I’d like to see

We don’t really have a three man to take Barrett’s spot but giving Grimes a 3o minute run wouod be interesting.

Also I’m more than willing to give McBride sins or Toppin 30 minute game play — perhaps 1 player at a time. Give a player 2-3 games with starter minutes. See what they can do for the team

How about they start at 10 mins?

I rather Grimes play with the bench. Playing with Randle seems like a death sentence for anyone in the starting lineup. Just give him 15 minutes a game without a quick benching for 1 mistake. Every time he played he has contributed. The exception being played with the starters.

There is a point in every game where the starters give a up huge run. Grimes did not help but it's been a pattern the whole season so I put more blame on the normal starters.

One game. But, yeah, I'm not crazy on the idea of force feeding 30 mins a night. He needs to show a helluva lot more

I understand that. My point was in response to your point. My point is that since giving up huge leads is common practice for the starters maybe its not the fault of the new guy but of the people who always gives up huge leads. Every time Grimes play with the bench he is always positively contributing. When he played with the starters he did not. I think its easy to see where the real problem is.

Cam you defend your stance with something other than "see what they can do"? You know, Pro and con to it, what are you seeing in their play that justifies this gracious opportunity?
Is winning alone the quantifying measure or what else would you look for?

seems that thibs even last year gave many players opportunity to play and shine. In the end that process produced very good results and earned him COY.
I'd roll with that. It think in time you might get your wish but not for reasons you presented because you did not really present any.

Against the Sun's who were on a 15 winning streak with arguably the best backcourt in the NBA. And they went on a run with him in there? How about some context

I have my suspicions that Randle is the main problem. For 2 years the only player who consistently played well with him was Reggie. Reggie only wants to catch and shoot. So he was just fine with Randle dominating the ball and doing everything on offense. RJ's ability to play well rests on his ability to hit shots because with ISO Randle he is relegated to mostly a spot up shooter. The bad thing is shooting is not his strength.

ER and Kemba both did not magically forget how to play offense over the span of a summer. Their defense can be blamed on them. Last year on the Celtics they were both efficient whenever they played with each other on offense. During games when the bench was playing well and brought us back into the game what happen? Randle is subbed in for Obi at the end of the game and then the team sucks again and we lose the game. We usually blame the bench being fatigued but it always happens when Randle subs back in. I can't say without 100% certainty because Randle is never injured. This is why like 10 games ago I was saying in the game threads I want to see the starters play 2 games without Randle to come to a final conclusion.

I think younger or less seasoned player will defer to Randle way too much, and they become less affective. Without Randle, like the 2nd unit, there’s no pecking order. Play hard and score. But that SL needs a player better than Randle. CP3 or a true floor general PG would do wonders for Randle and the roll players. Someone Randle will naturally defer to. Right now Randle is frustrated and starting to go into bully mode. I was hoping Kemba would be that PG vet who will take the ball out of Randles hands. But he’s in the dog house. Randle needs vets around him to succeed. But when he’s the lone star, it’s too much weight for him to handle. He can’t be his normal high emotion self. But that’s what he needs to do if he’s playing bully ball. We go as far as Randle takes us, until we make a trade for another star. Randle even said, we not like the nets…or lakers with top 10 nba starters. That’s why he signed a star friendly contract. To bring on another star player. Just need to be careful which star player we add will develop chemistry with Randle. He’s not easy to build around….in my opinion, because I think he’s a tweener at PF and lacks flexibility to affectively play more than 1 position. Too small at center and too slow against most SF…..Which available star fits with Randle? I don’t think that player is available. To me cp3 can make Randle an all star if he was available.

Grimes will at least bring D back into our starting backcourt. That alone should win us some games. He is the closest to Bullock we have on the roster with probably even better D than Bullock

Reggie was a SF. RJ is a SF. RJ defense is good.
I’d like to see Grimes play more in the Second unit before promoting him to starter.

He is actually getting minutes and contributing. I think we will be seeing more of him as the season progresses regardless of starting.

Reggie was and is a good player. We wanted him back but from what I recall we asked him to wait and he had a good offer from clips. Now we hear rumblings Thibs is not happy with what our FO gave him this year?
The things that Bullock was good at, and made Jimmy Butler a star was execution. EF does not do this well and if your not moving well off the ball the options shrink and its one of the contributors to why Randle looks bad this season. Not saying its just EF. I believe Kemba had issues there and on defense too. Mitch PNR with him lumbering is also an issue. Crisp picks matter. These are detail that ccontribute to winning.
RJ has been sick a few weeks we read with a bug. It happes. Lets see if he crawls out of his rut.
Noel is tender and if injured chronially, his play too is compromised. It all adds up.
Reading also that EF was a bit sick also.

The NY post had us at 43 wins. If you look at the predictions by most of you were higher. Some 55 games and more. I was a t47 myself and perhaps pulled by the enthusiasm/fandom.

Grimes has to show more to earn more. He is getting some time. Perhaps we’ll see Fournier need a game or two to rest an injury and he’ll get a shot?

We need to start looking for trade options for Fournier. Preferably a passing pg that plays decent defense. Need to see if we can land Simmons first which is very doubtful. The other a straight up deal for EF for Rubio. Don’t know if Cleveland would go for it. But worth the shot since Cavs have guards.
What do we think Grimes can do with Fourniers 30 minutes?
