what's the timeline for extending Brunson/Randle?

with guys like Cade, Mobley, Barnes and Franz getting $225mm deals what do these extensions look like? It surely seems a non-all NBA max(ish) multi year extension for both is a good investment in this market.

Locks us into a real window to contend w/ Brunson/Jules/OG/Josh/DD all locked up for 4-5 years. A new deal for Bridges will be dicey... but we have 2 years there

I remember reporters saying Jalen can do it soon and Randle in August.

Jalen rumored to take a team friendly 4 year deal now.
Randle I think beginning of August he is eligible. The trade talk of late centers around many issues but important is what he may ask for and if it fits the team agenda? Its not just a "Trade Randle" open concept thing "for a better player".
Its could be for need a the 5, so you take Sengun and Dillon Brooks for Randle type deal. Does it make us better? Thats debatable as we need a 5, and Randle is the better player now of any of the players in the mix. Im using Brooks as money needs to come back in any trade for Sengun.
In the new era of CBA im not sure one can look at that4-5 window anymore but there is a core in place with good contracts. One reason we here and now with that was Randle took a friendly deal.
Boston turned over its core with the exception of Tatum and Brown the last few years since making the finals. From what I read Brunson will be an easy one. Randle is tough to predict.

I think Brunson (and Robinson) are extension eligible on July 12th. Randle on August 3rd. At least according to Spotrac.

I don't think either Brunson or Randle will sign for the absolute max but they also won't sign for the minimum. Probably somewhere in the middle and definitely more then OG's $42.5M. yearly average so I'd guess 5 years/$225M ($45M per year) is in the ballpark.

If Brunson signs its going to be for the max. His paycut is coming from signing one year early. he would make way more money per year if he signs next season. So he is not going to take 2 paycuts on the same contract.

was just thinking. Brunson was all over the place and recently he been back in NY. It could just be because he came to welcome Bridges but since he can sign his contact tomorrow he would want to be here in person.

Brunson — has a player option next offseason. Extend him ASAP.

Randle — this is his last contract with NYK

He’s got all leverage and then some because we went all in with this Villanova super friends roster. Not that it wasn’t the right move it was but we gotta pay the man.

If Brunson actually signs this 4yr/156m extension, I will love him forever lol. Truly unselfish individual. And here you have guys have Paul George who left the place he wanted to be because 150m wasn't enough

One quick undisputed fact: The Knicks have been contenders every single year that Rick Brunson has been with the Knicks organization. Which is why he too will be signing a $30 million dollar extension as an assistant coach.
