Worst game of year for Julius yesterday. Taking 10 of 11 shots at 6-8 260

No

I like Julius shooting 3-5 threes and taking 10-12 more without fading away and in the flow(inside two)

Focus on grabbing 12-15 rebounds and making nice passes. He can do it--hes just moved away from disciplined play.

Only take a three if wide open and be willing to pass up a shot for a better one. DONT SETTLE last night and throughout the season--he has settled

When Julius plays well we win

We need to cut down on Julius's usage rate. He isn't making anyone better.

From an old school post player who doesn’t shoot threes, in a year Julius has become a bit “too modern” and has started to rely perhaps little too much on a “easier” shot from outside instead of fighting under the rim.

These words keep popping into my head.

‘ “Leon took the job and not too [much later] Wes took the job with him,” the 26-year-old Randle said. “And Wes called me. He’s like, ‘Yo, what do you need to be an All-Star? What do you need to lead this team?’ One of the things I told him, ‘I really need a coach to hold me accountable, I need a coach to push me.’ ”

Where’d this guy go

anyone remember the preseason game where he hit the turn around at the buzzer to win the game? I thought, wow, he is that into the game, he is at all star level focus and execution.

what the f happened? Dude looks completely lost, dejected, completely overwhelmed.

I remember Larry Johnson doing the same thing in the late 90’s but he at least had an excuse - he had a bad back and could no longer post up the way he used to

Julius is a big guy
Bigger stronger faster. I believe in that
Now he’s just got to play smarter
He was so smart during the year last year
He’s got it within himself to bring that player out again.

same place your patience went...

What's interesting is his overall shot selection is better than last year. He's taking more shots at the rim, slightly more 3s and less mid range shots (although all #s are modest changes). Main thing is he's just not hitting.

He works to hard to score. Those fall away iso shots should be reserved for when the offense breaks down and thats all that's left or its a final shot and you call an iso

You sir are correct, my patience is wearing some. I was watching the last game at my girlfriends house, we were down by 1 at the half. At the beginning of the third I gave her the script. I said now watch, the starters will come out with low energy and give up a lead. At around 4 min the bench will start to sub in and change the momentum of the game. They will start to chip away at the lead, then at around 4 min in the 4th Q, some starters will sub in because the bench is gassed and we will lose the game.

And then it happened exactly like that so yes I am frustrated as a fan and I would like to see progress. We saw ball movement and more p-n-r against the Pacers, and then poof it was gone the next game. Our starters are slow and don’t look like they like playing together.

He does have some issues that don't seem to be getting better:

1. Bad court awareness...dribbles into double teams and usually gets stripped from the back side.
2. Slows down the pace and continuity...looks like he's trying to be like LeBron to get attentions ( I hope not )
3. Too sloppy with the ball...too many unforced turnovers.
4. Situational play is lacking...his play is not consistent in pressure situations.

On balance he's doing more harm then good.

He'll be okay. It isn't uncommon for good players to have rough starts to the season.

except he looked amazing in preseason. Now he's worse!!

This isn't a slow start. This is something inside his head. The pressure, the crowd at MSG. Opposing teams now gunning for him.

he is definitely not playing well at the moment. too sticky. too many fall aways. too many jab steps. then it seems sometime in the 4th he snaps out of that and overcompensates and plays with more pace but out of control.

Personally, i think this will find a way to get righted. If i were guessing it's that last year and in the very beginning of this he had a two man game going that was synergistic. Last year was Bullocks and the beginning of this was Evan (who is also in a rut).

and personally i don't believe this "read the game" crap and taking the shots D gives you -- when it comes to Julius. Yes i believe it as a general matter, but for Julius my attitude is the opponent has to read Julius. The man is stout. Yet many opponents will defend him with a guard and he doesn't abuse the situation.

I'm not buying that last season was a fluke or that Randle is somehow now scared to play infront of crowds. That just doesn't make sense to me. Flukes are a string of games here and there (like Linsanity or Jerome James in the 2005 playoffs), not a whole season. And he's been playing infront of crowds his entire career. I think it's a combination of a shooting slump, trying to fit in with Kemba and Fournier and likely outside distractions (new baby?) in his life. But I think Randle will be fine and figure it out. He works too hard not to snap out of this.

I wish it was just that but Atlanta also showed how to defend him and to counter that Kemba and Fournier was supposed to bring enough scoring to punish the defenses when they did that. They haven’t and just like any system failures one one part usually lead to failures on the other.

Preseason has never been a good barometer for ppls performances. And you could be right but at the end of the day if he’s the guy we know he is he’ll rise above it

This is what Randle has been most of his career except last season. That’s why I wanted to trade him last summer and why I was at least initially against locking him up long term not until after this season

Fournier’s contract right now is by far the worst on our roster. We can live and win with Randle at 75% of what he was last season
