You are right that RJ could do better but he at least usually gets a shot off, which leads to Kobe assist when he misses (assists where a teammate gets the offensive rebound and scores in the paint). Randle turns the ball over half the time and it usually leads to a bucket the other way. The less Randle does on offense the better. He needs to focus on rebounding, defense, hitting open threes, and cutting to the basket. He should limit his iso plays to just 3-5 times a game.

There was a video pointing out that even a lot of RJs missed layups are good bc he creates so much attention from the defense that a lot of offensive rebounds and put backs are made. I agree but with that said…. He needs to finish more consistently. I can live with inconsistent 3 point shooting. Lay-ups need to be made though. It’s good his 2 point% has gotten a lot better at least. He’s coming back around.

Both these guys, Randle and RJ are bad finishers. nothing you can do about it. Randle just chucks the ball up when he gets close to the rim

I’ve always thought Randle was pretty good around rim, RJ in his own world there

In my pea brain I don't see this roster as underachieving. We have no "Stars", RJ is true 22 year old, Brunson is in his first NBA leadership starting role and bound to have some growth, Randle is still our best player which is a problem, and Mitch is also still developing. Fan base is frustrated. I am frustrated but to me Johnny Bryant is the heir apparent and unless he has a better plan and Thibs is not listening to his associate head coach then what is the magic formula? Mark Jackson? Out of work coaches visit other teams and attend clinics to stay sharp. Often they become assistants. Mark Jax never did that. His personality needed evolving and was loathed in the GSW organization. He is rooted in California. I know he did a good job in GSW but he also had the foundation of what was to be a great dynasty. Would he have that here in NY? Has he been interviewing at all the last few years?
If MDA goes anywhere he likes joins Morey and Harden in Philly for a stupid amount of money. I think he is a consultant to the Thunder organization for now. He is keeping his head in the game.
Are the great ones stubborn then win or win, then get stubborn? Thibs has some good success in his resume and some not so good.

RJ FT% so far doing very well over 80%!
His interior passing in the lane is also improving.
He is guarding still elite talent and sometimes the help does not execute leaving him looking bad. it happens.
