I love the starting lineup right now. It is everything we need to compete. And I’m guessing most finishing lineups will have Hart in place of DiVincenzo, so the defense should always be elite. No issues with the starting or closing lineups. But we really are going to feel those bench minutes without a Rose or Quickley now. The good news is there should be options out there at the deadline. Unless someone like Murray becomes available and you add another shot creator to stagger with lineups, the next move should probably be bench scoring. Malcolm Brogdon (CAA) really stands out. Not sure if the cost will be Fournier and a pick or if Grimes would be required. Clarkson and Rozier are other options. Hart and Grimes seem settled in their roles, and Hart is the 6th man, but he’s not the shot creator we need off the bench. The bench is missing that scorer. Outside of an unexpected major move, hopefully this is what the front office is thinking. Plenty of time between now and the deadline to address.

Hart is fine as a 6th man for now.

I do think Grimes is very important to this team, in an ideal world he can score enough to start, play 30mpg and improve our defense even more and allow DDV to play with the 2nd unit.

DDV
Hart
Ihart

are 3 HIGH END bench players. maybe next season we can bring Rokas over.

Nah, I agree with that Hart is a godd enough sixth-man. I thought backup 4 was a stretch, but there's no denying the shot in the arm he gave us last year as a jack of all trades guy who pushes the pace. But he doesn't address the need for shooting. Hopeful Grimes can pick it up.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick

Yup he was more than fine at backup PF as well, we only ran into troubles when Mitch got hurt and Grimes got benched.

Must have had one hell of a night. Black coffee and sleep it off. If Mitch was still on the team, team would still be way better with Hart playing against players his size. Size matters in sex and basketball my friend the NBA is not FIFA. Size ans skill and versatility is essential. Hart has not had the impact that he had last season because he was stretched out of his role. Just because he can rebound doesn't mean he should be a PF and just because he can score and push the ball that he is a 6 man. Hart is essential but optimize his production by keeping him in his appropriate niche

Between McBride and Grimes, I think they need to let their assets percolate a little.

1) DDV is playing way above my expectations.
2) jHart has been a glue guy all over the place.
3) iHart might be realizing how big he is after blocking Gobert dirty twice. He plays soft on offense with that 3 foot floater. Somebody should give him the bear speech from Swingers. He’s trying to figure out how to kill the bunny when he has these big bad claws…

I think McBride and Grimes just need some real PT to get going.

Now Precious is a guy that I hope the coaches can sort out. He has all the size and athleticism you could want in a player. Just needs to put it together. DJ certainly lowered my expectations in his reality check. But man, the team that unlocks him will have a monster in their hands. Same way I thought of Usman Garuba.

You know I gonna spin wit it

I agree Hart is fine as 6th man. We just need a playmaker replacement off the bench. A 7th man if you will.

I’m with you on Murray. Adding Brogdon would be solid though , especially since he’s a big expiring contract next year to use in a deal. My concern is we would be tight in the rotation again without a lot of minutes to go around, unless Grimes is traded for Brogdon.

No trading Grimes for Brodgan. And tight minutes in rotation is a good problem.

Need to stay away from guys that are injury prone.

The trade looks like it balanced things out considerably and opened up spacing and the ball was moving.
But, Thibs is going to run Brunson, Randle and OG into the ground. They really need to score at an unbelievably high rate.

Tyus Jones and Derozan are interesting candidates to be traded… Clarkson shoots a low percentage but he can cook and we are going to need someone. But at least he’s signed…

I’m going to think it’s Grimes, Fournier plus 1 good pick and 1 so so pick if that.

Thing is if we land Murray I think Grimes becomes expendable just based on rotation minutes.

If you assume Brunson avg. 36 mpg (current avg).

You can play Murray with Brunson with starting 5 and Murray picks up the 12 minutes at back-up pg when Jalen sits. Murray is avg 35 mpg on season - lets say he keeps that # with Knicks that gives him 23 as SG off Brunson (23 SG & 12 PG). That leaves another 25 minutes per game for Donte off the bench at SG.

So Murray lets you move DD back to bench as primary shooter there with Murray/DD/Hart/OG?/Achiuwa or Sims at 5 —- I think that’s an 8 man rotation. Brunson/Murray/OG/Randle/I-Hart and DD/J-Hart/Precious

Knicks need another ball handler who can get in the paint, creat shots and defend both guard positions =Murray. Also Murray could be dealt in summer as -art of Mitchell package if we go that way.

The Deuce contract is very interesting— are they saying he is going to be the back-up, is it to trade the contract or is it simply a gift to a kid they love.

Would be interesting if deal were Deuce/Fournier/2 picks and we keep Grimes

Much prefer Murray entering prime vs Brogdon exiting prime but if on the cheap yes he’s tough.

The thing is DD isn’t hesitating and he’s letting his shot rip —— Grimes just keeps giving off the scared vibe for me. He has it in him if he had DD’s confidence he’d be a stud.

Yes it can be a good problem. Maybe we can get our old friend Burks on the cheap back from Detroit. He’s an upcoming free agent. He’s been bad this year but he can give us a solid 15 mpg of offense.

If Grimes can play like he did last year, then DDV can be an excellent 6 the man. If that works out we can trade Evans contract for a good center. Just would you trade for a center and then next season trade one of our three centers or let Heart leave, perhaps after a sign and trade. You could trade for Capella, Vucevic, Robert Williams from Portland for example. Then you could even keep that new player and Heart and trade Mitch. Just throwing out options
.

DDV isn’t creating offense. He’s best used as a spot up shooter. Now if the Knicks add someone like Murray or Mitchell they can just stagger more and you can live with DDV and Hart off the bench.

Knicks look good, but now they need a new 6th man
