7ft 260lbs center who might be the top Euro prospect! his weaknesses are a bit disturbing but he is only 18 and you can't really go by these mock drafts because then you miss out on the Amare's of the world.

I'd much rather take a gamble on a 19 year old with weaknesses than a 23 year old with weaknesses.

he never plays... if he drops way down or something maybe, like a Lampe type situation. Otherwise I would rather have a guy thats shown he can perform on some level, even if its HS

there will be no high schoolers available to us unless you want another 6'2'' SG in Louis Williams http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/louiswilliams.asp

if we really tank this season I would like the Brazilian who is compared to pau gasol, Tiago Splitter not just cos I'm Brazilian http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/tiagosplitter.asp

relax.. the draft landscape will completely change in the next 2 months. Guy will have good tournements, HS kids will shine in the McDonalds AA games... that site doesnt have 1/3 of the guys that will go in the first round this year.

yeah that is very true but based on the draft situaion now, I would say take Preto if we stay where we are or Splitter if we tank

I havent seen enough guys play, but there are some guys I like that coud be had late.

I like Jarred Jack as the backup PG. He's raw but explosive, has and NBA body, plays D and plays hard.
range 20-25

I like Wayne Simeon. I wont lie.. havent seen him play but everything I have read confirms what Briggs says, he's a beast around the basket and a physically intimidating player. I see him as a young Antonio Davis. He's been hurt so I put him in the 20-25 range also.

Last is Hakim Warrik. I dont know where he will fit in the NBA, but when you can play you can play. He's explosive at both ends and loves to play D and board. He gives me another 3/4 to go with Ariza (who I consider a 2/3).
range 14-18

I see no reason we cant get these picks. Every year teams with late #1s trade down the 2nd round so they dont have to guarentee a guy for 3 years. We could flat out buy a late #1 for cash. We could use cash and Houston's #2 to move up as well.

WORST case is these 3 guys round out the end of the bench, but it gives you a good pipeline in case a guy gets hurt and they have more upside than Bruno or Baker or Brewer for that matter.

Petro should be a scenario where we fly over and scout him extensively, and work him out. Then if he's the goods you give him a promise.

I totally agree with you about those 3 guys Fish. Jack is going to be a good NBA PG, he's built like Stephon but is more of a pure PG who can turn on the scoring when he needs too. Great passer and teamleader and not to mention... PLAYS D!

Simeon is a beast. He overwhelms people around the basket and and he has a nice jumpshot to go along with it, he'd be a excellent mid round draft pick (I assume he'll go midround with all the HS, foreign guys and maybe 2 or 3 college kids going before him)

I'm not sure about Warrick. I watch alot of Syracuse games and the guy is a athletic freak who can dunk from anywhere on the court but like you, I'm not sure how he'll translate into the NBA. He actually reminds me alot of a 6'8 version of Camby he'll be a great enery player who can play in a run and gun system and shotblock but I'm not sure about anything else... unless he improves his shooting thats what he'll be. I can't wait for this years pre-draft camp since it looks like we might actually have a pick worth paying close attention the camps.

I agree... the point is we need to not obsess about getting the next Amare, and focus on using the draft to fill out our roster with young cheap guys that have upside, and will work just to stay in the league. I like college guys from good programs and good coaches that have proven to have strong work ethics.

I agree having perimeter players who play D would be nice. that is the one clear knock on Marbury. His d is atrocious. But if we're not going to draft a PF/C then I'd rather go for best talent. How high is this guy Jack projected to go? he he worth it when we already have Marbury and really need a PF/C? I would like to draft a backup PG with one of our two 2nd rd picks. I trust that isiah can find another diamond in the rough late in the 2nd round

** just found info on this Jack guy:
Very turnover-prone against equally quick guards (7 against Felton and UNC); gets beat on defense easily despite quickness; ball handling techniques are a bit awkward (dribbles the ball rather high at times); seems a bit nonchalant sometimes on both ends of the court.
www.draftcity.com

I don't know if he's worth not drafting a talented athletic PF/C over when we already have a proven star in Marbury. Plus he would never play on this team which is why I would be shocked if Isiah drafted him

I really love Josh Boone from CT, but I'm guessing he'll go top 5 this year or next.

Warrick or Simeon would be great picks. Warrick is the next Shawn Marion.

both draftcity.com and nbadraft.net have Simien going in the 2nd round. He would be a great steal if we can land him with one of our 2 2nd round picks

the first guy on my list is Andrew Bogut. This is a guy who wouldve been a fringe 2nd rounder last year at best, and I personally thought he was not NBA material at all UNTIL I watched him this year. He lost a tad of weight and is moving very fluid. His skill level for a big man is comparable to Tim Duncan IMHO. hes not a shot blocker like TIM, but he is a premium post up player with an extremly high IQ. I dont think he is a pure 7 footer--probably closer to 6-10 1/2, but he ha long arms. I rate him ahead of all the other bigs like josh boone, Taft etc... but at the end of the day he's going to be a top 3--so were probably not going to take him--unfortunately hes probably not an isiah type player, but he is the best player coming into this draft for a big man who can play *5*.

I dont know where we are going to go, I have no idea if we ll even draft anyone, but I would stay away from foreign players who cant score in their leagues. If they cant score in foreign leagues, they dont have a chance in hll here.

I also wouldnt touch Hakim Warwick with a ten foot pole unless I had a 27 pick or something because he is a 4 and he weighs 210. Its very fair to take a shot with him late in the 1 like i said before, but not a high pick.

If we have just 1 pick, Id try to go big. If we pick bewteen 8-14, Im still taking Wayne Simien.

As far as PG's Id take Daniel Gibson of Texas. I like Jack, but this kid Gibson is headed for super stardom.

Briggs, I know you know Uconn, is Boone coming out this year? Will he be in our range (I'm guessing around the 8-14 range).

yeah I'd be worried too if he can't score against european players. there some good european bigmen but you should be able to score on most of them if you're going to make it in the nba.

Petro is huge. If he's at all athletic he's worth the risk.

I'd rather have a polished player like Warrick, especially when Marion is showing that smaller athletes can play the four.

actually i take that back. you can't expect a 17-18 year old to score on any professional athlete. Nene wasn't ligthing it up either but look how far they come after they've developed and matured for a couple of years. I'm all for Petro right now. For one he is a more realistic option since we'll mostly likely be in that 10-16th pick range. I would still like Simien and a backup PG with our 2nd round picks though

the one other guy who is worthy of a high pick, and I mean 7-14 for US is rashad McCants. He has always been on my list, I think he stands out at the SG position. He plays both ways, hes very stong, has a beatiful touch etc...
but I dont know how isiah evaluates the SG position because we currently have 20mm$ worth of them, but it still is an unsettled position.

thats the problem with the Knicks, we need help everywhere. Id start with 5 or 3, but the value of those players will be in the top 6 then you drop to the next level of 14-21. I dont see a *5* that I would take after pick 6--then you are talking 2nd round stuff.
