Dallas isn't tanking and/or losing on purpose.

They're just on a 3 game losing streak @ .000%, 3-7 previous 10 games @ .300%, 5-9 since Kyrie Irving played his 1st game @ .357% and 1 game below .500 on the year @ only 34-35 overall etc, etc.

Because Dallas just isn't a very good team (@ all) and the Western Conference Finals ghost of Jalen Brunson is going to haunt them and haunt them for (many of) years.

I think the suspicion revolves around Luka and Kyrie not playing.

Seems late in the year since based case for them is finishing with about the 9th worst record. Looking like a good Knicks pick though hopefully. Much better than expected.

I doubt it because they traded for Kyrie to presumably resign him. I don’t think he would view the team that well if they cannot even make the playoffs. Dallas is simply not as good as they were last year. They miss Brunson, and they miss the players they gave up for Kyrie.

Mavs are tied for 4 teams with a record 34-35. There are 12 other teams with a worse record.

Even if they end up the worst of those teams they are currently tied with they still need to leap frog a couple teams. Knicks are looking in great shape for this pick. Its currently 15 but that could to 13 or 18 with one win or a loss.

There's NO WAY they are tanking. They will be desperate to make the playoffs in hopes their big 2 gets hot and makes a run.

Not exactly...

Team who finishes 11-14 has NO shot at picks 5 through the one pick ahead of them. They can ONLY get one of the top 4 picks (very low odds), or the exact pick of the order they finished, or the picks behind them.

So let's say you finish with the 12th worst record of the teams who don't make the postseason (meaning after the play-in games.

Your chances are 2.1% (#1), 2.3% (#2), 2.6% (#3), 2.9% (#4), 0% (#s 5-11), 83.5% (#12), 6.6% (#13), and 0.1% (#14).

That would suck . In the end I think they will end up 11-15 which in this draft which is considered pretty deep would her good for us

Yes 11 this AM —— not sure I like the gamble of them falling in the 11-14 range and having chance to land a top 4.

Lets say its not “Knicks luck” to count on.
Whats worse than Knicks luck? Might be Dallas?
They have a chip and did well with Dirk, but some gaffs along the way.
Franchise let Nash and Brunson walk! Chandler Parsons was a big boo boo financially.
It happens. Injuries matter. Bad luck.
Every team. Has “best and worst” list. Cube and Co. got cute with the 2011 chip team and could not stay at that level. Not saying they win with heat at the peak of powers, but they did not stay contending.
