Gives Pelicans more than enough free reign to retain Lonzo and Hart. Really good trade for Pels and Grizz get back decent compensation. Win win for both sides I think

Lonzo of the ball?
Lowry off the ball?
This done to pair them or with another?
Read Lowrey is about the money. The all about the money but few are blatant as he was.

I think the Grizz did not get back enough. They took both bad contracts and gave up an upgrade at center. All they get is to move up 7 spots in round 1 and they get an end of the round 1st rounder next year. The second round is a crap shoot so moving up to 40 from 51 means nothing there. If the Grizz got to keep their original 1st round this year I would understand.

Bledsoe's deal is partially guaranteed for final year, so essentially they took back an expiring deal. Adam's contract is bad but he is serviceable enough to play the 5. I think the Grizz were probably targeting someone.

Yeah, if the Lowry rumors are true, then it's unlikely Lonzo is coming back. Hart might, but I got to think he's gone as well. Lowrey, even on a one or two year deal, at $20-$25 would eat up too much cap if Lonzo get a deal at the $20M+ range. They are more of a threat to force a sign and trade tho.

It think it signals they make a move for Lowrey from what I read.
Can’t count Hornets to make it a set of Balls. They I believe have the LiAngelo coming in for summer league. Rumor is JOrdan adopts them.

Kind of a funky trade

But certainly a mid level bomb to start the action

I think this offseason will be pretty much like last offseason for us- outbidded or pipped at the post for all our potential big moves, and we end up making a few marginal/temporary fix things.

Don't see us trading up in the draft now (if the Kings were giving up their pick cheaply, the Griz would have gone for that rather than this costly pelicans deal. Lowry likely to either Miami or Pelicans. Lonzo to either the Bulls or staying with the pelicans. Cp3 likely staying with the suns.

Probably we'll end up taking on DJ Augustin and a couple of other low key moves!

If it weren't for their drafting record I'd say it looks poor for the Griz (and bad in a way for the pelicans in the sense that they gave Adams that contract for no good reason), but if they're so sure of a player they're paying that price to move up, they must be good-wonder who it turns out to be?

I think you are looking at it wrong. This move signals Lowry is off the market but Hart and Ball are likely being released with no safety net. CHA would need to release Monk and likely Graham to sign Lonzo, CHI would need to renounce Lauri and Thad Young.

Since Knicks, SAS, and OKC are only teams with easy cap space, ideally the FA market gets flooded by guys released without cap holds. That creates the best situation for the Knicks to squeeze value contracts.

Completely agree. This is a good thing for the Knicks. Not sure why people assume Lowry wants to go to New Orleans though. Who wants to play there ? Harder conference to compete in, players not on his timeline, not a great market or place to play.

I think they're fine with Lauri leaving and Lauri definitely wants to move on. Thad? He's a solid bet, but I don't think view him as a keeper. I'm surprised he hasn't retired already.
