McBride would provide the ultimate spacing on the court with the same level of defense. OG can make up for Hart’s rebounding.

Like Hart’s versatility coming off the bench and would form a more balanced 2nd unit:

PG: Payne/Kolek
SG: Shamet
SF: Hart
PF: Chewy
C : Sims

Thibs keeps his rotations short, so lack of scoring from 2nd unit will not be that big of a deal.

I believe we have enough scoring in the starting lineup, but not in the second unit, since DDV was traded. Hart said this in an interview in the Post..

“At the end of the day, my job isn’t to go out there and score 20. It’s not to go out there and force things offensively and try to make things happen,” Hart said. “My job is to rebound, defend at a high level, offensively kind of be a connector, get into the lane and find guys for open shots, get the rebound, push the pace and get us easy transition buckets.

“I don’t worry about shots. The shots will come how I play. How I play is very random. The shots will be there. I think I shot the ball twice [Sunday]. At the end of the day, I don’t think any team’s won without several people sacrificing. If that’s me sacrificing points, I will gladly do that.”

I agree with that assessment of his role in the starting lineup. Between JHart and Deuce, I believe Josh will play that role as a starter better Deuce.

Hart is a much better glue guy than Deuce, who is more instant offense. We need McBride to play that role more as a reserve than a starter.

Without Hart in SL we would be bad at rebounding. It's not exactly a strength for OG. Rebounding was our key area in seasons of the past. Mitch+ Randle vs. KAT + OG...not good, now KAT+ Hart is much better.
That second unit with Hart is just brutal offensively. They would be playing 2 vs 5 on offense

no... Josh is not just a glue guy or role player. He can get triple doubles without ever needing the ball. What he brings is really top shelf and McBride is good but we dont need another shooter there unless coach makes it situational.

Hart is a minutes guy also.. the more he plays the more good he generates

Initially I was more in favor of Deuce being the starter. Allowing the starting lineup to have 5 3pt shooters and elite defense from 2-4. As well has Hart being that swiss army knife leader for the 2nd unit.

But, if Deuce & Shamet are able to generate offense consistently like they did for that first preseason game. Then that offsets the need for Hart to be that leader for the 2nd unit.

Deuce is the perfect 6th man for the team we have here. He can come in and press defensively and hit 3's in bunches. Its a little bit like Quickley who could heat up and change the complexion of a game, but Deuce has even more 2 way chops. You want Hart out there with the SL as a connector and dirty work guy. You also have two non-switchable defenders in KAT and Brunson, so you compensate with 3 pretty interchangeable guys on the wing.

I like it! Deuce can def be that secondary ball handler and he's become a very good 3pt shooting and we know he will defend his ass off! Plus it gives us better balance. Hart would be a shoe in to win 6th Man too.

It will allows Kolek a chance to crack the rotation later in the season for Payne as that backup PG.

I can be persuaded to either. But our rebounding will definitely be poor without Josh in the starting lineup. I am scared of OG trying to play "power forward" in the conventional "power" sense. Don't think Thibs is thinking about tinkering the starters so I'm good with the current rotation.

Not buying it at all. Supposition without data.

After Randle and Mitch are out of lineup for Feb 2024 onward in regular season. Knicks 3rd best rebounding team. Maybe we are not as burly without Randle, iHart, Mitch but that does not mean the rebounding will drop. Otherwise, help me understand how you got to that point.

3rd best rebounding %:

I'll be redundant, our rebounding was the product of guys boxing out then just size and individual effort.
This is were OG might also be excelling at.

To Nalod, our offense will improve and our defense perhaps will drop. bottom line is the winner scores more points the the opponent. How you get there matters.

With OG, Mikal, and hart creating havoc (like the Heatles did) we will run teams off the court.

Who are you and what have you done with Blkexec?

As we know, Thibs does not roll 10 deep. So chances strong that he goes with

JB
KAT
Bridges
OG
Hart
Deuce
Shamet
Precious or Simms
Payne or Kolek

I even see a big chance of a 8 man rotation.

Hart in first unit makes so much more sense since they don’t need additional scoring or players to spread the floor.
KAT spreads the floor but when guarding other stretch players, he tends to stay out there and does not rebound. Same with OG and Bridges when defending the wing. Hart is always around the ball.
And we know JB does not rebound.
In terms of scorers, we have Bridges, JB and KAT for that with
Everyone but Hart able to spread the floor by being able to hit a knockdown 3 at a high rate.
Feel we will have one if not 2 of the starters in with the second unit at all times.
With Shamet, Precious and Deuce as the only ones I see as definite bigger role guys.
Until Mitch comes back then he would take over Precious minutes.

I'm pretty certain that's not Rebecca said when she met Wally.

I would start Brunson, Bridges, OG, Precious and Kat (until Mitch returns or is traded for another Center). I see logic in maybe starting Deuce if you wanted to have a perfectly balanced starting five and bench unit as Bridges and Hart off the bench would be amazing.

Brunson, Deuce, OG, Precious, KAT

Payne, Shamet, Bridges, Hart, Mitch

Who wins if they play 10 games? I think starters win 6-4

Well at least Deuce should be the first guy off the bench. One of the main reasons why I suggested Deuce starting is that Hart can sub in 1 thru 4 depending on foul trouble & match ups.

I agree that Precious will ultimately be the starting PF, but I don't think Deuce beats out Bridges.
I think its JB, Bridges, OG, Precious, KAT
I know Thibs loves Hart, but I also don't think he is going to pass up on the extra size that Precious brings to that unit

Hahn was on the KFS podcast and he made a great point about Hart. He said if Hart is in the SL there's a really good chance he grabs 10+ boards per game this year. I am inclined to agree. Brunson commands doubles, KAT needs a big body defender and is gonna bring defenders away from the basket, and you have to close out on OG and Bridges from the corner. Teams are gonna play off Hart and Hart can roam around and follow the ball. He averaged almost 12 rpg in the playoffs- Philly played off him and he was getting to every ball. As much as you love Deuce's shooting and D, having Hart's rebounding out with the SL (OG isn't a great rebounder, and if KAT is taking a lot of 3's he's not gonna be near the offensive boards) is going be extremely important.
