I don’t remember anything from Melo’s time here that sticks out like what Randle did with the video assistant, the throwing the ball after that great win and walking off the court.
I want to give Randle the chance to come back this next season with a better attitude- and whatever the stats, I’ll be happy if he works in a positive direction. Stats and wins matter less to me. And I don’t think we’re paying Randle at the same level % wise as we did Melo- I could be wrong, I’d have to look up the numbers to be sure.
Melo and Randle are both imperfect. My frustration would be locking into mediocrity vs. finding a path to build a winner, which might involve more losing.
I think we’re at a better place today with Randle than we maybe ever were with Melo.
There is stability at the FO & coaching positions, finally.
The FO is building assets, acquiring draft picks, making some smart moves and maybe a stinker or two that have yet to sink the franchise.
I will want Randle gone next year if the pouting continues, the constant complaining to the refs, the failure to move the ball like the ball moves when he is off the court. I think that is fair.
But I probably also wanted Melo gone, certainly would have preferred him leaving before signing the extension with us in 2014. We weren’t going anywhere.
