i know, you can't teach height. but he does more on the court in less minutes than curry. he has just as good a post game, if not better b/c he gets to the line ALOT. he boards more, and this is only his first real full season. he needs to shed 20 more lbs, and learn to control his fouls but after 3 full seasons of heavy minutes for curry, sweetney's growth curve is much higher and in game impact is much higher. if we make a concerted effort to get him the ball in the post at least 10-15 times a game, he will EASILY average 12-15pts.

give me chandler, keep curry.

Nobody should be comparing him to curry one used Jenny Craig, the other one went to Richard Simmons and got no results.

Now if anybody else tells me that sweeyney is gonna be vaulable to the knicks without losing that fat and playing like a soft Panda bear they need to be put in a asylum.
He can't move for loose balls b/c of his weight, he can't defend guy moving lateraly b/c of his weight. I am tired of watching him look so helpless b/c of his weight.

I really don't care what his numbers are "NOW" his #'s would be that much better if he left the pepperidge farm cakes alone along with all you can eat take out buffet.

I would trade him unless he allows the knicks to put him on a "SPECIAL SLIM TRIM DIET" to gain muscle and lose that fat.

playa2, you don't know what you are talking about. Sweetney is going to be a 20 pt. 10 reb guy and perennial all-star in this league one day

he has the wingspan of Elton brand even if he does reminds me of Othella harrington

lol

if Curry starts rebounding and blocking shots then you can say he'll help us more than Sweetney will.

InsideHoops.com: How'd your summer go? What did you do?

Mike Sweetney: I worked out the whole summer, traveled to different places to work out, and played in the NBA summer league in L.A.

InsideHoops.com: And off the court, anything cool?

Mike Sweetney: Nothing really; just chilled at home, back in Maryland, spent some time with my family, and that was it.

InsideHoops.com: Talk about summer workout routines, if you did new stuff, different stuff, what you focused on.

Mike Sweetney: Just running, doing a little road work, running a couple miles, sometimes two-a-day, sometimes one-a-day.

InsideHoops.com: Did the Knicks give you a specific workout routine for the summer, or do you just make it up yourself?

Mike Sweetney: I just figure it out myself.

At 22 how is he gonna figure it out. How many players get personal trainers all yr round.

Seriously If he lost it knicca he gains it all back ,dude needs to get serious before he ends up like "OLIVER MILLER" Tons of talent and too much junk in his trunk!

that's sad the guy had to figure it out himself

well i guess i can give him credit for figuring it out. i don't know how too many players who had all of that fat meat on their bodies that were anything special over a period of time

if anyone knows someone who was then, enlighten me

we need pat riley up in here. Do you remember how fit he had those players. 2% body fat and all that.thats what sweets needs now. He is better in the post than curry and a better rebounder as well.

however, curry is about 3 inches taller, has slimmed down, and therefore still has a greater upside. Sweets learned alot playing in georgetown. Curry left high school for the pros and I don't know about chi's bigman coaches. He Ranks #2 in the NBA in Turnovers Per 48 Minutes(5.09). That is evidence of very poor fundamentals. He will learn it eventually and he will be a beast eventually as well.

We don't have curry and may never have him, so I am excited to watch sweets in action, because he is a great talent, I could see him putting up 15 & 10 and most importantly, he is on our side.

Apples and oranges. they play different positions. What impresses me about Sweetney is that he can score on PFs and Center. What I would like to see is more of Sweetney and Nazr or until something better comes along at Center. But yeah Sweeetney is better than KT and that is what counts on the Knicks not if he is better than Curry. Sweetney needs to be starting I really don't care if he is fat that can be lost. What the Knicks need to do is maximize his skills with PT.

Just the opposite. I really am not a big Curry supporter. I would love to have him in NY, but not willing to give up much at all.
Why do I see Curry as the next Dampier? Gets his pay day and then relaxes until his next contract year.

Yeah, me might score 20pts and bring down 10 boards 1 day, just don't count on him to do that every day. :)

(Even Othella Harrington is capable of occassional brilliance...)

if Sweetney ever learned how to stay out of foul trouble & lost about 25 lbs. so he could keep his stamina up to play a full 40 minutes & be effective, then i might change my tune...but at this point i still feel Curry is the better talent...neither of them have reached their potential yet, but Curry's ceiling is alot higher imho.

i don't think so...both of them can turn out to be flops, u still don't know...if Sweetney lets his body go & gains alot of weight, he can turn into another Tractor Traylor real easy.

Sweets has better court awareness and is miles ahead defensively. That said, Curry is one of those players who is unstoppable on offense at times. As a big man, that's rare.

I don't think Sweets will ever be as lame as Tractor. Scarily, he reminds me of a young Clarence Weatherspoon. When Spoon was young, he was more mobile, could score in the post, could move on D and grab some boards. He was never big enough to dunk in traffic or swat shots or really seem like a pressence. People forget Spoon averaged like 18 and 10 one season early on. I see a lot of Spoon in Sweets.

I'm rooting for Mike. He is a nice guy and seems to be working hard.. for him. That's the thing, he needs to hire a trainer that pushes him past what he thinks is possible. I like his desire, but here we are a year and half into his career and were still talking about his weight. He needs to do something about it now.

Scarily is right. SPOON??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

but really I think he is much better in the post than spoon and has more hops. But he definitely must get his weight down.
