Lonzo is probably a free agency target and its unlikely the FO will trade for him due to the high cost just to hold his rights to match any offer. That could make the price cheap, as they seem to be targeting. I’d rather have Powel than Oladipo, tbh. Knicks_Fan

Good info but the Knicks fan TV guy hasn’t really done his research. He calls Powell a 3 and he’s clearly a 2. He calls him 3&D and he’s not really a defensive player, although he’s not terrible. And he says he has an affordable contract for 2 more years but he has a player option next year which he will opt out of, so he’s essentially a free agent. That being said, Ball and Powell are the 2 non-star players I believe would be difference makers here. |

I think he could have a Randle type development here. Get him before he breaks out. He’s also a 6’3 SG so a lil undersized. The Future is Bright!

This trade gives us a legit 2nd option(RJ not there yet and will look better as a 3rd option). While bullock moves to the second unit and provides size and defense since it involves IQ and Toppin. We have 2 first round picks next draft, we have Obi, Quick, RJ, Mitch and maybe Frank if we resign him as our young players. Thibs won't be playing all of them. Sometimes we get excited about draft picks and forget about the current young players we have. Getting oladipo for cheap now is a calculated risk. You end the playoff drought, you get Robinson, Randle and Barrett playoff experience and get first dibs on oladipo before commiting to a long term contract. |

IDK, assets like picks and players are limited and have to be used to build upwards IMHO. And just because you have 3 draft picks doesn't mean you can't consolidate them to get better draft position. Has Oladipo even proven that he can be a positive influence on games won for a team? Houston sucks for many reasons and they ain't winning. Has Oladipo proven HIMSELF as a player worth both trading for AND giving a next contract too? He has been hurt, hasn't come close to the previous output, and is a poor distance shooter for an undersized SG. What is the opportunity cost of giving up assets now to a player that may or may not want to re-sign with the Knicks versus re-stocking those assets for a better player? Right now Oladipo and RJ would play the same role on the team, so what is the benefit? I'm not even close to being able to bridge Oladipo as a long term player the FO would want on a team; that argument is a steep hill. Dude will be 29 soon, not gotten back to top form, and you want to sign him to a 4 year deal OVER the price at which Miami and other teams would be offering? ![]() Powell is having a break out year and has been the Raptors best player since the all star break. He's been averaging 27 pts per over his last ten games; 19 for the year. He's also shooting 45% from 3! Powell has been one of the few bright spots for the raptors this year so I can't see them trading him....He would have to be a target this summer even-though I believe he's a RFA.

He's listed as a SF espn and he plays in the starting lineup with Lowry and Van Fleet, so it's fair to call him a SF even though size wise he should be a SG |

![]() Powell is reportedly available, but judging by rumors, the Raptors are looking for a first-round pick plus a young player. I’d say it’s a little too much for a player who’s UFA this summer (next season is a player option).
You have to be really in high win now mode to pay such a price. |

![]() I’m fine with Oladipo if it’s essentially for free (say if Magic traded Gordon for him and a pick and then salary dumped him to us)- at best he helps us with the playoff run, at worst he messes up chemistry and improves our lottery pick, but allows us to not waste our money on him in the offseason.

Mentioned Powell as one of the guys I would like to see the Knicks add on several other threads. He is due a significant pay raise though but I feel he is a fringe next-level player. But agree, why would you give up assets if it is clear that he and his agent will test the market to see just how much of a raise he should get. Also have mentioned Trent Jr. Feel he may be open to playing on another team. One that gives him a bigger role. He does not seem happy sitting on the bench in close games.
