I was all over him last year for his lack of D, but aren't there situations where a shooter like EF would be useful?
For example, in the fourth tonight, there was a lineup of:
Sims, iHart, RJ, IQ and Deuce
With as cold as IQ has been, wouldn't it be useful to have EF in that lineup? We have so much defense otherwise, wouldn't a shooter be useful in that squad?

I've said it elsewhere but if Thibs has a doghouse it's just wrong. But hard to argue with the results right now.

I love Fournier. I would love to find a role for him, but I don't see it.

Things turned with McBride's defensive intensity (and Grimes as well!)

EF is a willing defender, but a poor one. He is probably staying ready if needed.

IQ's offense will come around. Hopefully he will pick some things up from JB, because if IQ had JB's savvy, you'd be talking HOF.

My only criticism, is perhaps we are peeking too soon- but that is just me being totally stupid.

You are taking out the one guy in the lineup who can kinda organize team. And he plays ferocious D.

For a guy who hadn’t been shooting well.

IMO that’s more disruptive to a rotation than anything. Cause you start to lose confidence in the players who are killing themselves for you, and especially doing so in a high performance win streak.

It’s the absolute worst time to change things up IMHO

Is there a website that shows +/- for a player, by season?

I wonder what EF’s numbers look like.

Not even at the halfway mark of the season. Rarely a season goes by where injuries doesnt force the coach to give everyone PT, at some point. If Rokas isnt traded. He will probably get minutes as well.

Here are the Knicks this year.

Obviously a lot of players on the Knicks have benefited from this winning streak with this metric.

Knicks just need to ride this win streak for as long as they can. No changes until it stops working.

NO! Keep Fournier types far away!! I don't ever want to see one dimensional soft spot up shooters who play no defense!

It’s like thibs was in the kitchen preparing a meal for 2yrs and finally found a recipe everybody likes. He lost his first recipe that took us to the 4th seed. 2 yrs later he found a special sauce that might be better than before.

7 game winning streak later (or 7 days straight of selling out his special recipe) someone comes in the kitchen and ask thibs to add some of this or some of that. Thibs had his back against the wall, staying up all night and after finally having something everyone wants, I doubt he make any significant changes now. If anything he found his base recipe and will try to perfect what we have. And the main goal now is providing a consistent taste. A consistent product. Something he can repeat successfully. So far he’s achieved that.

If it ain’t broken don’t fix it.

Is it possible that an ice cold IQ is better than a red hot Evan Fournier?

Yes

Making shots or breaking records is sexy. There’s nothing sexy about thibs. He likes it grimmy! EF game is too pretty. IQ is a dog on both ends.

We know IQ can get hot at any moment, but I would have hoped here at year 3 he would be more consistent offensively, and it seems he's actually less consistent now. You know when he gets hot its a game changer, so hopefully we see that dimension soon.

Yes

100%

IQ at least has the ability to get some hot shooting, Fournier never has hot defense.

I loathe everything about EF's game. No - he wouldn't help. He was a terrible signing from the jump.

His PER this year is 6.9. HIm bein gin the boghouse is certainly deserved, that's terrible. Even if you don't believe in the metric, it is a TERRIBLE number.

Similarly, his career PER is 13.9. He isn't good (in the NBA). The Celtics certainly don't miss him. So now he isn't a y00t, the Knicks are full of y00ts, and there simply isn't a place in the program for EF.

The frustrating thing to me is this is what everyone that hated the signing said on the day he was signed. Why? Because he wasn't much better than THJ at the time and why sign up for that again... so now we are probably going to trade him with a first round pick to get rid of him, because he has been so awful this year

I honestly think the opposing teams know that and game plan to limit IQ’s scoring.

We have plenty on the bench. Reddish and Rose are not getting any run due to the Knicks trying to keep them healthy for trades.
