https://nypost.com/2023/03/07/lebron-james-slams-nba-players-in-tweet-bronny-definitely-better/

I always thought he was a jerk but when he opens up his mouth he proves it

1)Says his son is better than some of the NBA talent he is watching on tv ( just no respect for his fellow NBA players)

2)“I think Bronny can go to any college he wants to. All I have to do is pick up the phone. ( He needs to call to get his son into the school? If he is so good Lebron wouldn't have to make that call)

I would love to see the son suit up in an NBA game today and get his azz kicked

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Making his son's NBA dream even more challenging. Its going to be tough enough being the son of one of the two GOATS.

This is putting an even bigger X on his back, almost a dare. Dont believe LeBron thought this through. Which he doesnt do very often.

I think Lebron is similar to Lavar Ball. And watching how Lavar self marketed his boys, which helped increase their stock value. Hate Lavar all you want but he gave everyone the blue print on what to do.

Fast forwards to Lebron and I think he’s similar to Lavar. He will do what it takes to get his son on the right path. And if that target didn’t hurt Lavars boys then what makes Lebron do something different.

So I’m not surprised by this. Lebron came into the league with the biggest target you can have on your back and he made it. I’m sure he’s teaching his son to learn how to use that target to your advantage.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

The most helpful thing LeBron can do for his son IMO, considering his father is the GOAT. Is to manage expectations.

Lavar was a NBA scrub. Did well for his sons though. But thats a different kind of legacy, which Bronny isnt part of.

I think LeBron could start his own university if he wanted to. Call it Bronny College. Now THAT would be truly impressive.

I mean...https://ipromise.school/.

I've softened on LeBron over the years. Hate him on the floor - flopper, whiner, diva, all while having all the physical talent a man could want.

But he has put a lot of good out into the world (chiefly the I Promise School listed above). In the end, I don't really care what he says about his son's NBA career. More than happy to change the channel.

Any of you a dad?
Lebron is a dad.
He loves his kid.
If you don't like lebron, why read his tweets?

Starting a thread about a tweet that colors Lebron negative. He renting space in your head?
So we rooting for the kid to fail because his dad was all about bragging on his kid?
Lebron is one of the true hype stories that really did live up to the hype. Maybe this kid is all that. He is a top 25 player and his dad would bring mostly good to any school associated.

When was the last time we commented on one of his tweets?

If Bronny was almost a physical clone of his father, and not an undersized guard, I might agree.

From a distance, it feels a lot like "Bring it on".

He's a loving dad who's proud of his son and can't stop bragging/raving about his kids basketball abilities (@ such a young age).

Michael Jordan didn't give his son enough confidence and neither did Patrick Ewing.

But LeBron James is different. He's fearless and giving his son(s) all the confidence in the world that's needed in order to follow his footsteps.

LeBron is creating future NBA monsters (he knows what he's doing)

Calling LeBron a great dad a "JERK"?

THIS SHIT IS EMBARRASSING.

The "all i have to do is pick up the phone" isn't great. Does nothing to speak to the merit of his son's play. At best it just shows the lengths a father would go to for his son to have the best opportunity to succeed. At worst, its just pompous display of power. I'm more inclined towards the former. I think he's just excited at his sons growth and wants whats best for him like any other parent.

TripleThreat, any thoughts?

Bronny is 6-2 or 6-3. Don't think they do wingspan yet. He got above the rim hops.
I have no doubt Lebron can influence were his kid goes. He'll be a money machine just on the hype for the school.
He is listed as the 6th best shooting guard with still a year to go. He could fall, or go higher.
He is a legitimate blue chipper. His game tells his own story, not the hype.
Either dad is delusional or for real. Hating on the kid because you don't like the dad? Bronny still had to put in the work to get the results he is measured by.
Its not like he got rich dad and he slides on that. Every day players go after him because his dad is Lebron.
Bryce, his 15 year old son started the season at 6'6.
I have not read anyone projecting either for stardom or a clone of his dad. I would hope they is not trying to chase that. If it happens, it happens.
While many sons of NBA players have advantages over other kids the great equalizer is not the court of public opinion but the one with two baskets on it.
He has not on a school or straight to Ignite.

You guys are totally reading this wrong.

LeBron was flipping back and forth between Cavs-Celtics, Heat-Hawks, and 76ers-Pacers games last night and commenting on the Knicks, here's the full quote:

LeBron wrote:The Knicks can beat any of those trash East teams that are playing tonight. Even my son is better than some of the NBA talent I was watching on TV.

I think Bronny can go to any college he wants to - all I have to do is pick up the phone - and get drafted by those fool teams, but we planning on going NY in 2 years so I can coattail off their second title.

Tell me I'm wrong

Bragging that he can get his son into any school he wants to, all he has to do is make a phone call is not bragging about his son's ability. Its bragging about how much power he wields. I don't think he's a great dad. More like a pompous ahole.

I don't read the quote like you do...

“He’s going to make his own decision, but there’s a chance,” James said about the possibility of Bronny suiting up for Oregon. “I think Bronny can go to any college he wants to. All I have to do is pick up the phone. If Bronny says he wants to go there, he’s good enough.”

I don't think the emphasis here is on '*I* can get him in anywhere' I think the emphasis and therefore context is "he's good enough."

And not for nothing, AS a father, doing everything for your kid is to me the bare minimum, but all things are relative.

Arguably one of the most famous/'successful' people alive, Lebron James could probably have ANYTHING a human being desires, without limitation. But he SEEMS to have managed to pursue an unrivaled NBA career and juggling all that comes with it, with raising who seem at least from a vas distance to be three good kids in a stable, long-term, family environment

I don't know I'd be so harsh to judge his parenting skills or priorities given the evidence at hand.

Bronny seems like a good kid. I hope he does well. It’s a great story for the history of the NBA and I’m a fan of the nba in general. I think it’s the best league in sports.

Thanks Martin. Context is lost when there is an agenda. Thus we can make our object seem even worse when we take things out of context and parrot them for our self gratification.
Key in the article is teams are teams can't get an interview with him without going thru his mother. They are keeping it tight. Reality is Bronny can pick and choose based on his talent, not Lebrons connections.

From what I am reading, Bronny has actually taken real strides as a player and is looking like a lotto pick in the 2024 draft class.
You know I gonna spin wit it

Why does Lebron have to pick up the phone to get his son into a college? If the son is so good why is that even mentioned or a factor?

I suspect you're reading too much into a rhetorical device. I don't know, I don't suspect the guy who took over the all-time NBA scoring title a couple of weeks ago is bragging about NCAA head coaches taking his call.

I kind of think the worlds regards that as a given.

But more than that, it just doesn't occur to me to carry around grudges against athlete's and celebrities.

This.
Human nature unfortunately leans to focusing on the negative.
Lebron speaking as a father only upsets those who already had their mind made up about someone they do not know. It's what the twitter verse is built on.
