Randle's having a great bounce back, but I think we are mostly just seeing good chemistry with him Brunson/Grimes.

It's Mitch. We started seeing it before the streak but now I think he might be the biggest part.

He's boxing out other centers EVERY play he can and the result is the Knicks owning the defensive glass with Julius doing most of that cleaning. Those two have become as good a rebounding tandem as any two in the league.

He's setting picks. REAL picks. Ones that free guys up for good looks and have him rolling to the offensive glass

He continues to provide the dominant rim protection we have grown to expect
He continues to provide the elite defense we have often seen and see every night now

He's getting more involved in the offense also as our whole team takes it the rim and fixing any misses is such a deflating thing

One of my favorite things to watch is when he gets "stuck" on a wing and they thing they are gonna shake and bake his ass and take it to.. BLOCKED BY ROBINSON! I'm puffing and he's stuffing

also... this is some crazy phucking good work by this FO. Look at how hungry Mitch is playing. This guy isnt acting like someone who just got paid. He's acting like he's got something to prove

Biggest challenge will be if we make a blockbuster trade keeping this guy. He's the first thing I would want for a young rebuild. Get a PG and someone to anchor your defense.

he's gonna miss some games and we will need him healthy to do anything in the playoffs but man what a signing. I love his arc and his improvements really give me hope about a higher ceiling for him. He's a higher IQ player this year

Seeing less thinking and more doing. Mitch looked like he was playing chess at times, waiting too much for the game to come to him, instead of imposing his will on the other team. Which made him famous. Also looks like he's worked out the best frame, build, to have for hoops.

I see tremendous growth with Mitch. It's slow for sure and he still needs to add a ton of just fundamental stuff, but low and behold, the dude is actually learning and showing real dedication to his craft.

I had always wondered if things would click for Mitch. Not that he didn't show professionalism during his first few years as a Knicks player, but the level needed to really get better just wasn't there until more recently.

And we are all seeing that he is getting a play or 2 run for him at the beginning of games, GREAT sign. Shows how the trust is 2 ways between him and coaching staff and they are all putting in the work. He has a looooonnnggg way to go on the offensive side of things but the wheels are in motion.

IMHO this last offseason was his first where he really put in the work and it has paid off big time. And he is finally in NBA shape. I hope it continues.

He’s just as weird in person 4 years ago. I was shocked when he said he would be a biologist or something to that level, when I asked him what he would do if basketball wasn’t an option. All those dribbling between the legs and doing step back 3s in the gym was also weird to see a big man do. Then when the game started (pickup games) he reverts back to being a normal old school center.

But Money Mitch has arrived. I’m shocked how much he has grown. Credit to this FO for finding these gems in the draft. Eventually they will find a mid to late draft pick who turns into a star player. You can see it coming with the success they’ve had so far with grimes, IQ, sims and others. Chemistry building from top to bottom. Gotta love it.

Mitchell Robinson was drafted 36th overall in the 2nd round.
1st pick in that draft was DeAndre Ayton who plays same position.

Atyton has a lot more to offer on offense, but Robinson is the better player defensively.
We really had a great draft in 2018 picking him up in the 2nd round.
We got soo lucky Mitchell had the issues he did in his College year and then did not work out for teams leading him to drop to 2nd round.

great analysis in this thread. Mitchell does the intagibles to create opportuinities for others that does not show up in the stat sheet.
His salary is very reasonable for his production and the way it is structured to reduce each year it is probably one of the best value contracts when comparing talent to cost in the NBA.

Some interesting stuff from Ian, love Mitch spending time with Randle in offseason. Knicks young center is growing up.

Julius Randle has spent a lot of time around Mitchell Robinson over the past three-and-a-half years.

He’s been with Robinson through four training camps, dozens of road trips, hundreds of practices.

Randle’s probably spent more time with Robinson than anyone outside of his immediate family over the past 40 months.

So he has a unique perspective on the Knicks center.

And Randle’s assessment of Robinson right now supports what we’ve all seen: The 24-year-old is playing at an elite level.

"Big fella comes in with a great focus every day," Randle said earlier this week. "Starting at the beginning of the year, he came into camp in great shape. He came to Dallas, hot as hell, and spent some time with me in the summer getting work in and he just has a certain level of focus and maturity that I haven’t seen from him in years past. That he’s building off of every night.

"And I think his confidence is growing. Obviously we know what he does rebounding the ball, blocking shots. His confidence offensively, he’s growing. So he has a bright future."

The present is pretty bright for Robinson, too.

He’s currently an anchor for one of the top defenses in the NBA.

Happy to admit that I have been totally wrong about M.Robinson (so far). Wasn't onboard with the Knicks resigning him and thought the Knicks would be ok moving forward with Sims/Hart and using Mitchell on a sign and trade.

Will gladly eat crow and hope he continues on this path
