Phoenix in the WEST and Washington in the EAST.

Washington has young players that will play for 48 minutes 94 ft and will pressure you into turnovers. They have 3 biggs HAYWOOD, E.THOMAS and K.BROWN + HUGHES and ARENAS has to be the best back court in the NBA.
Antwan Jamison is just a unorthdox scorer that usually keeps oppossing team off balance. Washington bench is good with J.Hayes, J.Dixon and defense rebounder Ruffin.

Phoenix has suprised the NBA with "GREAT GM MOVES" acquring Q.Richardson and Nash from free agency, also Amare puts fear in any big man(including duncan) in the wester conf. J.Johnson has improved his play making abilites when Marbury was dealt to the knicks and now feels comfortable handling the ball.

Suns avg 110 pts per gm and shoot 48% as a team also the avg almost 6 blks a game and 7 steals.

S.Marion is the X factor, he is Mr everything for the Suns, 3pt shooting, Reb and defends+ he runs the floor like a gazelle on both ends. On the bench they bring in a young shot blocker Hunter who understands his role and fits in perfect when their defense funnels oppossing players his way and he blocks shots.

Zeke really needs to stop the bleeding and do what ever he can to give us an identity, right now all we have become under Wilkens is a "more talented" Don Chaney bunch.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

well, it took washington 3 years to recover from jordan.

and it took pheonix 3 years to get to this point thanks to drafting amare.

let's see where we are in 2 more years.

When we become a running team KT has to be the 1st to go, then I will know we are heading in the right direction.

wow, this time last year everyone was harping about how we should have followed DEN's example...meanwhile they have a worse record than we do right now...i guess now Phoenix & Washington are the flavors of the month...let's see what happens if they have a disappointing season next year.

You got to LOVE what Ernie Grunfeld has done in Washington. He took a lot of heat after signing Arenas. Many felt he overpaid well, boy were they wrong. Arenas is a total STUD! Then he made the brilliant trade to bring in Jamison who's a fantastic player, great around the basket and possesses tremendous timing. They got a little lucky with Hughes who blossomed late (give props to Eddie Jordan for that)... a fantastic nucleus for many years... all this, in spite of HUGE disappointment from... yep, you guessed it... Kwame Brown.

good point TMS

how are we going to model our team after teams that either had cap space to sign players or had high draft picks or both

they didn't model themselves after us whe we had our good to great knickerbocker teams

I say we try and abolish the salary cap and follow the Yankees. If Dolan is willing to pay, I could live with an all star team . (Of course hold onto Marbury/Crawford/Sweetney/Ariza)

Phoenix lucked out in the BIGGEST way that Amare has turned into an all star.

What if he had turned into Kwame Brown??????

You wouldn't be saying- Lets follow the example of Phoenix.

But, the one thing I do say is that these are teams that have brought in youth through the draft and that is something we need to continue to do. Sweetney & Ariza are small steps in the right direction.

I think if Zeke was gm when Amare was there for the taking in the draft. We would have had him. Suns guranteed him #9 pick and he stopped working out for other teams. But if Zeke was our Gm he might have worked out for us and considerd coming to NY. Or maybe not. Maybe the chance to play with Marbury & Marion in sun was to tempting to pass up.

he's got a LOT to work with this offseason. It will be interesting and this offseason and trade deadline of next season will be his make or break as GM

Many teams passed on the guy it was his fate to play in the valley of the sun.

There was no pressure in Phoenix when he went there, but if he would have come to NY.

He would have been under a microscope, people watching his every move.

Where he hung out , what his crew was all about etc.

Amare would have really been tested in NY trying to live up to the hype, in Phoenix he quietly has become the #1 feared big man after shaq when it comes to attacking the basket.

I don't think Amare would have any problem playing here- he seams fearless.

But, it would have been Layden picking and had he not traded the pick to Denver (Nene) and actually kept Amare, he probably would have been benched by Chaney.

I don't think even chaney would have benched AMARE especially if he was destroying the KT's of the world in training camp!

didn't amare pretty much say that he would only sign with pheonix and actually only worked out with the suns?

he had off court issues combined with his choice to only play in pheonix scared a bunch of teams off.
