It's crazy - I think it's mostly mindset these days where
1) it's acceptable to miss time
2) teams have teams of trainers responsible for keeping guys healthy and are overly cautious returning them to court
3) Lots of tanking for what appears to be very good Top 5 draft this year and teams knowing they can't compete with upper teams
4) Everyone is extremely high strung in terms of being in top condition and maybe the higher strung the easier to get soft tissue injuries

Lastly - I have no idea.

I do think there is some overreaction like these guys are glass and gonna break if you play them 40 minutes vs. 36 minutes.

Back in the day when sneakers sucked, and ACL/rotator cuff/achilles tear was a pro athlete death sentence, players came in the league mostly at 22 and then started to put on minutes. College and all seasons were shorter. Some played different sports. Clyde was a top notch QB in high school! Etc.
True, todays athletes specialize younger, play crazy amounts of hoop at an early age, etc.
But medicine is so much better now.

True stars are playing longer. Lebron and Durant are at crazy levels of play. Durant is less durable these days but when he plays he is tippy top.
Back in the day a bad injury wiped to or lessoned careers. Clyde last Allstar game was at age 30. Within two years he fell off quickly after.
but in his prime he avi'd 40 min a game.
Reed? 7years all star/MVP. BY age 29 he was cooked. By 31, retired.
Cazzie Russell. Strange career up and down. one all star game. Complicated person. Was perhaps the most talented player on the team. Injuries, contracts, felt oppressed by social order of the day. Im not here to speak for him, just what I have read. Dude was up and down a few times statistically and did not fit in the unselfish game the knicks played. We traded him for Jerry Lucas and won another chip. But injuries really curtailed his productions. Had a really nice year for lakers at age 32 then was cooked.

Embiid is cobbled together and perhaps given massive contract due to modern medicine able to keep him going to some extent.
Add Kawahi, KP and you have three "Stars" who have sat a lot. Chet Hologram? Another talented unicorn with issues his first few years. Jah Mordant? Ben Simmons? Add mental health to games missed? these two not the only ones.

Zion? Back in the day he perhaps never makes it out of college due to injuries.
LaMelo Ball? Very curious case and has really one full season under his belt. Just 202 games played now in his 5th season.
He played just 12 games in Australia as 18 year old and had an injury.
That he rose to be rookie of the year and as good a player is exceptional. Kid is talented. While not a freak like Zion or Holmgren, he is a skinny kid whose durability is questioned for good reasons. If he played a few years in college might have this been vetted? Maybe.

My point? Great players were cooked younger back in the day. Now we pay them on potential and hold them together.

He's sort of like part of this new breed of hyper aggressive, high motor defensive wing like Eason or Thompson in Houston. We sort of see these baby OG's popping up around the league. Plus their rookie kicked our butts in the first match up. I think we win this one - our wings are finding themselves and know that we're much more dangerous if they're working hard to get themselves open rather than just parking at the 3pt line. Win.

Raptors: Under the radar dangerous. RJ is balling this year - I'm seriously happy for him. Much has been said about their poor record, but RJ missed the start of the season, and Barnes/Quickley have missed games too. Poetl is balling like crazy too and might be a top-3 center in the east. I can easily see this team getting around .500 and contending for a playoff spot. We should be able to handle them - they don't have enough reliable shooters on their roster and Quickley is still out. Win.

Wolves: I think the chemistry bit with Randle has been a bit exaggerated. I think their biggest issue is that they badly need legit PG depth. Conley is 37 and only 6'. He's missed a bunch of games already and that is throwing off the whole team. The Wolves saw the development of Edwards as a passable distributor and ball handler as a reason to pick up DiVo instead of go after a legit PG. DiVincenzo can play PG for stretches (I'd say he has good combo guard skills). He'll run plays, but he's not going to create easy baskets for others often. And of course his shooting this season continues to be terrible. No one can say if he's injured or if he's having a tough time playing with Gobert. He's finishing a poor 40.6% at the basket this season - league average is 59.2%! Last year he shot 53.5%. Maybe Gobert is hanging around the basket too much and brings his defender over with him. In any case, sure, this is a potentially tough team, but at the moment, especially with Conley & DiVo playing meh basketball, this should also be a Win.
