I was thinking how Grimes really changes things. Combine that with RJ's ascent and our current roster. We really lack playmaking. But we have some good wings who play both ends and can really shoot it. Mitch is a constant lob threat. Simmon's drive and dish game would look pretty good with guys like RJ/IQ/Grimes/Reddish/McBride getting after it on both ends and can really score in bunches.

If the deal was reasonable in terms of other players and draft compensation would you consider this? Not even so much for this year but moving forward.

Simmons is 24. We have a bunch of good athletic 2 way guys on the perimeter in RJ/IQ/Grimes/Reddish/McBride
We have good rim protectors in Mitch/Noel and Taj/Sims have a nice place.

Also that defense would sick.

That’s fine but this fan base will turn on Simmons faster than they did Randle. Talk about a mentally weak player. He legit won’t return to his team because he bombed in the playoffs.

that is a really odd take on why he's not playing.

He's got some warts. I'm not looking to fix those if I trade for him, rather focus on what he did right in PHili.... drive, dish, defend. I think those things would make him pretty popular pretty fast

At first, I wasn’t a fan of this idea but now I am good with it. He’ll find RJ in good spots. The problem is that we would need bigs that can shoot because that’s going to be rough for Ben to locate open men. Sabonis maybe?

Odd take? It’s well known that He completely shut down after not taking that layup against the hawks and being called out for it by Embiid, doc, fans etc. that was the end. There was no coming back from that. How long do you think something like that will take in the garden ?

On defense…adding Simmons would be great. In the regular season, we would be on par with some of the top defensive teams. But if Ben and Mitch or Noel or taj are on the floor together, it’s like playing 3 on 5. Teams will play zone or double the hot player. It will be too easy to guard us. But if u like low scoring games, that’s what u will get. Will need to surround Ben with shooters or scorers.

The halfcourt might suffer but the team would get a boost in transition, where Ben is one of the biggest threats in the league. Ideally, I'd move Ben to center and trade one of Noel/MitchRob.

Say what we say about RJ and Julius missing FTs but Ben Simmons shoots FTs just as bad as SHAQ did. .597% from FT and only career .147% from 3?!?

A soft ass player who you can't play during the 4th because he can't shoot, is scared to shoot and can't hit FTs?

Heck no.

Exactly. All to improve a little on defense. Defense isn’t the issue. We held a good team to 95 pts last night and lost.

Randle doesn’t help Sixers at all, they will turn down the offer.

I know. But if a deal became available I'd say take it. Ben's talent would lift the team's ceiling.

Do you really want me to pull up Randle's playoff stats from last year?

Randle actually helps them become unstoppable contenders because a PF/C duo of Joel Embiid and Julius Randle would bully the East.

How does having another player that doesn’t shoot outside of the paint or make free throws lift the team’s ceiling. If we start Mitch, that means 2 guys on the floor who can’t shoot from anywhere. How do you expect Barrett to be able to drive to the lane to do what he does best? You surround Barrett with Simmons and Mitch, you might as well stick a fork in him right now. It’s 2022 in the nba and you want a lineup filled with guys who can’t shoot threes and can’t shoot free throws ??? Team building 101 is focus on guys who can make shots from multiple spots on the floor.

Yeah...about Mitch....

If the plan is Myles Turner or KAT and starting Ben at PF than maybe it can work. But there’s only room in the lineup for 1 elite defender that can’t shoot at a time at the most.

So why would we help the sixers get better while we get worse trading for the point shaving prima donna Simmons?
