THink outside the box, or at least the current roster. Remember, you still have it bad for Olynck?

I think u go with what worked and improve where you can.

My hope is R J Barret can improve 4-5 points we draft well and find 1 rotation piece and add Payne as an absolute upgrade over Payton. I’m keeping all contracts manageable — not married to anyone. Internal improvement with iq obi mitch continuity cohesion— I don’t want to change much with the team. Derrick rose has sold me on two more years. So has the other guys
I’m also willing to trade both 1s to move up to get James boughknight

I'd do that for Noel. I hope that's not what it takes for Rose (I know fish has hammered home the point of his Adidas contract all year, but can't necessarily take that for granted). If it came down to it I'd be willing.

Going to be tough to bring back both Bullock and Burks and still be able to improve the roster beyond individual player growth. I hope Knox has a big summer, enough to earn some minutes and replace some of that 3 point shooting from either/or.

Taj I have no doubt is a vet min after everything's been spent.

The problem isn't the guys you are mentioning. It's that you're paying more than their market value, buy a decent amount.

well that is where you and I differ. If we win a title this year you are right. But I dont see the 4th seed in a season where we were one of the few healthy teams all year as "working." Its a good season. We want to win a title. Not have good season locking into player like Martin mentioned. Clarence Weatherspoon and Jarred Jefferies also.

Only way these guys come back is if we utterly fail in FA, and if that happens hopefully use the cap space to make a trade or get more future draft assets.

Noel is a priority FA. After that you star with Kawhi and move to Shroder, Powell, Derozan, Connely, etc

You dont even NEED to pay Rose that... he's coming back on some veteran exception

Our success is the cohesion of the team. We have a certain built up chemistry
. Our best chance to improve is mostly be retaining our players and internal growth.
But we also have to pay up a bit — paying core players 9-12 mm per is fair compensation.

I think the Knicks could use this year to button up the roster and try and hold onto contract rights with team friendly contracts. With Bird rights the following year, these players can get paid a bit more without hurting the team -- next year.

1) Not opposed to D Rose getting paid, but I would ask him to accept the Early Bird exception this year knowing next year we will have Bird Rights to hold onto him next year. Let us use this year to build a stronger roster. I am sure he will have options on how to get paid, but I hope to keep him on this squad.

2) Bullock also, I would ask him to accept the Early Bird exception this year. Be part of the team going forward. Next year, when we are capped, we will still have his Bird Rights.

3) Burks may be a casualty of this offseason. He has played into a contract. I really think he will get the MLE from another capped team and will may lose him. I'd stay in the conversation, but not sure I am committing 11mm per for 2 to him. Like him, but feel like that skill set is replaceable.

4) Noel -- I have him at $10m per for 4. Won't mince over $1mm one way or the other, but I'd like to see him stay.

5) Taj Gibson -- Love Taj, but I really think he is a Vet Min player at 2.4mm.

You know I gonna spin wit it

You know I thought the lesson the 2020-21 Knicks taught us all would be to chill out on the hubris on thinking any of us are good at message board GMing.

Unless anyone (me included) saw 41-31 coming .... unless they saw MIP Randle coming.... unless they saw 40% 3pt Barrett coming ... unless thy saw .750 winning percentage AFTER the Rose trade/Robinson injury ... unless the saw top 3 team defense ... unless they saw Quickly coming ... unless they saw how solid Burks, Bullock, Noel and Gibson are coming...

... how about we approach things have NO idea how next year will go, because this year.

True. FA is a crapshoot. You just one team to get desperate, like Charlotte with Hayward, to throw things out of wack. It's tough to do, but all you can do is wait and see.

I can see the Knicks, if we can’t get clear upgrades, bringing back the whole bench on big 2 year, team option on the 2nd year to get them to stick around for a run to defend our championship.

This is like when the Heat did pretty well one season and brought everyone back at inflated salary rates (2017?) then sucked and spent the next few years giving up picks to get rid of them- we need to keep moving forward or we’ll stagnate.

Locking up Noel is a no brainer

Especially since we can use Mitch as bait to bring Lonzo here on a sign and trade

Linzo ball is an inconsistent prima dona who will cost 30 million per year . He’s also hurt a lot
