We have been talking about Grimes filling the roll of 3 & D player,
but he is proving to be much more than that. His passing is very good
for someone with a fairly low usage rate, getting plenty of assists.
Likewise, he drives to the basket with speed and authority.
I think we got more than we expected, and a flat out steal at pick 25.

Agreed, he’s more, but he needs to get the 3pt part down consistently too.

His defense has made me forget Frank. And offensively he is parsecs ahead.

fantastic athlete also. Great first step, great hops and very strong. Not the longest/tallest but overall high end

He reminds me of early J Kidd athletically. Deceptive, with a strong frame and surprising end to end speed. But, as Knixkik mentioned, the three needs to go down. I'd also like to see more movement shooting from him, but that's more on Thibs to incorporate into the offense.

Knicks have 4 extra FRPs coming in the next 3-4 years (Dal/Det/Wash/Milw). They just need to keep going for BPAs and working on player development. Volume is the only way to maximize your luck. Knicks were a pick away from Maxey but I am hoping Rokus is a lucky find.

Bottom line is Mitch/Randle/RJ/Brunson are a productive blue collar group that should keep us in games for the next few years and fighting for a playoff spot. After them everyone should be a rookie deal or a pipeline player like IHart (24 years old) or if we match a MLE offer for Cam etc (he's young)

We should be drafting and developing. If we stink we stink. I think we would be fine and if a couple of these guys pop we are good.

Like Marcus Smart was a pretty ****ty offensive player for a few years but he got minutes to work through some of that stuff... would be nice to see if McBride can play NBA offense. I like Rose a lot but like who cares?

Fournier is making $18mm. The fact that he's been benched for a kid in Grimes should tell you this regime is NOTHING like old teams we have had.

What I'm saying. Overall Coaches and the FO have the right idea behind their execution we just have to realize that its a slow grind.

think of the Fizdale mess... the team is better, well coached and after 2 years and change still lacks talent (no all star no blue chip star in the waiting) but is much better. We have 4 extra FRPs coming in the next 4 years or so along with one of the best young players in EU. We are well managed and should either build a nice pipeline in the next couple years or use the assets to procure a difference making player.

Man Grimes moves so darn quick. I didn’t realize he had first step burst with ball in hands towards rim but it’s there.

This guy can pass too. And cut and everything.

Knicks have struck gold here IMHO. This kid is going to be GOOD! Like real good

Grimes a steal at 25. Reddish for KNox and the CLT unconveyed pick not.
Aggregate good move. You take opportunities and some pan out, and some don’t.

He mentioned this over the summer. He added this skill set to his tool box over the summer. I’m glad Thibs believes in him.

If grimes and deuce continue to produce wins, this FO has some work to do. Not sure how long can, drose, EF and others can sit out without being a cancer.

Grimes has been my hope all season. I know it may just be me drinking the Kool-Aid, but I see Grimes as developing into our 2nd or 3rd best player. I like him more than RJ. His defense is better than Franks, and his offense has Klay Thompson type potential. He just needs to keep growing but I think we found our starting SG for the next 7-8 years.

yeah when skinny posted "he's not that athletic" I was like you are just dead wrong.

Grimes is why I am excited about having all these extra picks. Just keep drafting these guys and developing them.

Last night was a window into why they didnt want to include this guy in a trade. They look smart right now

I admit I didn't see it coming either. The shooting, yes. Getting to the basket with speed, I had no idea. Pleasantly surprised!

We need to draft more guys like grimes. He could end up being a mikal bridges type impact role player. Imagine if we had him too? These are the types of guys we need more of. Grimes raises the ceiling to this team no doubt. And these guys are available in the middle of the first round every year.

Just looked at an old DX scouting report on Grimes and, believe or not, Grimes ability to get in the paint using deceptive quickness and strength was considered more of a positive than his shooting. Shooting was considered his swing skill.

Glimmer of hope w grimes. If he can be consistent with his play we have a player. That’s been a huge prob w Knicks— inconsistency. If you’re top dogs play a good game 1/2–1/3 then your record says that.On the floor we have an excellent defender from the wing.
