drafted I believe at the end of the 1st round by LA, not that many spots aheaad of where Reezy went. From there it differs though. Sampson seems to have never matured emotionally or on the court. But I remember just how good this guy looked P-wise coming out of college. I'd take a chance on him in a sec.

he didnt go to ucla, he went to cal, Im sure of it. who cares, i just dont hink you give up on a 21 YO athletic 7 footer. I will tell you this, if he stayed at cal, he would be a lottery pick this year, he was probably sckered into the draft and got burned, Still with the lack of big men, i cant imagine us nOT giving him full opporunity--even if we find out some character flaws. You cant shun a 21 year old in any aspect of life, hes still a kid. kids deserve 2nd and 3rd chances.

We need more judges like you. Everybody wants to throw away the key when a kid gets caught with drugs and hes like 20.

I haven't seen him play too much, but I wouldn't be against signing him. Rather see him get some minutes than Bruno or Vin.

He is a drug head????? I know one thing, Isiah is never affraid to work with kid like that. I like the fact that he is a big youngin. I have never seen him play, but if LA drafted him, he must have had some potentials....Why not? get him, Herb and Agwire can definitely work with this kid...I heard on ESPN last night that the Wolves are considering a trade for Zserbiak. They will probably grant him his wish and ship him to N.Y. if this is true, could Coochie and Kurt's contract make that deal work, or will we have to include Nazr in that? Franckly, I wouldn't mind trading Nazr, Coochie and Kurt for Zserbiak, a second round pick, and Kandi

Judging by his body, he looks like a hell of a talent. Isiah should definitely consider him. If this dude dedicate himself into weight lifting, which he should do to better handle his position, he will be a freak....Hell yeah, he looks more like a Center than Nazr or anyone else that we have on our roster right now....Agwire could work wonders with this kid...
