I know a lot of you guys have deeper knowledge of younger players than me. From all I’ve seen, this kid looks like the real deal. Criticisms are that his shot is good enough that he often settles for easy shots instead of driving with his athleticism. But otherwise, I’ve seen things like a 49” vertical (compare with Michael Jordan at 48”). There’s a lot of hype and not a lot of tape, but I think I am a buyer.

This summary brings a lot of sources together:

https://theknickswall.com/knicks-2022-draft-profiles-shaedon-sharpe-biggest-home-run-swing/

What do you think? If we don’t win the lottery, do we have the ability to trade into the top 5 to get this guy? I have him above Ivey on my board.

He's intriguing but I just don't see the price of moving from #11 to say #5 as practical. If you found a willing team the price would be exorbitant. If he fell to 11 on the other hand....

Yeah, it's a pipe dream at this point. But I've seen some guys mock Mathurin in our range. A tier below, but he's an athletic guy who can help.

After the top 6 or so, there seems to be a group different sites have floating around the next dozenish spots. No doubt another Obi or Halliburton will fall a bit as well. Sharpe would seem unlikely to, although maybe he should as he never played a college game.

honestly the move is to trade Randle to Portland for their pick, use that on Sharpe, use our pick on Tari Eason, resign Mitch, waive Bledsoe (he's not guaranteed) and let Thibs coach them up.

Yeah, I don't the player grades switch that much through the lower end of the lottery. They should be fine.

Same. I'm on the Dyson Daniels train at 11 but Eason is just as intriguing.

If Knicks going to unload Randle and/or lose MitchRob, your frontline becomes weaker so we need to draft a frontline player that can help us on the boards, protecting the paint and able to score at will. Right now we have a plethora of small forwards and guards which is good. I dont think we need to add another. One of the key areas we need to ensure is our bread and butter and strength is wing defenders. We need to ensure we have players that can easliy switched off screens and able to defend the perimeter. This league has evolved around shooting 3's and tons of screening. So far, RJ, Grimes and Reddish can do it.. Fournier sucks! Either get another bonifide wing defender in the draft or another Power Forward like Jeremy Sochan from Baylor who would fit nice especially on the defensive end and on the boards.

I wouldn’t replace any front court player specifically through the draft, I think there are plenty of frontline players available in free agency for the MLE, plus we have Toppin, Noel, Sims and Gibson. I like my big guys older - after they hit their man strength. Even the most polished big men out of college get tossed around until they get the strength to push back. Worst case, you chase down a Kofi Cockburn to fill out that rotation with size.

If u believe the guy is the next kobi NO price is too exorbitant! Only a few nba players win championships. If u think he’s one. Give up whatever right?

look at how IQ is turning out, Grimes, Obi, McBride, Sims.. these guys are ready to play and bring it on both ends. I would love to see a long athletic team that can bomb away and smother you

I think I would pick him #1 overall if we won the lottery. If this kid works out for top teams, I don't see him slipping.

I haven't seen him play, but theres too much buzz going around. So he will not slip. He's probably moving up.

a couple bad workouts or a turned ankle (or both) vs. a couple home run workouts could be the difference between going top 3 or somewhere 8-15

Everyone knows his physical profile is special... where are his skills, does he love the game, how hard is he going to work, etc etc

Issue is that via mirror test Portland dosent answer the phone. You’d have to throw 2 future firsts for Portland to consider this. You’d have to throw in Dallas pick, our pick in 2024, and prolly Detroit 2Nd round to get this done.

Thing that makes me hesitant is that ranking isn’t everything. Man like Hardy was projected top 5 coming into season and fell way off. Quentin grimes was top 3-5 for his draft too and had to change schools and still ended up being a teach in late first round.
