If the Knicks trade both Toppin & Randle in rumored 3-way trade. Cam is already a better shooter than both and with today’s small ball NBA he should have no issue defending. A really young guy who is still filling out his body.

Most likely Obi to Utah and Randle to Lakers; Westbrook, Mitchell, others, picks also involved

The trade that works out $ wise which cannot go through till 9/6 is:

Knicks get:
Mitchell
Protected #1 from Lakers

Utah gets:
Toppin
Quickly
Westbrook
4 protected #1s

Lakers get:
Randle
Clarkson
Beverly

I don’t dislike this like the standard scenarios, but I don’t see the Knicks trading Obi *and* Randle. Unless the Knicks brain trust shares the love for Cam.

I was/am hoping Obi and Cam could share the 4 spot if Randle is moved as they both offer different skill sets and hopefully one of them could develop and earn significant minutes. I believe the odds are better that either Obi or Cam progresses vs hoping Randle becomes selfless and efficient next season.

No thank you for the trade idea .. the 2nd season tandem of Quickley & Obi performance reminds me of the young Stocton & Malone show.
Plus the 6.7 Cam has been inconsistent on offense/defense at the 3 spot the past 3 seasons.
The 6.8 Randle has been a teams poor PF, except in the Covid 2021 season.

I am a little confused. Cam at the 4? He is a 3 that can slide to the 2 when need be. What kind of rebounds are we expecting from Cam at the 4 spot? We would be beaten badly by the other team with offensive boards.

I don’t see Knicks trading Obi or Grimes in a Spida trade. They will move IQ due to his size not complimenting Brunson and Spida. They will move Reddish as well as probably McBride.

They are looking for a front court rotation of
Mitch/Hart
Obi/Sims
When you look at skill sets they compliment each other. As long as Obi’s 3pt shot continues to come along.

I've never thought about Sims and Hart playing together. Nice.

I was thinking about Sims at the 4 also. I think that is a good idea pairing him with Hart.

I would feel more comfortable with RJ playing the 4. You can't count on Cam for anything next year, doing so is mismanagement of the highest order.

Yeah, the only use I can see for Can now is being salary filler in a trade. I hope he proves me wrong, because an improved Cam would go a long way in addressing this roster's weaknesses.

Yup, Hart roaming the perimeter gives Sims enough space to operate in the paint.

If Obi is traded pehraps Cam if the matchups are there gets some time there.
We got a long way to go before the roster is set. I suspect trade activity commences after labor day.

After September 6, Utah can trade the players acquired in the Timberwolves trade.

The way things look .. the 6.8 Cam Reddish maybe the best talented player on the Knicks roster to put at the Starter SF (3) spot.
And 6.6 RJ Barrett's young raw performance need to be the backup SF covering the 3 spot.

The Knicks having three dynamic combo-guards to start the upcoming season in Brunson, Rose, and Quickley in the rotation will give the Knicks a chance to play .500 b.ball.
Plus, the Knicks FO are in pursuit of adding a 4th combo-guard super-star Donovan Mitchell to the team.

The Knicks 4 spot has been empty since the Knicks vs Hawks playoff series, where PF Randle average 36 minutes a game in the series being the Knicks PG. When the Knicks needed a PF to help center Noel vs Clint Capela & Collins in the paint.
The Knicks not giving 6.9 Obi Toppin 24 to 28 minutes per game had the Knicks 4 spot empty throughout last season. Taj Gibson were the Knicks best experience PF on the roster, which the coach played at the center position only.

Next season ....
The Knicks Back-Court guards (1 & 2 spot) will Grade a B+
The Knicks forward position (3 & 4 spot) may Grade a C- minus or less
The Knicks Center position will Grade a B+

We are set at PF. There is not enough minutes. Same for Center position. Reddish can backup RJ at SF. To me that's not even a thing. Now shooting guard is a while other animal and should (will) be a major point of discussion this season. I think Grimes should start. But I know that Fournier will, regardless

I’m 1000% with you on this. It’s really starting to look like we need to go with a smaller spacing and pacing lineup:

PG: Brunson
SG: Grimes/IQ
SF: RJ
PF: Reddish
C: Mitch

Obi CANNOT SHOOT. Randle is a ball hog black hole on offense whose shooting isn’t good enough to justify his crap. Go young, fast and athletic

How about Cam Reddish at the 4..
