I think this is good news. It's very low risk, potentially high reward.

According to the article, they used the rest of the MLE ($1.3 mil) to sign him to a one year contract. If they were going to use the MLE, I would have preferred a 2 year deal with a team option on the 3rd year so that we could have his Bird rights if things worked out well. Maybe he wasn't willing to sign that long a deal, though.

Unless TT is being shopped I still don't know why Robinson was added.

I have no idea where this guy fits. If this takes one second of play away from ariza , it was a dumb move. eddie robinson has had flashes, but he also has been a pain in the arse.

IT could be trying to create a high energy bench mob, If he impresses I think it will eat into Penny's minutes, Crawford would probably spend more time at the 1 spelling for Marbury, more so when H20 comes back.

Maybe, but if Houston comes back who is going to go be put on the IL?

It seems like a precursor to another move at the 2 or 3. Clearly overcrowded there w/ salary and talent. But if it's Timmy we want to move, we're going to need to give him plenty of run to build up his trade value. And that's assuming he plays well enough for his value to increase, in which case, we may be reluctant to part with him. He is, despite all of his flaws, our most proven SF. Interesting.

the only thing i can think about is he's trying to amass as many young athletic players as possible to make a move down the road.

if, IF, erob plays well, that's another chip at the break at 1.3mil.

ERob is young and when he's healthy he's an all around good player. Good defender too I might add. Granted I havent seen him much since he was with Cha but thats still me lasting impression.

You know this roster is still in flux. I have no idea what it means for Penny, TT or anyone else.

I'm not worried about Ariza. He's playing because he earned his minutes, not because he's getting paid like Eisley or Anderson.

Last year I watched Memphis win with a 10 man rotation of long athletic players.

When Robinson, who was unhappy with his limited role in Chicago, improves his conditioning, he'll be fighting for minutes with Tim Thomas, Penny Hardaway and rookie Trevor Ariza.

"He's not going to take away from Trevor," Knicks coach Lenny Wilkens said. "Trevor is an outstanding young man and I love what he does."

-thats a quote from Lenny
I know its weird to see the DN actually quote a credible source

Isiah's approach is that when a talented player with good upside becomes available, you pursue him. It's simple. He took that approach with Griffin, DerMarr, Jamal, E-Rob, Ariza; sometimes it will pay off and sometimes it won't. It's a low-risk, potentially high reward approach

This definitely has something to do with TT either right now or down the road. Remember that his deal will be up soon so he will be tradeable. Maybe when Isiah traded for him, he saw Tim Thomas as his future starting Small Forward, but with Ariza's improvement and great talent, TT will be traded soon, either this season or in the offseason. Bringing Robinson may be very questionable right now, but if things work out and he loves NY, he will become a very productive backup once TT is traded and Ariza starts. And who knows? Maybe TT brings us the young center the Knicks so much need...

Probably sleeping. He's rich and his job is to play basketball.

That's what I would be doing.

I didn't want to jump on this, but I can't resist. Here is the deal, Isiah is trying to find replacement for Penny. His contract is about to expire, and he will try his best to trade him by mid-season. I don't like that move, but it is a worthy strategy. Timmy may also be moved, specially with Ariza playing as well as he is. If Isiah decides to move Penny and Timmy, we will have vacancies to fill. Erod is very affordable and can play the 2 or the three. Frankly, I want to hold on to both Timmy and Penny, but in the same token, I am also aware of our weaknesses. We need a Center, and a productive SF/PF.

IMO, as Isiah, I would move Kurt and Naser for now for a big man like Curry. With the absence of those two, Sweetney would have been promoted to the starting 4, and JYD would have back him up. Curry would have been our starting 5 with Vinny backing him.

Marb, Crawf, Timmy, Sweet, Curry
Crawf, Penny, Ariza, JYD, Vinny
Crawf, Ariza, JYD, Sweet, Curry
Marb, Robinson, TT, JYD, Curry At crunch time. If TT is not performing, replace him with Penny.

As for MOochie, we can either put him on IR or buy him out. Frankly, I much rather have Penny running the point for Marburry.

Well its official, just saw it on espnews, Knicks and Eddie Robinson agree to 1 year deal...at first i was against it cause i thought it would take away from Ariza'a playing time but the way he's played theres no way this guy will take Ariza's minutes and hearing Lenny say that today made me feel better
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers!!!

I dont think there is a lot of planning regarding this move. Remember Isiah hasnt been here a year yet. He's still in the phase of gathering players that fit a certain mold, and thats long and athletic. I dont think anyone thought Ariza would be as good as he is, this fast, but he's part of that picture. Crawford, Ariza, ERob, TT.. all have a speed game. Even Nazr has good athleticism and gets out on the break.

Right now he's just getting guys... I still dont think he has a real idea who he wants to keep. Maybe ERob is nothing more than a potential throw in come Feb, maybe's he's a cushion if ISiah has to use TT in a deal.
