All during the game with Orlando the Knicks were allowed to shoot the 3 and no one was hitting. Thibs allowed JR to continue to force up shots, (get him out of the game). Our defense stunk and Thibs should have pulled those not defending out of the game.Quickly was given the green light to shoot when ever he had the ball and he threw up brick. To put it all in prospective Thibs did not do a good job in controlling the game. We may need this game down the line. Every game counts. We threw this game away. Now the message is out that any team that plays the zone defense on the Knicks they have a good chance to when. and so far Walker is a bust!! I know he can do better or he may show up on the trading block. Thibs got out coached

Papabear— we played bad in the 4 th Q— that was it. That team has some athletic force and length. Cole Anthony looked fantastic//hard to guard. Terrance Ross was like a Jordan player in the 4. Give the other team credit on this one. They are played harder— they deserve the win.

When u over rely on the 3 you can die with the 3.

I think when Grimes and McBride naturally take over rotational spots and Noel is adjusted/-our defense will move up a notch. This team will be at its peak when our best collective defenders are out there. Kemba Walker And IQ are gonna be casualties

Yep, too many chuckers that game.

Also, Nerlens and Grimes would have made a difference. Obviously Nerlens is hurt, so other guys have to pick up the defensive intensity.

Looks like this team will go as far as JR takes them. I thought and still think, Kemba / EF can help close out games. But since they are new and this is JR's team, it will take them (Kemba and EF) time to recognize when to turn it up and how to get the ball out of JR's hands. Same with JR, he needs to recognize when he doesn't have it going and how to shift the offense to someone who does or can carry the team. I rather lose early to a bad team, than to lose late to this same team, while heading into the playoffs. But If JR is our leader and he's clanking bricks, then the others will follow his lead. Vs pulling the team together and reminding them to pass the ball around, until we get a better shot.

I've said this before, don't let the free agents we added, or success from last year set your expectations about this team. This team is still the same as last year, as far as we depend on JR to have a good game. I'm waiting on the day when the current knicks team can win a game, when JR is having a bad game. That means JR needs to adjust and Thibs need to coach his high minute players (JR and RJ). How does thibs handle his star players, when they are having a bad game? I believe Thibs expects them to shoot their way out of it, and that can backfire.

Win or lose, I want to see how this team reacts to a lost. Does this start a downward spiral of loses, or did that lost Orlando wake us up, and starts a new winning streak?

We shall see!

Right. First off, you lost me at second Knicks game.

Take JR out of the game. Right. Who's going to score? RJ was busy posing his way to 1-7 from three, Fournier wasn't hitting and Burks couldn't find the ocean.
Our defense did stink. What was Thibs supposed to do. Stop the game and run defensive drills to stop the Orlando layup line?

Hmmmm... COTY was so last year, wasn't it?

OK trying to be funny I think you knew I meant the second game with Orlando. No one on our team was scoring but Orlando was dropping uncontested 3 pointers. You can't play defense half of the game and then go out to lunch. Thibs let them do almost what they wanted to do. I think that the east can be very tight when it comes to making the play-offs. Games we should win we need to win. We need to do something about that zone defense against us. We seemed lost.

There were a lot of weaknesses that showed in that game.

Free throw shooting was atrocious.

The reliance on ok 3s without pressuring the defense will be an issue all season.

Bamba’s size in the paint really neutralized Fournier and anyone attacking the paint.

Without Robinson on the Court, the defense fell apart. The guards are not staying in front of their man.

The starting 5 looks the best when they all are gonna get 15 points each. Fournier and Randle both seemed to be forcing shots.

Truth is that Cole Anthony had a hell of a game and we couldn’t stop him. Terrence Ross looked unbelievable — couldn’t miss — NBA Jam on Fire for the 4th Quarter.

Unfortunate Flagrant 1 created a point differential that was hard to overcome.

Orlando will have growing pains, but they look like they will have some real upside with those guys.

Worst part is that the Knicks failed to step on their throat - they took bad shots and missed the easy ones allowing the Magic to get back in the game. I’ll call it a poor shooting night, but they forgot about those extra passes.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Not a big deal. It's one loss.

Why is Thibs name in the title? He lost us the game? Na. Imo he won us a culture.

Lots of teams wish they were 2-1 right now. 3-0 preseason? 2-1 right now? Maaaannnn Thibs has these kids wanting to WIN AGAIN.

If we don’t play defense, there are at least 7 teams as talented or more talented then us. If we don’t give effort, then it’s a coin toss. We don’t have that luxury to not show up. Hopefully, lesson learned.

100% correct and good point about the ball movement. It’s just game 3 but you don’t want to lose ANY home games +6 going into the 4. Your win probability was like 98% and we didn’t hold it

+1
And it's one loss when we just handed them their heads in the previous game. So we suck and that must make Orlando world beaters now.

When we have three starting level players who don't hit threes, we in trouble.
So Thibs just needs to play better defense and hit his threes. Problem solved.

This thread didn't age well.

If anything Thibs just beat Philly for the 1st time in forever and kept them under 100 points due to awesome team defense.

Thibs is 3-1 this year. Put some respect on his name.

I still don't know how people who watch professional sports believe all wins are preventable.

Human beings play sports. Human beings are gonna suck sometime. THAT's as much a part of professional sports as a ball and a clock are.

The imperfection IS the point of it all.

It why the Giants beat the Pats ... twice.

For all the moaning we do when the Knicks lose, we somehow forget there is a fanbase who aren't given the Knicks credit, but like on opening nights bemoaning the better team lost because Tatum had such an historically awful shooting game.

In a zero sum game.

GOOD pro basketball teams lost 2 games for every 3 they win.

And NOBODY is going to stop bad teams from beating good teams. Ever.

The Atlanta Braves, the worst teams to qualify for the MLB postseason is 1-0 in the world series.

Its not that this is a futile gesture, it's a rejection of what a game is.

It's not supposed to be a coronation.

In order to go to the next level in this league you must keep your foot on the opponents neck and don't let up. And that's with coaching and playing. That is every game 4 quarters. We should have never lost that second game with Orlando. We took our foot off their neck and I don't care how poor we were shooting. Playing defense you don't need to shoot just be focus play 4 quarters.

Knicks are not 48 min team yet... not even close.
Not many teams are if any.
Without loses no mental strength can be developed... But no worries it will be enough loses to learn for this group.
It is not about the loss itself but about how team responded to the loss in next games. So far so good. :)
